Along with our partners we are able to offer on-board training, which includes a number of mandatory and non-mandatory safety courses, PYA-accredited interior crew modules and medical, security, and bespoke whole crew training with the aim of creating high performing teams. We also offer an array of specialist consultancy and service activities, including a review of standard operating procedures and emergency response for deck, engine and interior departments.

Our recruitment and crew management partners specialise in the development of premier crew teams and travel services. Other partners provide comprehensive yacht management for surveys, audits, new construction, sales and purchase, charter and registration services.

Review of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

It is essential to keep written documentation or instructions detailing all the relevant steps and activities in any operational procedures. SOPs provide a reference to common practices, activities or tasks and we can provide a professional review of SOPs for the deck, engineering and interior departments.

Review of Team Performance

The non-technical performance of the crew is just as important as their technical skills – the human element and team performance is increasingly recognised as fundamental to safe and efficient yacht operations. WSA provides effective crew resource management training, which incorporates leadership, planning, problem analysis, well-judged risk-aware decision making, high-level situational awareness and solution delivery.

Yacht Surveys and Audits

Regs4Yachts is the specialist superyacht division of the internationally reputed maritime consultancy and technical solutions provider Regs4Ships Limited. Reg4Yachts consultants have completed well over 1,000 surveys, audits and inspections, to ensure that vessels are operating safely, efficiently and within the regulations. They offer the following services: flag state statutory services;

ISM and mini-ISM systems; ISPS ship security plans; YachtEMS electronic

arrangement systems; DPA services; contingency and emergency planning exercises. Regs4Yachts also provides a digital maritime regulations service combining flag state documentation with international legislation from the IMO, ILO and EU.

Membership enables crew and guests to have access anytime to medical and travel safety advice, information and shore-side assistance around the world. Customised Simulation

We have gained extensive experience of bridge and engine simulator operations over the past 40 years, and can deliver high-quality and customised training solutions. After consultation we can build a virtual model to your own specification and test the vessel’s precise handling characteristics or new berthing arrangements.

Manned Model Ship Handling

Our 20-acre manned model ship handling centre is one of very few worldwide. It offers the international maritime industry an invaluable state-of-the-art training facility, using accurately scaled ship models to simulate the handling characteristics of actual vessels. Officers, including superyacht captains, fly in from all over the world to benefit from this outstanding training opportunity.

Medical Equipment and Supplies

MedAire has a complete line of medical kits, oxygen equipment and medical accessories for responding to common medical concerns and life-threatening incidents. MedAire medical kits meet and exceed MCA specification MSN 1768.

Video Production, Publishing and Online Production

Online video is the ultimate medium to engage with existing superyacht owners and to inspire new ones. YachtsXL specialises in the production of online video for superyachts – trusted by the most recognised yachting brands and lifestyle organisations, delivering first-class online solutions to raise the ROI of your video.

Yacht Production, Design and Manufacture

The Maritime and Technology Faculty at Southampton Solent University hosts facilities which assist yacht designers with product design and manufacture. These include CNC 5 axis router to scale yacht hull models, Stratasys FDM Titan 3D, hand-held 3D scanner, digital design software suites and an FRP composite workshop with 12 workstations for specialised composite building methods.

Testing and Diagnostics

There are three pieces of tensile testing equipment within the Maritime and Technology Faculty available for the design and construction of yacht hulls, particularly in carrying out materials testing. This provides the industry with a powerful analytical facility used in the validation of superyacht structural design. In addition, rapid prototyping equipment (Titan) is also available to provide a smart solution for building large, strong and durable parts.

Towing Tank

Southampton Solent University’s towing tank is suitable for evaluating

hydrodynamic lift and drag components to improve and enhance the performance of both sailing and motor craft. Key features include a wave generator, top carriage speed of 4.0m/s, 60m long, 3.7m wide and 1.8m deep tank and test wave and tidal renewable energy devices.

It employs over 100 maritime expert lecturers and manages more than 10,000 student enrolments each year.
