What is the plug-in matrix?

Moodlerooms Plug-in Matrix is an analytic tool that identifies and describes and plug-ins available to you. We've arranged the plug-ins into the following developer groups.

• Moodle™ Core plug-ins: Plug-ins that are maintained by Moodle HQ as part of the Moodle core code. • Moodlerooms plug-ins: Plug-ins that are maintained by Moodlerooms product or client development.

• Community Plug-ins: Plug-ins that are maintained by Moodle community members individually or as part of an organization. • Vendor plug-ins: Plug-ins that are maintained by Vendors to support clients who want their product to work with Moodle.

You may have legacy features or customizations that may or may not be listed in this matrix. Please note these will not be removed from your current site, but legacy features are not available in new sites.

MNet® A network feature that allows a site administrator to establish a link with another Moodle-based site and share resources with the users of that site.

keep track of important course activities. Alerts are triggered by various course events, but are most likely important enough that you want to know about them without having to navigate to the My home/My Moodle page to view the stream.

Plug-in Description Support Level Status Adaptive Quiz Create tests that efficiently measure the takers’ abilities. Adaptive tests

are comprised of questions selected from the question bank that are tagged with a score for the difficulty.

Community Plug-in Must submit a support ticket to enable Attendance Teachers can keep track of who is attending their course. Students can

view their attendance records with this block while teachers take attendance, report on attendance, or change attendance settings.

Community Plug-in Must submit a support ticket to enable BTEC Advanced

grading

An advanced grading method where a teacher enters a comment per pre-defined criteria and indicates if the student has met the criteria or not. There is no concept of percentages, numbers or letters. Criteria are either met or not met. This method of marking is widely used in the UK.

Certificate Create PDF certificates/diplomas for students upon completion of a course or specified activity, with the ability to use both custom and default pictures in the certificates.

Community Plug-in Must submit a support ticket to enable Choice Group Allow students to enroll themselves into a group within a course. The

teacher can select which groups students can choose from and the maximum number of students allowed in each group.

Collapsed topics Course format

The format is similar to the standard Topics course format except that all topics (except '0') can be 'toggled' on and off. This reduces clutter in courses that have a large number of topics, lots of content in the topics or a combination of the two.

Matching

Question type that requires users to drag labels to a match. Community Plug-in Must submit a support ticket to enable Grade Me Block This plug-in shows a teacher all of the assignments and manual quiz

questions (essays and file responses) that have been submitted, but not graded. The block is configured to work with groups that is, teachers will only see the assignments submitted by students if they are both members of the same group. Not recommended for use with the Snap theme.

Google OAuth2 This plug-in adds the "Sign-in with Google / Facebook® / Github® / Linkedin® / Windows Live® / VK / Battle.net®" buttons on the login page. The first time a user logs in, a new Moodle account is created.

Hotpot This plug-in allows teachers to administer Hot Potatoes and TexToys quizzes via Moodle. These quizzes are created on the teacher's computer and then uploaded to the Moodle course. After students have attempted the quizzes, a number of reports are available which show how individual questions were answered and some statistical trends in the scores.

Journal This plug-in allows a teacher to ask students to reflect on a particular topic. The students can edit and refine their answer over time.

Community Plug-in Must submit a support ticket to enable Lightbox Gallery Apply various effects to image galleries created within a course. Community Plug-in Must submit a support

ticket to enable LTI Provider This is a local plug-in for making Moodle a LTI provider tool. It can be

use to provide access to full courses or activities from remote systems (other Moodle installations, Sakai, any LMS LTI consumer compliant).

Mahara is an open source e-portfolio system with a flexible display framework.

Updated to work with Moodle Assignment submissions and feedback. Now includes support for page and collection submission.

Moodle Mobile Local plug-in for adding new features to the current Moodle Mobile app. This add-on provides new features and web services which are currently only available in the latest Moodle versions.

question type This question type deals with music intervals. The respondent is given a note and is prompted to enter a second note at a given interval. Answers are entered in a graphical user interface.

Signature question type

This question type deals with key signatures and may be useful for music theory instruction. The respondent is given a tonality and is prompted to enter the corresponding key signature. A question bank is included, including all major and minor keys in treble and bass clefs. Answers are entered in a graphical user interface.

Music Scale question type

This question type deals with musical scales and may be useful for music theory instruction. The respondent is given a key and tonic, and is

prompted to enter a scale. A question bank is included, including all major and minor scales, with and without a key signature. Answers are entered in a graphical user interface.

Allows a teacher to find and add NLN Learning Objects to their Moodle courses with a minimum of effort.

OU Blog This is an alternative blog that you can install into standard Moodle. It does not replace the standard blog, and operates alongside it. There are two modes of use:

1. As a course activity.

2. As a replacement for standard Moodle personal blogs.

OU Drag and Drop

words (gapselect) This question type allows students to complete a paragraph of text by selecting the missing words using drop-down menus. You can make questions like this using the Cloze question type, but this question type is easier for teachers to get up, and presents the feedback in a more

accessible way.

Macmillan The Macmillan SSO plug-in implements the Basic Learning Tools Interoperability (BLTI) framework as a means to integrate remote tools and content with the Moodle LMS. The plug-in applies updates to Moodle Gradebook and posts BFW portal’s Gradebook ID to Moodle’s grade object metadata/attribute. Moodletxt ConnectTxt integration with Moodle that allows teachers and

administrators to send SMS/text messages to their students directly from Moodle. The plug-in supports both inbound and outbound messaging, text message status updates, user-personalized messages, message templates and signatures, personal address books, is full compatibility with user time zones, and can support event-based SMS/text messaging with the moodletxt+ message processor.
