AYSCOUGHFEE HALL SCHOOL
NEWSLETTER: 02/07/21
Dear Parents,
How lucky are we at Ayscoughfee to have such wonderful supportive parents and grandparents. A big thank you to Mr Turner, Mr Moss & Mr Tillbrook (The Moss children’s granddad) for the amazing job they have done in revamping our fire engine into the Hogwarts Express train from Harry Potter! It is not quite finished yet as some special signs still need to go on! The children love it and have really enjoyed playing on it at breaks and lunchtimes. Thank you so much. I also need to thank Mrs Whatford and Sophia for lots of lovely books for the Junior and Infant Library. They are really appreciated and l know the children will enjoy them.
The children have had another great week in school with Sports Days and picnic lunches outside.
Year 1 and Year 2 races comprised of many different events, with some new ones this year. We competed in a ‘Funny Feet’ race, ‘Hoop Drop’ and a ‘Laundry Day’ house relay, amongst many of the usual
traditional races. We had lots of fun and laughter and ended the morning with a picnic lunch on the grass which all the children really enjoyed.
All the Junior children competed in traditional events such as the ‘Sack Race’, ‘Egg and Spoon Race’ and the ’Skipping Race’, as well as House Relays and some longer distance races. They showed lots of determination and perseverance as well as great sporting behaviour, encouraging each other and giving lots of support.
A special thank you to our House Captains, Darcey, Izzy, Jada and Reuben for their help during Thursday afternoon. A fantastic effort by you all - well done. Many of the pictures are on the school Facebook page. We have also recorded our Year 5 & 6 production this week, ‘Blast from the Past’. I am sure it will bring back many happy memories of school life for parents and grandparents! They did really well and we will be sending out a copy for all Year 5 and 6 parents next week. Reports have come home today and l have to say l am thrilled with how well all the children have done in school this year.

Reception – Sandcastles and Ladybirds
This week, Reception class have had lots of fun playing and learning about sandcastles. We watched an educational video which explained all about the grains of sand. We experimented with sand soup in the mud kitchen and worked out the best consistency and method to make super strong sandcastles. Our final designs were decorated with homemade flags and gorgeous shells. *Friday Breaking News* Our Ladybird larvae which we have fed with black fly, given water and watched turn into cocoons have begun to hatch into beautiful ladybirds! So much excitement in the classroom today ☺
