Online Smart Card Loading User Guide

Purpose of Document

This is a User Guide with step-by-step instructions to create an account and load fares on your Smart Card.

Step 1. Register an Account

a) Visit ck.usetransit.com

b) Before proceeding ensure you have the following: i. A valid email account

ii. A valid Visa, MasterCard or American express (AMEX), Japan Credit Bureau (JCB), Debit Visa (Debit Mastercard is currently not accepted online)

iii. Password must contain at least one uppercase, one lowercase, one digit and one special character and be a minimum of 8 characters long. c) Click the “REGISTER” button to set up an account.

d) Please fill out all the *required information. e) Click “SIGNUP”.

f) Read the Terms and Conditions and click “I Agree”.

h) You will receive an email from [email protected] to confirm your registration. Click the link in the email to finish registering your account.

Step 2. Add a Payment Card

a) Valid payments cards are Master Card, Visa and American Express (AMEX), Japan Credit Bureau (JCB). In addition, customers can use debit cards which have the “Visa” logo on it. For example, Scotiabank’s debit card also possesses the Visa card functionality and thus can be added on the customer’s account for payment. At this time debit Master Card is not accepted.

b) Click “Payment Cards” on the left menu. Then click “+ Add New Credit Card”

c) Enter your payment card information. d) Click “Save New Card”.

IMPORTANT: A temporary $0.50 amount will be charged to validate your account. Your account will be credited this $0.50 charge within seven (7) days once validated.

e) Click “Accept” for the pre-authorization charge as described above.

d) Verification that your payment card has been added is shown below. You will be able to see the payment card with only the last 4-digits visible.

e) If the card information is incorrect, you will be given an error message. This message will include the incorrect piece of information that needs to be corrected. Click “Ok”, correct the error and then click “Save New Card”.

f) Multiple Payment Cards can be added to a single User Account. Simply click the blue “+” button in the bottom corner of the “Payment Cards” screen to add another payment card.

Step 3. New Customers: Order a NEW Smart Card

a) Please skip to Step 4 if you already have an existing Smart Card b) Click “Transit Accounts” on the left menu

c) Click “+ Add New Transit Account”

d) Select the bottom option “Create New Transit Account” and click the “+ Add New Payment Method”.

e) After selecting “+ Add New Payment Method,” you will be asked to enter your credit card information. You can do this by following the setup of the credit cards in Step 3, section c of this document.

f) Select the type of Smart Card fare you would like to order. You can either have it shipped to your address or you can pick it up from one of the listed Municipal Service Centers.

In this example, the customer is ordering an “Adult Multi-Day Pass (Urban).”

l) Select your Pick-Up or Delivery Option.

NOTE: $2.60 is a shipping fee that is only charged if you choose to have your Smart Card shipped to your address. There is no shipping fee to pick up your card at a Municipal Centre.

n) Click the “Purchase” button to complete the transaction. Note there is a $0.40 fee on all transactions to support the online platform. You will be emailed a receipt and you will have the option to print out the receipt.

Step 4. Existing Customers: Link your EXISTING Smart Card

IMPORTANT: If you have an older card without a 4-digit Online Activation Code as shown below, please skip to Step 5.

a) Click “Transit Accounts” on the left menu.

b) Click “Link An Existing Smart Card.” This will allow you to add your existing Smart Card to your user account.

c) Please enter your Smart Card ID and the 4-digit activation number found on the back of the card, as shown on the screen below. (Go to Step 5 if you have an older card without the 4-digit activation).

e) The following message will appear if you have a valid card and activation code. Click “Ok” to proceed.

f) Multiple Smart Cards can be added to a single user account. To add another existing Smart Card to your account click on the blue “+” button in the bottom corner of the Transit Accounts page.

Step 5: Link an Existing Smart Card with NO Activation Code

a) Please follow this step if you do not have a 4-Digit activation code found at the

top of the back of your existing Smart Card.

b) Call Customer Service at 519-360-1998 to have a customer service

representative manually register your existing Smart Card for online loading. You will need to provide them with the ID number found at the bottom of the back of your Smart Card.

Step 6. Reload a Fare Product to your Smart Card

CKTransit fare products are available to initially purchase online and may be loaded online, with the following exceptions:

 The Accessible Pass cannot be initially purchased online but may be reloaded online

 The Affordable Pass cannot be initially purchased online but may be reloaded online

 The Semester Pass cannot be initially purchased online and also cannot be reloaded online. The pass may still be linked to your account in case it is lost. The available products for online purchasing and reloading are:

 Cash Pass

 30 Day Urban - Adult  30 Day Urban - Senior  30 Day Urban - Student  22 Ride Inter-Urban - Adult  22 Ride Inter-Urban - Senior  22 Ride Inter-Urban – Student

To reload a product on your linked Smart Card follow these steps: a) Click “Transit Accounts” from the left menu

c) Click “+ Select” on the type of fare product you would like to load

d) Click “+ Select this Card” next to your preferred Payment Card.

e)

Click “Purchase”. Note there is a $0.40 transaction on all payments to support the online platform. You will be emailed a receipt and you will have the option to print out the receipt.

Step 7. View Transactions on your Smart Card

Users can use the “View History” to review past and pending transactions on their Smart Card.

Upon clicking the button, users can see the transactions in both pending and confirmed state per month.

Step 8. Report a Lost or Stolen Smart Card

a) Go to Transit Accounts and click on “Report Card Lost/ Stolen Cards”

b) Enter your Smart Card ID and click on “Next Step” as shown below. In case you do not remember or have your Smart Card ID, you can find it on the “Report Card Lost/Stolen” screen.

c) If there is an unused balance on your Smart Card, you may transfer that balance to a new card for a replacement fee of $5.00 shown below.

d) After you click “Confirm”, the locations for Smart Card Pickup are displayed. You will have to select one of the listed Municipal Service Centre locations.

e) Once you select the municipal location, the card that is reported lost will be blocked. This can be seen below.

Step 9. Manage your User Account

This step outlines the additional features and reporting that can be accessed through your Transit account.

a) The Usage and Purchases section can help you view transactions on your account. On this dashboard, you can view all balances loaded and the usage of the card.

b) You can also select the various months for reporting.

c) Using the “My Account” tab on the Home Screen, you can review your personal information.

The address can be added by clicking “Add a shipping address.” Then enter all of the Shipping Address information and click “Save.”

d) The change password section allows you to change the password on your CK Transit login.

e) If you ever forget your password, please use the “Forgot your password?” link.

This will take you to a screen where you can enter your email address, which was used to register with CKTransit. You will receive an email with a password reset link.

The password reset link will take you to the password reset screen.

Here, you can set a new password.
