Queen Bee Remote/HYBRID Learning Guide

This document will serve as a guide for remote/HYBRID learning.

Our number one priority for students is safety.

Glossary of terms

Term

Definition

In-School

A time when students attend school taking socially distant precautions and

wearing masks.

Remote

A time when students are learning from home.

Synchronous

(LIVE)

A time when the students in their assigned group meet with the teacher

live on Blackboard, our official video conferencing platform.

Asynchronous

(INDEPENDENT)

A time when the students work independently on work the teacher has

assigned via SeeSaw, Google Classroom, Schoology, etc.

Small Groups

A time when a student or a small group of students will meet with the

teacher.

What is the hybrid model?

The hybrid model is a combination of learning that happens both in-person (at school) and remotely (at home). This includes

synchronous learning and asynchronous learning through various learning platforms.

Parent expectations

● ATTENDANCE

○ When we enter the hybrid schedule on 9/16, hybrid students attending in person,

teachers will take attendance.

○ Hybrid students at home on their asynchronous days will have instructions to log in and

teachers will track attendance for those students.

● Parents will work together and communicate with the school staff and their child(ren) to

support children's academic needs.

● Parents will be responsible for supporting their children in:

○ establishing positive remote learning routines and schedules,

○ managing behaviors

○ monitoring synchronous (live) and asynchronous (independent) learning

engagement, and ensuring that their child keeps up with the assigned work.

○ Set sensible time limits for personal technology use (i.e. social media, video games,

etc.)

○ Remind students how to best communicate with their teachers

● Parents will be responsible for replying to teacher communication in a timely manner.

● Parents will be responsible for checking Skyward, email, and teacher-specific learning sites to

keep up with all synchronous and asynchronous assignments.

Student expectations

● Hybrid students are expected to attend school on the assigned days and follow the

expectations and procedures as outlined by the building administration and teaching staff.

● When students are not in attendance, they will be responsible for completing asynchronous

WEDNESDAY

● No students are scheduled to attend school on Wednesdays;

● Wednesdays are reserved for teacher collaboration, small group or individual student

intervention in the morning only, faculty meetings, and asynchronous learning.

● Students will be notified of the Wednesday schedule.

Teacher Expectations

● Teachers will communicate with families via their preferred messaging (Skyward, Google

Classroom, Schoology etc) or email.

Administration

● Administrators will be available via email and phone to support students, staff, and parents.

Grading/Report

Cards/Assignments

● Grades will be reported out to families each trimester (K-4) and each quarter (5-8) via

Skyward.

● Assignments should be completed by 9:00 p.m.

Special Education, EL

and Student Supports

● IEP’s and 504’s will be followed according to federal and state laws to the greatest extent

possible.

● Teachers in these areas will be providing synchronous (live) and asynchronous (independent)

learning that best fits the needs of their students.

● Grade level teams will monitor student achievement and conduct 1:1 or small group

intervention as needed.

Specials

● Special area teachers include: PE, music, art, & STEM

● K-8 Special area teachers will provide learning opportunities throughout the week, either

synchronously (live) or asynchronously (independent).

● EC AM students must be ready to be online starting at 9:05am through 11:35 am.

● EC PM students must be ready to be online starting at 12:45pm through 3:15 pm.

While at home:

● Kindergarten-4th Grade students should be ready to be online from

Skyward Self-Certification – Family Guide

All Queen Bee School District 16 students are required to complete both a daily self-certification process via Skyward Family Access, as well a daily temperature screening before entering a district facility. The instructions for the self-certification process are presented below. Please note that there are two methods for self-certifying daily using Skyward Family Access:

1) Skyward Family Access via web browser on your desktop, laptop or mobile device 2) Skyward Family Access via app on your mobile device

If any internet accessibility challenges are preventing you from completing this process before your student arrives at your school building, please contact your student’s principal.

For technical assistance accessing Skyward Family Access, please contact our IT Help Desk from 7:00am-2:00pm Monday-Friday via live chat on the district website or phone line at 630-344-5606. You may also email technology support requests to [email protected].

Instructions for Daily Self-Certify Process via Skyward Family Access via Web Browser

1) Before your student enters a district facility, log into the Skyward Student Information System

at: https://skyward.iscorp.com/QueenBee16ILStuSTS

3) You will see today’s date. Read the two wellness screening questions, click the buttons for “Yes” or “No” for each question as they apply to your student, and click the “Submit” button.

4) If you answered “No” for both questions you will see the message below and your student may access the building to conduct the daily temperature screening.

*** Please note that you can submit only one response per day for each student. The system will reset at 12:00am every day to allow for a new submission***

If you answered “Yes” for one or both of the questions you will see the message below. Your student may not access the building and you must contact your student’s principal.

Instructions for Daily Self-Certify Process via Skyward Family Access via Mobile App

1) Using your mobile device’s App Store, search for “Skyward” and download the “Skyward Mobile Access” app.

2) Once downloaded, open the app and locate our district by clicking “by District Name”

4) Click “School Management – Family, Student and Teacher Access”

5) Enter your Skyward Student Information System Login and Password, and click “Save” in the right hand corner

6) Create a unique 4-digit passcode for your Mobile Access account.

8) A Passcode Settings option may appear. You may select the passcode setting option you prefer.

9) Click the button showing your user account name followed by “Queen Bee School District 16” to access your Family Access Home Screen.

10) From the Family Access Home Screen, click on the “COVID-19 Wellness Screening“ button.

12) If you answered “No” for both questions you will see the message below and your student may access the building to conduct the daily temperature screening.

Todos los estudiantes del Distrito Escolar Queen Bee 16 deben completar un proceso de auto

certificación diario a través de Skyward Family Access, así como una evaluación diaria de la temperatura antes de ingresar a las instalaciones del distrito. Las instrucciones para el proceso de auto certificación se presentan a continuación. Tenga en cuenta que existen dos métodos para la auto certificación diaria mediante Skyward Family Access:
