Wireless internet access inside BSB
Users of the Bavarian State Library can access the Internet in all reading rooms by choosing one of the connections as stated below.
WLAN (Wireless LAN) provided by the Leibniz-Rechenzentrum (lrz) – Short
note
Students and employees of Munich universities can use wireless access to the Internet as usual via the Leibniz-Rechenzentrum inside the BSB as well.
Lrz and eduroam networks (SSIDs) can be accessed at any time. Using a VPN client might be required.

Please direct inquiries regarding technics and requirements for access of these networks to the Leibniz-Rechenzentrum. We cannot assist you in installing these WLAN connections.
Access to the Internet via the in-house WLAN of the BSB – Short note

Beeing at least 18 years old and having a valid user card, registered users of
the Bavarian State Library can use the in-house WLAN.

The network name (SSID) required for logging on is:

Data transmission is encrypted via WPA standard. Therefore a network key is
required which must be entered when getting connected. It is: bsblesesaalwlan

Furthermore, proxy server and port number have to be typed (in different fields,
depending on the operating system and browser).

Setting up wireless internet access for Smartphones, Ipad, .... (mobile devices)
The Bavarian State Library doesn't support wireless internet access for moblie devices by default. However, in most cases setup is possible. In addition to the given network key, your device must support settings for proxy servers and port numbers. Please refer to ourInstalling WLAN using Windows 7
1. Activate your WLAN connection. 2. Click the wireless icon displayed

Data transmission in our network is effected in encrypted form according to the WPA-TKIP (WIFI Protected Access) respectively the WPA 2 safety standard for wireless networks. Note:
If you have an obsolete notebook, WPA respectively WPA2 encrypting is usually not possible. In this case, no network connection is established (e. g. „No wireless networks found“).
Regarding your network drivers and Windows updates, please look out for being up-to-date!
4. If required choose the correct form of encryption, WPA Personal
5. The necessary Password is the network key bsblesesaalwlan 6. Confirm by clicking OK or pressing
"Return" key.

3. Choose BSB-1 network and click on it

3. Conditions of Use
3.1.Conditions of use for electronic media
The electronic media may be used exclusively by private users, for their own academic or other private purposes.
In addition to researching and viewing on the screen it is admissible to also download and print out small extracts for this purpose.
However, any systematic or automated download of data or database extracts is prohibited. Any type of use for commercial purposes is prohibited.
3.2. Conditions of use of the internet, statutory provisions
Generally, the use of the internet in the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek is subject to the same regulation which is applicable also the use of books and other media: In accordance with the General Regulations on the Use of Bavarian Public Libraries (Allgemeine Benützungsord-nung der Bayerischen Staatlichen Bibliotheken - ABOB) of 18 August 1993, the offer serves for academic, professional or educational purposes, but not for entertainment. It is prohibited to call any entertaining, offensive or even illegal internet addresses. Concerning the latter, reference is made to the relevant protective provisions of the penal law, the protection of young persons act and the data protection law.
It is expressly pointed out that the following manners of conduct in particular are prosecuted as punishable offences pursuant to the penal code:
• Spying out other persons' passwords, spying out data (Art. 202a StGB (German Penal Code))
• any unauthorized altering, deleting, suppressing or rendering inoperative of data (Art. 303 a StGB)
• computer sabotage (Art. 303 b StGB) and computer fraud (Art. 263 a StGB)
• disseminating propaganda means of unconstitutional organisations (Art. 86 StGB) or racist ideas (Art. 131 StGB)
• distributing pornography on the internet (Art. 184 para. 3 StGB), as well as downloading and owning documents containing child pornography (Art. 184 para. 5 StGB)
• defamatory offences such as slander or libel (Arts. 185 et seq. StGB)
The Bayerische Staatsbibliothek may not be held liable for any consequences arising from the activities of the users in the internet, such as e. g. financial obligations incurred by order-ing items or usorder-ing services that are subject to charges.
It is prohibited to use the internet access provided by the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek for commercial purposes.
Any misuse of the provided offer will be punished by barring the responsible user from further use and holding him/her liable for any damage caused culpably.
