The Epiphany of Our Lord:

The Visit of the Magi

When Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea, in the days of King Herod, behold, magi from the east arrived in Jerusalem, saying,

“Where is the newborn king of the Jews? We saw his star at its rising and have come to do him homage.”

And on entering the house they saw the child with Mary his mother. They prostrated themselves and did him homage. Then they opened their treasures and offered him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.

—Matthew 2:1-2, 11 The New American Bible for Catholics

May all kings bow before him,

all nations serve him.

By the light of a star, O God of the

universe, you guided the nations to the Light of the world.

Until this Redeemer comes again in glory, we, with the Magi, seek the face of the Savior.

Summon us, with all those who thirst now, to the banquet of love.

May our hunger be filled and our thirst be quenched with your Word of truth.

We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, you Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen. —from At Home with the Word 2019. Get your

Throughout this past year, we all have been privileged and blessed to have the opportunity to see the fruits of your discipleship flourish on a regular basis. It's what a stewardship parish looks like: Each and every day, people work within our ministries, welcome and engage new members and volunteers, care for one another, and nurture our faith in one another. We all are so grateful for all that you do, and we look forward to what the year ahead has in store for our parish.

Budget Planning for 2019?

As you plan your household budget for this year, you may be wondering how much the Church requires you to give. The Church teaches that offering some form of material support to the Church is obligatory for all Catholic adults who are able to do so. By January 31, we mail a thank -you letter and report of your giving over the prior year. We hope this helps with your budget process, and we greatly appreciate your

thoughtful stewardship.

You can find a tithing chart, which might help with your planning, on our website under the picture for offertory at allsaintsccnc.org/give.

Although offertory growth continues, it has slowed

and we see a trend of member households

contributing slowly declining.
