Developed for the professional, the new

generation MicroLab employs Micro Medical’s

acclaimed precision Gold Standard Digital Volume

Transducer which is especially suited to measuring

very low flow rates in patients with COPD.

The MicroLab has a class-leading, very high

resolution screen and can display both

Volume/Time and complete Flow/Volume Loops

(using either the open or closed loop test

techniques).The instrument can measure up to 36

parameters and has a database storage capacity for

over 1000 patients. A built-in high resolution

printer delivers hard copy results. A4 sized

printouts can be obtained directly via Hewlet

Packard or Canon printers. (compatible models

specified by Micro Medical).

A new child incentive graphical display is featured

and an optional Airway Resistance measurement

module is offered.

Spida 5 is the highest quality advanced Spirometry software you can buy.The 32-bit package is simple to use and employs a state of the art multi-window, screen interface.

Up to 41 Spirometry indices can be measured, previous test curves overlaid for comparison and both open and closed Flow/Volume Loop test techniques used.

Three types of animated child incentive devices and the long term trending of patient results also feature Spida 5 can be easily linked to other patient journal or GP administration systems, occupational health systems or other medical databases.

Spida 5 is compatible with Microsoft Windows 95, 98, 2000, Me, XP and NT and will link to all Micro Medical Spirometers*

Offered as an optional upgrade for Spida 5 is SpidaXpert a comprehensive, quality assurance, interpretation and diagnostic software program for spirometry. Developed in partnership with a prestigious group of Dutch Respiratory Physicians13, SpidaXpert automatically assesses the quality and reproducibility of the spirometry tests according to international standards. Concise analysis and diagnosis is achieved using clear coloured graphical indicators and comprehensive textual interpretation.

SpidaXpert which includes all the features of Spida5, is a powerful support tool, a true physicians friend.

Available for MicroLab is the optional MicroRint

module for the easy measurement of airway

resistance.

Micro Medical’s unique design has taken a hitherto

specialised measurement out of the pulmonary

function laboratory and into the clinic or home.

MicroRint enables airway resistance to be

measured with the same ease as peak flow but

without effort or technique from the patient.The

subject simply breathes passively through a

mouthpiece or facemask.The result is automatically

computed and displayed against predicted normal

values.The procedure, that can be performed on

neonates to adults, takes only a few minutes.

Available as an option for the MicroRint

module is Rida, a comprehensive database

and analysis software package.

In this method airway resistance is

determined by a momentary

interruption to flow (Q) in the

airways. At this point alveolar

pressure (Pa) equilibrates with

the pressure in the airways and

the mouth (PaO) and airway

resistance (kPa/1/s) is calculated from

PaO/Q (pressure/flow).
