RECENT REDBIRDS: The St. Louis Cardinals conclude a three-game series at the Chicago White Sox today as the first destination of three as part of a 10-day road trip. St. Louis is without a day off, as part of a stretch of 17 games over 17 days.

It’s the second of two season-long 17-game stretches without off days (STL was MLB-best 13-4 from April 23-May 9), and the first of three season-long 10-game road trips (July COL-SF-CHI & Aug.-Sept. PIT-CIN-MIL) ... The Cardinals enter play today in 1st place in the National League Central, one-half game ahead of the second-place Chicago Cubs.

CAMELBACK TREK: The Cardinals three opponents on this 10-day road trip in- clude Chicago-AL (May 24-26), Arizona (May 27-30) and Los Angeles-NL (May 31-June 2). Two of the opponents call Camelback Ranch home during Spring Training (Dodgers & White Sox) and the third opponent (Diamondbacks) are located in the heart of Cactus League country where all three opponents play.

MILLER BEGINS REHAB ASSIGNMENT: Cardinals injured left-handed pitcher Andrew Miller (right foot, toe blister) began his rehabilitation assignment with Memphis (AAA) last night at Gwinnett (Braves). The southpaw threw a perfect inning (6th inning) with a strikeout, retiring Jason Kipnis (ground out), Orlando Arcia (strikeout swinging) and Johan Camargo (ground out), three players with Major League experience. Miller threw 14 pitches with 10 strikes.

DAY PLAY: The Cardinals are 7-2 in their last nine day games dating back to April 24...three of those seven wins, the Cardinals scored only two runs...St.

Louis leads all MLB teams tossing five shutouts in day games this season...

Cardinals pitchers have not surrendered a home run in their last seven day en- tries (40.0 IP)...Nolan Arenado ranks T-5th in the N.L. in Day Game home runs (5) and 8th in hits (21).

BROOM CLOSET: The Cardinals have not been swept by an American League opponent in a three-game regular season series since April 15-17, 2017, when they dropped three straight against the New York Yankees in the Bronx.

ROAD WOES: The Cardinals have lost five straight road games dating back to May 14, their longest road losing streak since 2019 when they dropped all five games of a Golden State road trip to Oakland (0-2) and Los Angeles-AL (0-3). The Cardinals have not lost six straight road games under current manager Mike Shildt, last dropping seven straight roadies in 2017 from May 28-June 8 (COL 1, CHI 3, CIN 3).

FOUR SCORES AND 20 WINS...: The Cardinals are 20-3 (.870) when scoring four or more runs this season, the best record among National League teams in winning percentage when plating four, trailing only the Boston Red Sox (26-3, .897) and Cleveland Indians (21-3, .875) in MLB, when eclipsing the four-run threshhold.

LONG HAIR, DON’T CARE: John Gant has held his opposition to three runs or less in all eight starts this season, with a season-high three runs only once, coming vs. Washington on April 12. The right-hander has also kept his opposition from collecting more than six hits in all eight starts. Gant is one of 19 MLB pitchers to hold his opposition to three runs or less and six hits or less in eight or more starts. Only one player has homered off Gant this season, Bryce Harper, who collected a home run on April 18 at Citizen Bank Park.

CARDINAL SINS: The Cardinals have commited five errors over the last two games, their first consecutive game stretch with multiple errors since May 7-8, 2019, and their first time committing five errors over two games since committing six vs. San Francisco Sept. 22-23, 2018, in which the Cardinals won both efforts. Currently, the Cardinals are T-6th in the National League with 29 errors and rank 10th with a .980 fielding percentage.

TERRIBLE TWOS: The Cardinals committed a season-high three errors last night, and have committed multiple errors in a game for the 7th game this season, but are 4-3 despite the miscues. The only three losses have come against teams from Chicago in the last five games;

dropping Friday night’s game to the Cubs and the last two games to the White Sox. Since Mike Shildt took over the helm, the Cardinals have committed multiple errors in 40 games with a 17-23 record, and surprisingly won both games in which they committed four errors, their highest game total over that span.

PANAMA!: Cardinals rookie shortstop Edmundo Sosa extended his hitting streak to seven games (12-23, .522) last night with a double in the 3rd inning. Since May 16, when Sosa took over the starting role in place of injured All-Star shortstop Paul DeJong, Sosa has posted four multi-hit games, a career-high three-hit game and ranks 3rd among National League batters at .480 (12-25) trailing Nick Castellanos (CIN, .500, 16-32) and Garrett Cooper (MIA, .481, 13-27).

INTERLEAGUE ACTION: The Cardinals continue Interleague play tonight with the third of 18 scheduled games against the American League Central. The Cardinals next Interleague game will be on June 8, when they host the Cleveland Indians at Busch Stadium for a two-game set.

St. Louis is 198-197 all-time in Interleague play, with a .501 win pct. The last time the Cardinals were within one game of .500 against their Junior League opponents was June 12, 2004, at 53-52. St. Louis has finished with a winning Interleague record 12 times in 24 seasons (since 1997).

YARD BIRDS: The Cardinals bullpen has limited their opponents to a Major League-best eight home runs this season. The Mets relief corp ranks 2nd to the Cardinals with 11 round trippers allowed. Five Cardinals relief pitchers (excluding Matt Carpenter) have yet to allow a home run this season.

PRIZE PUPIL: Through 48 games, newly acquired third baseman Nolan Arenado leads the Cardinals in all three Triple Crown categories, batting .289 with 10 home runs and 32 RBI. Arenado ranks 12th in the National League in batting, T-10th in home runs and T-4th in runs battted in.
