This sectionprovidestheinformationfor convertingyourtowermodelservertoa rack-mounted system.

Note: Thiskitisdesignedfor convertinganumberofdifferentmodels.Your model

mightlookdifferentfromthemodelsillustrated,andsomepartsof thekitmightnot beused.

Preparing

your

server

Completethefollowingstepsto prepareyourserver.

1. Readthesafetyinformationbeginningonpage v,“Installationguidelines”on page 3,and“Handlingstatic-sensitivedevices”onpage3.

2. Shutdowntheserveroperating system. 3. Turn offtheserveranddisconnectallcables.

Note: Forinstructionsonhowto turnoff yourserver,refertothedocumentation

thatcomeswithyourserver.

Removing

the

covers,

bezel,

and

feet

Completethefollowingstepsto removethecovers, bezel,andfeetfromyour server.

1. Removetheleft-sidecover.

a. Unlock,open, andremovetheserverdoor,if necessary;then,locatethe cover-releaselatchonthefrontoftheserver.

b. Slide thecover-releaselatchonthefrontoftheservertotheunlocked positiontoreleasetheleft-side cover;then, slidetheleft-side covertoward therearoftheserverapproximately25mm(1 in.).Movethetopedgeofthe coveroutandthenliftthecoverofftheserver.Set theleft-side coveraside. 2. Removethebezel.

a. Pushtheblue bezel-releaselever up,asshown intheillustration.

b. Liftthebezeltabsoutoftheslots;then,pull thebezelawayfromthefrontof theserver.
