CASE STUDY – MAZARS LLP

SALFORD SOFTWARE ACCOUNTS FOR SIX–FIGURE SAVINGS WITH MAZARS BY PROVIDING OUTSOURCED IDENTITY MANAGEMENT

Salford Software has commenced a three year contract to provide an Identity Management (IDM) Managed Service for Mazars that will see the international accountancy practice save a six-figure sum initially across six countries and 6,000 of its 13,000 global employees.

Salford Software will be responsible for managing, monitoring and maintaining the system from the UK whilst providing Mazars with incident and problem resolution and management via a help desk.

The identity management software provides a single identity and sign-on for each Mazars employee across the many departments and offices, provisioning or de- provisioning access to each system, including the enterprise resource planning (ERP) software, based upon who they are and their role within the organisation.

“Salford Software is probably the specialist with the best proven track record when it comes to identity management; I’ve already noticed in the short time we’ve been working together that there is a much more rigorous monitoring service which is making a huge difference to our systems,” explains Jayson Dudley, group infrastructure anager, Mazars London.

“It’s clear that the team at Salford Software has gone about understanding how our business works, and come up with solutions to pick and choose from for the ongoing strategy. They know the technology inside out and can provide a reasoned and unbiased comparison with other technologies, so that we can be confident that we have the best solution for our organisation.”

Mazars chose to work with Salford Software as its outsourced managed service provider for the expert advice and cost savings it is able to make over the three year period of the contract. To hire someone internally to do the same job would be expensive, as well as being a hard skill set to find.

“I’m a hard customer to keep happy, being a stickler for customer service, but I’d put Salford Software into my top three suppliers. As well as being experts, they’re nice people to work with, they have project managed my team very well so they were able to hit deadlines and the pride in their work means that they actually care about the system working properly,” explains Jayson Dudley, group infrastructure manager, Mazars London.

Paul Beaumont, chief executive, Salford Software said: “Salford Software has long been an expert in IDM and its application across large international organisations, however, we’re thrilled to be taking on Mazars as an outsourced managed service to look after its IDM around the clock.

“Managed service provides the customer with the experts ‘on tap’ without the cost of hiring and maintaining the high level of skills internally which are required to do the same job. It also ensures continuity of service regardless of employee changes within the business. We’re thrilled to have been chosen by Mazars and look forward to working with the team over the next three years.”

CASE STUDY – SWANSEA UNIVERSITY

SALFORD SOFTWARE WINS SIX FIGURE THREE YEAR CONTRACT WITH SWANSEA UNIVERSITY

Salford Software has today announced that it has won a three year managed service contract worth £147,000 to provide Swansea University with an identity management solution (IDM) to manage the identities of its 4500 staff accounts and 13,500 student accounts across all 14 of its critical systems, including enterprise directories, the virtual learning environment and the electronic student records, HR and finance systems.

The identity management software provides a single identity for staff and students across the many college and departmental IT systems, provisioning and de-provisioning access to each system based upon their identity held in the student records or HR system.

“Salford Software will be responsible for managing, monitoring and maintaining the IDM system whilst providing the university with incident and problem resolution and management via a help desk,” said Tony Ollier, IT director, Swansea University.

“Swansea University chose to work with Salford Software as its outsourced managed service provider as they have experience delivering and managing some of the most complicated identity management systems which are present in UK academia. The contract will give us the ability to free up valuable internal resources to work on other critical projects whilst Salford Software manages our IDM service and crucially provides cover at all times.”

The solution will also help the university to provide delegated management of temporary or part time staff and students using Salford Software’s Affiliate Record Management System (ARMS) product which means they can be granted and then subsequently denied access to systems for the time they are present at the university.

Tom Eggleston, chief technology officer, Salford Software said: “Salford Software has long been an expert in IDM and its application across large organisations. Some of the most sophisticated IDM systems are deployed in universities and we are thrilled to be taking on Swansea University as an outsourced managed service to manage and maintain their IDM around the clock.

“The churn rate of both students and staff in an organisation that has over 18,000 users is immense and our managed service provides them with the experts ‘on tap’ without the cost of hiring and maintaining the high level of skills internally which are required to do the same job. It also ensures continuity of service regardless of staff or student changes within the institution.”
