Typical Applications:

Occupational Noise Measurements

Noise Ordinance Enforcement

Community Noise Assessment

The Issue:

Not all basic sound level meters are created equal. For certain applications basic summary noise

data, such as SPL, Lmin, Lmax, Leq/Lavq or Peak, may be all that is required. While many

com-panies offer basic sound level meters, many of those meters do not conform to established

inde-pendent standards for performance or intrinsic safety. Without conformance to these standards,

your data may have no legal relevance and the meter may be unsafe for use in the

environ-ments to be measured.

The Solution:

Quest Technologies' Basic Series Sound Level Meters provide you with

extremely easy-to-use tools for obtaining the most commonly required

noise measurements, such as SPL, Lmin, Lmax, Leq/Lavg, and Peak.

With Quest, you get these features and conformance to independent

sound level meter performance and intrinsic safety standards. The

Basic Series delivers the kind of red, rugged and reliable performance

that has become the hallmark of Quest Technologies.

The Quest model QC-10 and QC-20 calibrators provide quick, precise field calibration. The

calibrator generates a stable acoustic signal at a controlled frequency and amplitude to

verify the accuracy of your meter in the field. The model QC-10 is a general purpose

calibrator that generates a constant sound pressure level of 114 dB at a fixed frequency

of 1,000 Hz. The model QC-20 is recommended for use with precision ANSI

and IEC Type/Class 1 meters. User-selectable 94 or 114 dB and 250 or

1,000 Hz frequencies generate four different outputs. The QC-20 has a

standard one-inch coupler opening that may be reduced by inserting

available plug-in adapters. The model QC-20 also provides a precise

1-volt RMS output signal via a 1/8 inch phone jack. Calibrators comply

with IEC 942: 1988, Class 1 and ANSI S1.40-1984.

Quest Technologies has created the SoundPatrol DP 1200

Precision Class/Type 1 and SoundPatrol DP 2200 General

Purpose Class/Type 2, integrating sound level meters with

digital printing capabilities especially for noise ordinance

enforcement applications. Both meters are rugged,

high-quality devices meeting all the applicable accuracy and

performance requirements for sound level meters as defined

by ANSI S1.4 and S1.43, IEC 61672, 60651 and 60804.

Users will quickly learn to confidently perform a pre-test field

calibration, take a valid noise sample, perform a post-test

calibration check and generate complete printed results using

the system’s convenient belt-worn portable printer.
