WINE BY THE GLASS OR BOTTLE 03 Sparkling

04 White, Rosé 05 Red

WINE BY THE BOTTLE 06 / 07 White 08 / 11 Red

12 Rosé

Our wine list is a story of immigration. Just like the Italians, French and Spanish who came to Argentina to swap secrets with a new land, it makes the trip from Old World to New. Tracing the mingling of influences, and letting wines with European roots live next to bottles that are purely South American in origin.

The first grapes on South American soil were Listán Prieto and Muscatel de Alexandre, planted by travelling Jesuits on their way down the Andes. In 1566, a Chilean Friar called Juan Cedron crossed the mountains and established a vineyard in Argentina. Over the next 300 years, hoisted on the shoulders of the portenos who carried products on and off the ships, these vines grew (and grew and grew) all the way to Patagonia in the far South. In the 19th century, new arrivals from Italy, Spain and France brought an abundance of new grapes that reinvented themselves in the high

altitudes and southern latitudes of the Andes.

THE CRIOLLAS COLLECTION

The first vines of Listán Prieto and Muscatel de Alexandre have now grown into varieties that are native to Argentina – known as The Criollas. For centuries, it was the wine of the working family. But recently, a new generation of makers has sought to bring them to an international audience. We are proud to be the first to put them on our menu.

SPANISH CONNECTION

The arrival of grape varieties to Argentina came with the many Jesuits who populated the Andean regions during the 16th century.

Listán Prieto (Criolla Chica), from the Canary Islands and later Muscatel de Alexendria were the staple varieties for over 300 years. Both of these varieties crossed, spawning a series of indigenous varieties, mostly pink, known today as the Criollas.

ITALIAN CONNECTION

A cursory look at many of the wine labels from Argentina will tell you where much of Argentina’s wine influence comes from. Mass immigration of Italians in the late 19th and early 20th century drastically

changed the shape and culture of Argentina, and remains the dominant influence in gastronomy and much of its culture, bringing great

expertise and skill to the wine industry of Mendoza and beyond.
