• Lead a total of eleven department heads. Provide creative leadership for a robust Public Services agenda that seeks to transform the physical and programmatic aspects of the Library. Actively seek user engagement and employ continuous assessment in this process.

• Seek out and develop on- and off-campus partnership opportunities.

• Develop, assess, and provide direction for creating modern, effective, and efficient library learning and collaborative spaces.

• Serve as library’s chief budget and financial officer. Develop and manage $13,000,000+ state budget and account for library’s endowment and special initiative funding. • Coordinate the library’s statistical and assessment functions.

• Serve on the Library Administrative Council with Dean and Associate Deans

addressing strategic and operational issues. Serve on other library and Institute councils and committees and represent library at meetings.

Specific accomplishments included: • Service Desk Consolidation

Leading current effort to increase user satisfaction and library staff utilization through consolidation of service points. These efforts will result in a single unified service point at the entrance to the main library complex for most services previously offered at the reference, circulation/reserves, and special formats/maps desks.

• Creation of User Experience Department

Helped create new department to coordinate user engagement and assessment efforts for the entire library.

• 2 West Commons

Responsible for leadership of user engagement, programming, fund raising, design and construction of highly successful collaborative learning space. Utilization of space increased 94% after renovation and user satisfaction is extremely high with the end result. Work in this renovation included extensive user engagement prior to construction and collaboration with other campus units including the Office of Information Technology.

• Library East Commons

Worked with final design plans as well as construction and equipment phases. Coordinated private and state funding for project.

• Commons refreshment projects

Led project in 2008 to “refresh” the Library West Commons project with design modifications and new equipment. Led a similar project in 2009 to refresh the Library East Commons.

• Offsite warehouse

Helped coordinate efforts to secure an off-site warehouse and renovate the facility to store archival collections, the library’s records management function, and low-use library collections.

• Clough Undergraduate Learning Commons

Participant in programming for new undergraduate services and classroom building. Provide coordination of interface with library facilities and services. Consultation on development of commons spaces including design, infrastructure and furnishings. Led library’s comprehensive programming effort in conjunction with new building

planning.

• Collaborative Task Forces

Helped form and nurture cross-functional task forces to address library-wide issues in a number of areas including review of library assessment activities, implementation of RAPID ILL system, development of a mentoring program, and creation of separate science fiction collection.

• Development/coordination of external funding

Served as principal or co-writer on a number of successful grant applications to renovate physical facilities, employ new technology, and develop the library’s collections. On an ongoing basis, interface with endowment/development personnel and library managers to maximize efficient utilization of

grant/endowment income and seek out new funding sources. Prepare financial reports summarizing status of grant/endowment accounts.

• Coordination of assessment and statistics programs

Through supervision of library’s assessment and statistics coordinators, provide direction for library’s assessment activities and guidance toward creation of a centralized data portal for broader internal access to library data. Manage all statistics collections and reporting activities for ARL, ASERL, ACRL, and other entities.

• Campus faculty governance

Elected campus-wide to the Georgia Tech Executive Board which provides the highest-level faculty input to Georgia Tech’s president. Elected by library faculty as a

representative to the Faculty Academic Senate and the Faculty General Assembly. • Administrative/financial restructuring

Led efforts to streamline library business office operations and to provide more financial transparency to library personnel.
