ARRA Stimulus Incentives
• As part of American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) Title XIII - Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act (HITECH) incentive programs
– 19 billion dollars allocated to Eligible Providers (EP) to implement a “meaningful use” certified Electronic Medical Record (EMR) by 2015 or Penalties begin
– Two separate paths provided for qualification:
• Medicaid – $63,750 per EP if 30% or more of the practice is Medicaid
• Medicare - $44,000 per EP if $24,000 or more is annually billed to Medicare. This is for full reimbursement
• Payments are paid out over 5 (Medicare) and 6 (Medicaid) years and may begin in 2011
