HAPPY NEW YEAR!! Here are a few to notes going into the new year.
Parking lot Snow Removal: We are coming into the snowy season and will be needing access to the parking lot for snow removal. REMINDER: Please if you are going to be leaving your vehicle over night(and please do if you have been drink- ing), park your vehicles to the sides of the parking lot so we can get the lot plowed.
VA State Mid-Year Convention: The Virginia Moose Associations mid-year convention is the weekend of January 19th – 22nd, 2016. If you can get off work to go, it is a great time and looks good for the lodge to have as many members as possible at these conventions.
First Responders Program: How can we honor these local heros? Through the gift of membership!
From January 1st through April 30th, 2017, Moose International will waive all first year fees and dues for active military person- nel and first responders. If you know someone who is serving our country or provides first responder services for our communi- ty, now is a great time to reach out and offer them a membership in the Moose Fraternity.
Committee Vacancies: We still have vacancies on several of our committees. These committees are:
Building Committee:If we are going to get a new building completed we will need a lot of help in this area
Moose Legion: It is very important for us to get more support for these activities. Please help support our lodge as we make the Dale City Moose Lodge one of the top lodges in the state, if not international. Please talk to an officer to volunteer on one of these committees.
Fraternally Yours, Bill Baker

It’s been a very productive and wonderful couple of months since our last newsletter. The kids had so much fun dur- ing the Christmas brunch with Santa. Thank you so very much Jen Donahue for taking lead on this wonderful event.
Santa took time out of his busy schedule to deliver gifts to the kids and visit for a bit of time before he had to dash off back to the North Pole to complete his check lists for Christmas Eve. Mary Lazar was such a great help to us before, during and after the party. Rick Wineard, all I can say is, YOU ROCK!! Thank you guys so much for everything!!
During the Christmas weekend, my husband Joe and I traveled to Florida and had the great pleasure to visit Moose- haven. It’s been a couple of weeks since that visit and it’s still hard to put into words, the experience and feelings of being in that wonderful community. We intended on just taking a few pictures and taking a peek of Moosehaven.
The guard let us through the gates to let us walk throughout the campus. We decided to take a peek into Brandon Place Clubhouse, where we were welcomed by several residents having Christmas “Dinner”. After telling them that we were from the Dale City, VA lodge, one resident said that there were a couple of people from Virginia, Wood- bridge lodge residing there and directed us to their location. They invited us to stay for the festivities they were hav- ing later on during the day, which included BINGO. We were so happy to see Harold Embrey and his beautiful wife.
Harold gave us a priceless tour of the Campus. The campus was so relaxing and peaceful. Every single person passing us greeted us and said “Merry Christmas”. From the people on their 3 wheeled bicycles, the Nurse on Duty in her little medical buggy, to the kitchen staff delivering meals. Every single person we talked to, made us feel so welcome in their community home. Oh, and before I forget… The Christmas Cards that we sent were received and greatly appreciated. (Thank you Sue Aguero for your work on that & Eva Hatch for making sure they were mailed to our Moose Family to receive before Christmas) So, this was a very small glimpse of our visit to beautiful Moose- haven. If you take a trip to Florida, I encourage you to take some time to visit our Moose Family in Moosehaven.
You can call the Administrative office, and they will be happy to schedule a tour for you. They even have lodging on the campus if you need it. I have never visited a place for the first time and felt so welcome by every single person.
Our new Moose Year will be here before you know it. That being said, women will be able to submit nominations for WOTM board of officers very soon. Please consider being part of this wonderful team. It’s a fantastic way to help make a difference to so many & you really learn why we are “Moose Proud”! If you have any questions, please reach out to me or any of your other board members.
In closing, I wish each and every one of you, my very much loved and appreciated Moose Family, a very Happy New Year. Thank you for all that you do to help MAKE A DIFFERENCE to so many! Moose Proud!
Cheryl Mezes, Senior Regent
