Message from the Governor:
I want to thank everyone for their support over the past two years. It has truly been a satisfying and humbling experience. For my last message as your Governor I would like to leave you with a few thoughts I have tried to live and lead by:
Do the right thing, even when no one is watching – This is the definition of integrity this is most of what I live by and what I believe that I have seen my brothers and co-workers at the moose do.
Do the best you can – This is something that is relevant in most all situations. I’m reminded of a quote from the great Vince Lombardi here: “Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection we can catch excellence”.
Always show people you care – This is the mantra observed by all of Moose to show people that you care, be it in volunteering at your Church, Lodge, Moose Legion/Moose Rider WOTM functions, donations to Mooseheart/Moosehaven or even if it’s just giving clothes or food to one of our many fundraisers
throughout the years. I see the undying drive to help others at our Lodge and this makes me proud to be a member at the Dale City Moose Lodge.
I believe that these virtues are the basis of what we do here as a Moose and what I have tried to live by in my life.
In summation, thank you for allowing me to serve you as your Governor for the last 2 years. We have ac- complished a lot over this time; one being the new building construction, but the most satisfying is the sense of family that has grown in our Lodge. This is what I hear most from new members or just visitors coming into our Lodge. It’s the members that make the Lodge, and I believe that we have accomplished the task of making everyone feel like family.
I would also like to thank standing and previous board members without whom none of these things would be possible.
Thank you and God bless you, Mooseheart and Moosehaven, Bill Baker

Sr. Regent……..…………....………....Sylvia Baker Jr. Regent….……..…………..………..Maria Leydig Jr. Grad. Regent…...…...….……...…Cheryl Mezes Sec.Treasurer………..………....…...…....…Vacant Recorder……….…...…….…..Eva Hatch Message from the Sr. Regent:
The board wants to give a big thank you to everyone that participated in the chili cook-off. In case you missed it – Dan came in 1st, Jerry came in 2nd (for the 2nd time in a row) and Bob came in 3rd (for the 2nd time in a row). We really appreciate your partici- pation. They were all delicious. We would also like to thank Casey for providing musical entertainment.
It’s that time of year again where we’ve elected our new Board. The new Board members are as follows:
Julie Hall, Sr. Regent
Courtney Gordon, Jr. Regent Eva Hatch, Recorder
Kelly Burger, Secretary/Treasurer
I have worked with all of these ladies and am very confident that they will lead our WOTM on our continuing mission of support- ing Mooseheart, Moosehaven and the Heart of the Community.
Mark your calendars for our pork BBQ day on April 15th from 1:00 to 4:00. Coach will be preparing the BBQ and there will be other sides. Casey will be with us as well performing on drums.
AdoptaPlatton is a new project WOTM is working on. This a Virginia wide program. We are asked to write “Thinking of You”
cards to US deployed troops. You can do cards, letters and children’s drawings. Please do not use “Happy Birthday” or holiday cards since we don’t know when they will receive them. There is a green folder taped to the office door where you can drop your cards/drawings. It also gives detailed instructions. Please do not sign your full name or give address information for security reasons.
Keep your eyes open for information on Safe Surfing. This is a Moose sponsored cyber awareness program. Jackie came to me several months ago and asked how we can help keep kids safe and this is our answer. There is a lot of helpful information for parents to help with their children.
If you have been involved in any community project or helped a friend or neighbor who is ill or needed assistance, the time you spent can be credit for WOTM community service hours. If you have any question as to what qualifies, please see us.
As my term closes, I want let Eva and Maria know how much I appreciate their serving on the Board with me this year. Where there is normally five members, we only had three this year. We didn’t have a Secretary/Treasurer and Cheryl, the Junior Grad moved to Florida for most of the year so we were short staffed. With these ladies and the support of our Lodge members, we were able to have a successful year.
We are working on getting our Award of Achievement and need membership numbers. If you haven’t renewed your dues, please do so. The pay for 2 years and get the 3rd free is still ongoing until April 30th.
We welcome you to join us every 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month at 7:00 pm.
Enjoy April and the warmer weather to follow!!

BUILDING UPDATE
The submission of the Administrative Modification to our Special Use Permit (SUP) was NOT approved by the PW County. We had to submit a new application for a SUP - which we did on February 5.
The approval process can take up to 9 months delaying our project and may entail changes to the building structure and/or design.
We will keep everyone updated via postings and FB.
