INTRODUCING OUR JUDGE.

MS D. PARKER. (VIC)

I started in the dog world 40 years ago when we purchased a pet Samoyed male from Bloric Kennels. I got involved with the club through Annette & Alan doing sled runs, working on the Club Social Committee and helping Annette & Alan with the showing of the Bloric team of Samoyeds.

I was hooked, got my own show dogs, bred a few litters, showed dogs for other people with other breeds, including Rottweilers, Newfoundlands, Alaskan Malamutes, Pyrenean Mountain Dogs, Keeshonds and even a Corgi.

From this love of dogs, I embarked on becoming a judge, I am licensed for Gr 6 and a trainee in Grs 5 & 7, and have had the pleasure of judging two Samoyed Specialties in New Zealand.

I am a panel member of the Dogs Victoria Disciplinary Committee and a Dogs Vic Representative, hold Secretary & Asst Secretary positions on 2 committee’s and I regularly ticket write at shows.

I currently have two Shiba Inu at home and whilst I no longer have a Samoyed, the breed will always hold a special place in my heart.

The Kalina Trophy will be offered as a special class and is for the best exhibit that is either an import or an exhibit whose sire and dam were bred outside of Australia. This includes progeny from litters produced by artificial insemination.

This will be judged as a separate class and entry will be automatic at The Samoyed Club of Victoria Inc Championship Show.

Only exhibits that have not been beaten by other eligible exhibits in the ordinary classes can compete (excepting if there is a separate judge contracted to judge the special classes).

THE BRITISH SAMOYED CLUB GOLD CUP FOR BEST EXHIBIT IN SHOW

During the 1939 - 1945 War, many food parcels were sent overseas by the late Miss E. Bradshaw and in the last few months of the war, by the Club, to Miss Keyte-Perry, and through her to the British Samoyed Club.

When the Australian (now Victorian) Samoyed Club was formed, it was Miss Keyte-Perry's wish that a trophy be sent for the Best Exhibit at our Championship Show. So, in 1946, the first "British Samoyed Club Perpetual Trophy", THE GOLD CUP, was awarded.
