Research Methodology

This chapter contains the research design. It presents the following: method of research used, instrument or tools in gathering data, source of data, method of collecting data, and statistical treatment of data.

Methods of Research

In this study, the researcher used the descriptive method of research. Descriptive research, also known as statistical research, it describes data and characteristics about the population or phenomenon being studied. Descriptive research answer the question who, what, where, when and how. It is concerned with condition of relationship that exists. Practices that prevails, beliefs and processes that are developing. This research defined as a purpose process of gathering, analyzing, classifying and tabulating data about prevailing conditions, practices beliefs process. Trends and cause-effect relationship and then making adequate interpretation on about such data with or without the aid of statistical methods.

Statistical Treatment of Data

The gathered data are grouped, tabled and carefully organized into five tables. Frequency, percentage and ranking are reflected in all the tables.

Instrument Used

The easiest and fastest way of gathering information is through questionnaire. According to Calderon and Gonzales (1993), a questionnaire is a set of question which, when answered properly by required number of properly selected respondents, will supply the necessary information to complete a research study.

The questionnaire was designed so that most of the respondents could be able to answer the question by placing a mark of check on the appropriate space provided on the right position of the questionnaire.

(4)

Every student was rated on the basis of the student nurses respondents affected on the scale. The scales used as follows: 5- Strongly Agree 4- Agree 3- No Comment 2- Disagree 1- Strongly Disagree

The researcher was guided by the following:

1. Formula

A. Formula computation

% = F/N x 100

Where: %= percentage

F= Number of responses for every item

N= total number of cases or respondents

B. For weighted mean computation

(5)

Where: WM= weighted mean

TWF= total product of the rank values or weighted of the categories or values interpretation multiplied by their respective frequency.

2. Table of Equivalent/Validation of the Instruments

Verbal Interpretation

There are descriptive words which give the verbal interpretation of the weighted mean.

Weight Range of Average weighted mean Category

5 4.20-5.0 Strongly Agree

4 3.40-4.19 Agree

3 2.60-3.39 Moderately Agree
