1. Introduction

With more than 20 years of experience, AMPC has gained an immense expertise in a vast variety of healthcare studies as well as the design, preparation, equipping & furnishing, commissioning and evaluation of medical projects.

Planning, coordination and monitoring, are strong assets of the organization.

AMPC’s main office is situated in the Netherlands, but at AMPC we actually consider the entire world our working ground. Our experience over the last years covers many countries in the Middle East, Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean. Our consultants, whether permanent, associated or freelance, come from several different backgrounds and have extensive experience in the field of healthcare projects. They all support our specific methodology, which can be summarized in the following keywords: independence, flexibility and quality.

AMPC International Health Consultants is an

independent consultancy firm, providing international

consultancy services in a wide range of healthcare areas.

2. Services

AMPC is a flexible and versatile company, with enthusiastic people and all activities geared to the needs of thecustomer. In the process of a project we familiarize ourselves with specific habits and practices of the particular country, organization and/or institution. This will ultimately contribute to the total quality of the project.

AMPC does not merely work for the client but prefers to cooperate with the principal and client. Our consultants do not impose their opinion as a specialized outsider and then leave you with a non-operational advice. They will operate as a partner in the total project team.

During the process of analyzing the problems and stakeholders issues, views on potential merits or difficulties and risks associated with possible interventions, are likely to be developed. This is all based on a logical framework approach, including goals, purpose, component objectives, risk analyses, outputs and activities.

The incorporation of the services of AMPC always has a double effect, both the supply of excellent consultancy and the spin-off and exchange of knowledge to the receiving organization. To yield the maximum result, AMPC prefers to be involved

from the early start of any project, however the experts can be included in any stage of the project. As an independent party, AMPC provides unbiased and ‘fresh’ advice. We keep ourselves informed on the latest developments in healthcare organization and equipment, but we have no commercial liaisons with manufacturers or suppliers.

Although many procedures, protocols and systems in healthcare projects throughout the world are the same, each project is unique and consequently has specific requirements. At AMPC we approach our clients accordingly: the only standard in our

General: as a first step to any project AMPC starts to

familiarize it self with the national and local context of the project country and project area. This means that desk research takes place into the countries socio-economic background. Furthermore, the epidemiological situation of the country and specific project region is mapped. This data will be verified and updated through site visits in the project country and project area. The gathered data will serve as a background for the most adequate, appropriate and sustainable solution for each individual project.

Hospital Design and Realization: AMPC is often

involved in projects for the design and realization of new (specialized) hospitals. Based on the local needs AMPC develops, together with the counterpart, a conceptual hospital(s). This means that based on the expected number and type of patients a list of needed departments is drafted. Based on the list of departments the number and type of rooms is defined. This list will serve as a bases for a conceptual architectural design. For this design APMC will cooperate with Dutch or local architects. AMPC will keep the lead in the design process in order to guarantee a logical and functional hospital lay-out. Furthermore, AMPC will develop a detailed equipment list, medical as well as furniture, per room, including the necessary technical specifications. In the whole process the whishes and financial capabilities of the client are leading.

Hospital Upgrading and Rehabilitation: AMPC

is an expert in improving nation wide health care service in general or for specific diseases, on both communicable as well as on non-communicable diseases. Together with the client AMPC will visit the selected hospitals in order to map the current situation. In those visits AMPC put an emphasis on quantity and quality of the available staff and medical equipment and on the physical status of the hospital. Based on the assessment and the

specific desires of the client AMPC develops a realistic nation wide upgrading plan, consisting of hospital rehabilitation, a detailed equipment list including the necessary technical specifications, and training programs. An important aspect of the design is always the financial capability of the client.

Project financing and management: Often it

occurs that after the project has been designed the actual realization never takes place, due to lack of financial resources. AMPC is well aware of (international) project financing possibilities and financing schemes from international donors and/ or development banks. Financing of the project is essential for the actual execution, hence, AMPC always incorporates a sound financial plan in all the projects it develops. Furthermore, AMPC has a vast experience in project management.

From the point of view of AMPC, project management starts after the project design has been approved and financing is guaranteed. AMPC can organize and coordinate the execution of any health care related project, including necessary tender procedures.

Management training: Apart from the

construction and/or rehabilitation of hospitals and the supply of medical equipment staff training is essential for the success of any project. Training focuses on application training, medical training, hospital management training, and facility management training. AMPC has a vast experience in designing and executing specific training programs in each of those areas. AMPC has a team of trainers available and close relation with international credited universities in order to guarantee the quality of the training programs. Gti. Project Design &
