Domestic
The domestic package of services is designed for the customer's time-sensitive needs. Its components include:
DTDC Lite represents the basic services for handling deliveries in express and cargo mode in India. There are
two services offered under this:
Domestic Express Services for delivering documents and small parcels.
Domestic Cargo Services for delivering heavier consignments that require special arrangements such as bigger vehicles, dedicated manpower and material handling equipment. It ensures priority deliveries at optimal costs, in both air and surface modes.
Value Added Service (VAS) includes the following:
Collect on Delivery (C.O.D.): For this product, the "invoice value" of the item dispatched is collected
from the consignee at the time of delivery.
To-Pay or Freight on Delivery (F.O.D.): For this product, the "courier or freight charges" of the
consignment are collected from the consignee at the time of delivery.
Mentioned Piece: This product offers "delivery of declared personal or valuable items", which are
delivered under a customized process ensuring complete safety and security of the tendered package.
Intracity includes the facility of pick-up and delivery in the same city. It is custom-built for the distribution of: Bulk documents such as mobile or insurance bills, bank statements and annual general reports.
Pamphlets, direct mailers, invitation cards and so on.
TechMailer is a state-of-the-art solution that provides effective management of mass and bulk consignments.
It features the following key benefits:

International
Over the last 22 years, DTDC has emerged as leading provider of Express, Courier & Logistics services across India. Along with the progress of Domestic
services, DTDC has witnessed strong growth in terms of its global outreach. Today, our dynamic range of products/services makes us one of the preferred service providers in the international space for both inbound and outbound movement of shipments.
DTDC has strategic tie-ups and business arrangements with key global players to provide services in more than 240 countries around the world. In addition to this, DTDC has extended its service network around the world through its own subsidiary offices, joint ventures, representative offices and franchisees abroad. While UK offices caters to the European market, our US and Canada offices cover the American continent. Singapore office serves Asia-Pacific Region, and the Dubai office manages the Middle East countries. DTDC has recently acquired a majority stake in Eurostar Express of UAE, thereby strengthening its position and reach in the Middle East and addressing the market more effectively through highly innovative products. This also made DTDC the first Indian Express company that made an international acquisition. DTDC covers Turkey, Kenya and Oman through a network of business associates and master franchisees. Important SAARC countries like Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Sri Lanka are managed by key business associates and are serviced from India.
Recently, DTDC also set up a joint venture in China with Air Dragon Freight (Beijing) Co Ltd. becoming the first Indian Express company to have its presence in China. Presently, DTDC China Limited operates from three locations: Shanghai, Beijing and Guangzhou. The company is in the process of setting up joint ventures in Australia and Germany to cater to the express distribution needs of customers in those countries. DTDC‟s international services comprise of delivery services for both documents & parcels, covering almost all countries around the globe.
DTDC has thus successfully transformed itself from a domestic courier company to a full scale supply chain solutions provider offering domestic and international express, freight, transportation, logistics management, warehousing and distribution services.

International Document Express Services is Expedited Air Express Services, designed to deliver
time-sensitive documents worldwide.
International Non Document Express Services is Air Parcel Services, designed to deliver parcels

2. Cargo Services
Door to Door (Express / Economy Services) is the movement of large commercial shipments either
on express or economy mode from origin door to destination door.
Door to Airport (Express / Deferred Services) is the movement of large commercial shipments either

Airport to Airport (Express / Deferred Services) is the movement of large commercial shipments
from origin airport to destination airport.
Additionally, over the years, we have introduced many customized products such as:
Student Express: This product has been designed specifically to address to critical and sensitive
needs of the Student segment. Students from India sending application forms, statements of purpose, and other personal documents to universities and institutes abroad can now avail attractive schemes from DTDC that include special prices, 24/7 online tracking, free home pick-up and guaranteed delivery.
Excess Baggage: Often, our customers who are relocating to/from, vacationing or visiting loved ones
charges by the airlines. We offer seamless and relatively cost-effective solutions with safe packaging and reasonable time frames of delivery, for such requests.
Imports Express : Subject to custom clearances and various other permits required, we offer
solutions for Import into India through Express modes.
International Cash on Delivery: Our customers outside India can request pick-up from anywhere in
India at their local DTDC offices and receive them at their doorstep, with payment made by the consignee on receipt of shipment.

DTDC Plus is further sub-divided into the following categories:
City Plus is available for shipments to be sent from a given city and delivered within the same city in
the "Plus" category, for select pin-codes.
Regional Plus is available for shipments to be sent from a demarcated region and delivered within the
same region, for select pin-codes.
Zonal Plus is available for shipments to be sent from a zone and delivered within the same zone, for
select pin-codes. The service is available in all the four zones – north, east, south and west.
Metro Plus is available for shipments to be picked up from select pin-codes all over India and
delivered to the six metros - Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad.
National Plus is available for shipments to be picked up from select pin-codes in any of the four zones
and delivered to select pin-codes in non-metro locations across India.
DTDC Blue provides assured Second Business Day (SBD) delivery to remote destinations with limited
connectivity, where cargo cannot be delivered at the next business day.

DTDC Blue Services
Zonal Blue is available for shipments to be sent from select pin-codes within a zone and delivered to
select pin-codes within the same zone. The service is available for all the zones.

delivered in the metropolitan cities of Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad.
National Blue is available for shipments to be sent from select pin-codes from all over the country
and delivered to select pin-codes at non-metro locations. This service is available in all the four zones.
Prime Time Plus (PTP) is a guaranteed service for time-bound deliveries of consignments, within the next
possible business day. It is customized for time-critical shipment needs of both Business-to-Business (B2B) and Business-to-Customer (B2C) segments.

Each of these services assures delivery within a stipulated time, barring unforeseen circumstances (including force majeure).
Prime Time Plus 10.30 AM: ensures delivery of consignments by 10.30 AM, the next possible business day from
select origins to select pin-codes at select locations. It includes four categories based on geographical locations:
City Prime Time Plus 10.30 AM, within the same city
Regional Prime Time Plus 10.30 AM, within the same region
Zonal Prime Time Plus 10.30 AM, within the same zone
Metro Prime Time Plus 10.30 AM, for delivery to metros

weighing between 25 to 100 kilograms.

PEC Service
PEC Regional Plus ensures next business day (NBD) delivery within the region to select pin-codes. PEC Zonal Plus ensures NBD delivery within the zone to select pin-codes, and is available for all the

PEC National Plus ensures NBD delivery from select pin-codes to select pin-codes at non-metro
locations, for all the four zones.
PEC Metro Plus ensures NBD delivery for the metropolitan cities of Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai,
Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad from select pin-codes all over the country.
PEC Zonal Blue ensures second business day (SBD) delivery within the zone to select pin-codes, and is
available for all the four zones.
PEC National Blue ensures SBD delivery for all the zones to select pin-codes at non-metro locations. R–Express ensures express movement in surface via railway, OTC or company-owned vehicles plying
on express routes. These consignments avail the fastest surface transport mode available.
Deferred Express Cargo (DEC) ensures economical surface movement through company leased
long-haul vehicles run by the Supply Chain Solution Department.
Priority
Realizing the need to cater to a very niche client base that includes large corporate clients, multi-nationals, financial institutes, and banking and insurance companies, DTDC has introduced an exclusive product called Priority Product.
This product gets special attention in terms of its deliveries done at the destinations. We follow a special operating procedure for this product that entails:

Service Features
DTDC showcases exclusive features that endorse its brand and positioning. It maintains high standards and quality with a set of simple principles and smart technology:
Reliability
DTDC tracks and traces the consignment with its customized software named Consignment Tracking and Billing System (CTBS). Delivery commitment is ensured with added focus on minimizing possible delays in the delivery timeline. The client is involved in the process, with transparency about the consignment transit time and a feedback mechanism of the delivery details.
Safety
DTDC has incorporated a system of reports that double checks the consignment status right from pickup, delivery and receipt of the Proof of Delivery (POD) details into the CTBS system and the internet. A chain of records is generated for every process to which the consignment is subjected. This also detects any damages to the consignment at every stage of its journey. The consignment is also tracked at every stage to identify and minimize delays.
Security
For all bookings done over the counter and from cash counters, the cargo is physically checked for restricted and banned items. The consignments picked up from regular customers are also subject to random check for corrosive, poisonous or explosive contents or any other substance that may cause damage to the mode of transportation of the cargo.
All airlines insist on a written declaration for every bag handed over for carriage. The format clearly defines the list of hazardous products and incorporates the courier's acceptance of the stipulated conditions as well. Should any of the banned or hazardous items be detected, the airline is authorized to ban the transportation of the courier on all sectors with immediate effect.
Conditions of Carriage
Applicability: The provision set out and referred to in the consignment note shall apply to modes of transport used by DTDC for connection of consignments. They also apply if the mode of transport as described on the face of the consignment note is contrary to the original contract between the parties or performed by one or more modes of transport which may not be the defined mode of delivery of the consignment as agreed in the consignment note.
Definitions
o “DTDC” means DTDC Courier and Cargo Limited.
o “Parties” mean and include the consignor, the consignee and/or his/her authorized representatives.
o “Freight” referred to in the consignment note means the transportation charges alone and it excludes the other components like COD / TO PAY / MENTION PC charges, taxes and other levies.
o Delivery means tender of shipment to the parties or intimation about arrival of the shipment at the destination.
DTDC is entitled to use any mode and route for transportation.
DTDC is a private carrier and its rights and liabilities are governed exclusively by the express terms set out herein below, subject to the applicable laws. The consignment note constitutes a binding contract between DTDC and the parties.
The consignment note issued by DTDC shall be strictly based on the declaration given by the parties. DTDC shall not be responsible for any wrongful declarations contained in the consignment note and the parties shall remain solely liable for the same in the event of goods undergo consequential loss/ refund. Further the parties agree to make good any losses to DTDC in case of any claims being lodged
on DTDC on account of delays arising out of insufficiency of documents or wrongful declaration contained in the consignment note.
DTDC's RIGHT OF INSPECTION OF CONSIGNMENT
o DTDC has the right but not the obligation to open and / or inspect any shipment consigned by the consignor to ensure that all the items are capable of carriage to the destination within the standard operating procedure and handling methods. DTDC does not warrant that any particular item to be carried is capable of carriage without infringing the law of any state of the country from / to or through which the item may be carried.
o DTDC reserves the right to refuse the consignor not conforming to these terms and conditions without assigning any reasons whatsoever.
The parties are solely responsible for all / any payments levied by the government or any statutory body in respect of any consignment.
The parties hereby declare that the consignment covered under the consignment note does not include any contraband / legally restricted / hazardous / flammable/ poisonous/ explosive / currency / jewelry / food coupon / share certificate or articles categorized as prohibited under the regulations of the IATA (International Air Transport Association).
DTDC shall have a general lien over all the consignments of the parties towards any dues payable to DTDC by the parties.
DTDC shall not entertain any warehouse booking & delivery unless the declaration form available with the concerned operating units is duly filled up along with the necessary enclosures and handed over to the concerned person.
The parties shall pay the freight and other charges at the time of booking or within the payment period stipulated in the consignment note. In case of non –payment of the bill amount within the stipulated time the parties shall be liable for payment of interest at the rate of 2% per month. The bills will be raised even if POD (Proof of Delivery) copy is not submitted.
DTDC advises the parties to insure the goods handed over to DTDC for transportation under the consignor insurance. In the event of any loss DTDC shall provide COF (certificate of facts) on request. A COF charge of 0.2% on the invoice value shall be charged.
No claim shall be entertained by DTDC for any loss or shortage / damage / non-delivery / breakage / leakage / pilferage, etc. of the consignment unless a written claim is lodged within three (3) days from the date of delivery subject to the provisions under risk coverage or general liability clause of DTDC.
Value added services COD / TO PAY are provided at additional charges over and above the freight charges without any liability on DTDC‟s part whatsoever with respect to the original contractual obligations or payment terms between the consignor and consignee or any third party.
Subsequent to booking of a consignment if the consignor makes any changes in the address or any other changes, additional charges shall be levied as a result of such a change.
It is the responsibility of the consignor to provide the necessary documentation including but not limited to invoice, packing list, permits and forms as applicable in accordance with laws of the destination of the goods. Any consequences including but not limited to penalty seizures shall be the sole responsibility of the consignor.
If the parties do not take delivery of the consignment for any reason whatsoever, DTDC shall raise bills on the parties towards the transportation and other charges including transport charges in accordance with the terms of the contract and the parties shall be liable to pay all dues payable to DTDC whether at the original booking station or elsewhere as notified by DTDC.
The demurrage clause shall apply for a period of one (1) month and if the consignment is not accepted by the parties within this period for any reasons and the parties fail to make the payments due to DTDC, DTDC shall be entitled to send the consignment to its unclaimed goods department to proceed with the sale of the consignment to realize all dues by issuing prescribed notices.
Consignments carrying valuable items may take an additional day, over and above the committed delivery due to security reasons and inspection process in between.
The Business operations of DTDC are decentralized and operational autonomy provided to the respective operational zones based on geographical coverage. Operational empowerment and
responsibility rests with the respective zonal heads on an exclusive basis for performance of all obligations of DTDC under the consignment note. The directors of DTDC are not directly involved or responsible for individual consignment notes for which exclusive responsibility rests as said with the respective zonal heads / product heads.
The liability of DTDC if any, in delay of the shipment (subject to any exceptions available under law) shall be to the extent of basic freight charges only. DTDC shall not be responsible for any
consequential losses/claims.
All demands claims arising from the consignment note shall be paid at the registered office of DTDC situated at no 3. Victoria Road, Bangalore. Karnataka and all demands by DTDC shall be deemed to have been made by DTDC Bangalore.
Any dispute or differences arising from any consignment shall be referred to adjudication by a sole arbitrator. DTDC shall be entitled to nominate the sole arbitrator to adjudicate any dispute
differences or claims arising out of any consignment. The venue of arbitration shall be at Bangalore. Courts at Bangalore shall have the exclusive jurisdiction on all claims arising from any consignment.
The terms and conditions stipulated are in addition to special contracts, if any between DTDC and the parties.

The consignments should not contain any such items or materials which are prohibited or contraband by the law of the land. In the event of any consignment containing any of the aforesaid items or material, the Customer agrees and undertakes to indemnify the Company in respect of all claims and losses that occur in respect of such consignments. Further the customer will be solely responsible for any cost and consequences for booking and couriering such item or material through the Company.
Risk Surcharge
What is risk surcharge?
It is a provision from the company for the benefit of the customer to protect against the transit risks when the goods are not insured by consignor. The coverage is extended if customer chooses to avail the provision by paying the stipulated risk coverage charges. This should not be construed as insurance cover as risk surcharge cover will have only a limited liability on the part of the company subject to the terms and conditions laid out.
Applicability of risk surcharge
Risk surcharge is applicable to all Premium Express Products and consignments booked under D, V and W series. However, products and consignments that are booked under „Mentioned Piece‟ will only have Mentioned Piece charges as levied covering the risk.
Key Points
1. DTDC Plus and DTDC Blue: Maximum shipment value is restricted to Rs. 25,000/- per consignment.
2. COD /TO PAY/Mentioned Piece/D Series: Maximum shipment value is restricted to Rs. 50,000/- per consignment.
3. Consignments booked under “F” and Regional series shall have limited liability of Rs. 100/- per consignment only.
4. Any valuable shipment should be booked under „Mentioned Piece‟ or D series can be transacted only either with a valid insurance cover from the Consignor or by risk surcharge up to a maximum value limit as per the product category.
5. Over and above the maximum value limits the consignments should carry the insurance cover by the consignor as mandatory requirement.
6. Whenever the risk coverage is by way of insurance by consignor a COF charge is levied at the rate of 0.2% of the declared value.
7. If a consignment is neither covered under risk surcharge nor under its own insurance policy by the consignor, the maximum liability on any claim due to loss or damage is restricted to Rs. 500/- and if booked under the Mentioned Piece the declared value of the consignment will not exceed the value limit.
8. All consignments under VAS and D series should be complete with all relevant documents like invoice, Tax forms etc as applicable. It is the responsibility of the consignor to provide the necessary documentation. Any failure in this regard to comply with any of the terms and conditions laid down under the contractual terms of the consignment will make all liability clauses on part of the carrier null and void.
9. Consequential losses of any kind will not be considered.
10. Volumetric Weight
11. The value of a shipment can be affected by the amount of space it occupies during distribution, rather than the actual weight which is known as volumetric (or dimensional) weight.

Mr. Subhasish Chakraborty, Founder, Chairman and Managing Director of DTDC pioneered DTDC‟s unique franchise-based business model that is not only the first of its kind in the Industry but also has been emulated overseas and studied as a business case by leading management institutes. This distinctive model has
facilitated the creation of the organization‟s formidable reach in India, as well as cultivated entrepreneurship opportunities for its partners.
Mr. Chakraborty had envisioned an India that would witness phenomenal economic growth with the biggest drive coming from Tier II and Tier III locations. Following this vision, DTDC initiated the expansion of its franchisee network in "B" and "C" category cities, that too by offering subsidized investment rates at the start-up stage.
The franchisee system assists start-ups with minimal capital investment and helps them generate business and profit for themselves and for DTDC, in return. Beginning with the lowest, a franchisee can avail DTDC's franchise by investing 75,000 INR within an area of 75 square feet. There are other options too, wherein a franchisee can partner with the brand by investing 1 lakh to Rs 1.5 lakh INR.
Background & History
The fundamental idea behind the DTDC franchise mechanism, was to foster entrepreneurship; create entrepreneur opportunities for people from all walks of life; and form a channel for social change. This ideology led to the insight to create budding entrepreneurs out of energetic business-minded individuals, who had the desire but lacked the guidance and the resources to start on their own. Their alignment with DTDC through the low-cost franchise system supported their requirements of capital, access to technology, equipment and knowledge. This ignited their pursuit for enterprise and transformed DTDC into a household name. It also created uncharted employment avenues for the downtrodden and empowered innumerable first-time, independent and unorganized entrepreneurs.

Structure
Aligned with its founding principles, DTDC's franchisee model has been structured to address the requirements of a robust pan-India presence and highest service levels for clients. Internationally, DTDC ensures presence via subsidiaries, joint ventures, representative offices and franchisees as well.
As the key elements of this framework, the following categories of franchisees currently operate in DTDC:
Single Unit Franchisee
This is the most basic form of the franchisee in the DTDC system, which covers more than 95 percent of its network and contributes to 75 percent of its business. This type of franchisee represents a small territory or a particular pin-code. They are responsible for the development of the business and serving the customers within a limited territory.
Master franchisee represents a franchisee-operated unit in an area within the city limits of the Regional Office, with one or more of the reporting franchisees under its purview. In addition to the role of the Single Unit Franchisee, the MF is responsible for operations and development of the other franchisees within its territory.
Super Franchisee (SF)
Super franchisee represents a franchisee-operated unit in an independent territory or district within a region, with one or more reporting franchisees. It acts as an extended branch that is responsible for business
development, operations and servicing of the clients. They are a key member of the system and the appointment procedure for SF is different from the two franchisee categories mentioned above.
Corporate Franchisee (CF)
An experienced individual from the industry, with basic office infrastructure, an investment capacity and business contacts with corporate houses, is eligible to become a DTDC Corporate Franchisee to promote its products and services. This is a highly specialized form of franchisee, which the company appoints selectively. All the above franchisees are responsible for the protection of the DTDC brand and upholding the corporate image in their territory or area of operations.
New franchises are given the opportunity to join as Single Unit Franchisees, and slowly graduate to higher categories explained above.
