SPECIAL THANKS TO OUR AUCTION LOT DONORS
A Benefit Gala for
Jazz Education Programs
For the past ten years the
Healdsburg Jazz Festival Gala has
been raising funds to support the
organization’s highly acclaimed
music education programs offered
for Healdsburg and Geyserville area
schools. In addition
this year the
Healdsburg Parks and Recreation
Department will team up with the
Healdsburg and Geyserville area schools. In addition
this year the
Healdsburg Parks and Recreation Department will team up with
the Healdsburg Jazz Festival to bring Tacuma King to Healdsburg
for a series of classes for ages 18 months to adults.
Thousands of students have been reached through HJF
programs including Operation Jazz Band, which teaches the fifth
graders the fundamentals of jazz, as well as, popular song, dance
and drum workshops for younger students. “These programs
seek to inspire and educate students to the culturally diverse
world of jazz,” says Jessica Felix, Artistic Director. Additionally,
the Gala raises funds for visiting world-class jazz artists to give
music clinics, as well as provide scholarships to students for
private instruction and instrument rentals.
The Healdsburg Jazz Festival’s mission is to “stimulate
interest in and promote awareness and appreciation of jazz by
facilitating cross-cultural interaction, providing performance
opportunities, and educating young people and adults about the
important role of jazz as an indigenous American art form.”
