A n u m b e r of e x p e r i m e n t s h a v e s h o w n t h a t r e l a t i o n a l t h e s a u r i c a n
s i g n i f i c a n t l y i m p r o v e t h e e f f e c t i v e n e s s of a n i n f o r m a t i o n r e t r i e v a l s y s t e m (Fox, 1980; E v e n s et al., 1985; W a n g et al., 1985).
