made on her loom! People came from all over to see her work. Everyone said only Arachne could weave such soft and bright cloth.

But all this praise made Arachne very proud. “No one else can weave so beautifully in the whole world!” she boasted. “Even the goddess, Athena, cannot spin and weave like me!”

Saying this, she looked up from her loom. She saw a beautiful, tall young woman standing before her. The grey eyes of the woman were very sharp and bright.

“Who are you? What is your name?” asked Arachne.

“Arachne,” said the woman, “I m Athena, the queen of the air. I’ve heard your boast. Do you think you can weave and spin better than I can?”

“Indeed I do,” said Arachne. “Can you spin fine threads of yarn like these? Can you weave cloth soft and bright as mine?”

Athena was very angry when she heard this. “We’ll both weave a piece of cloth on our looms,” she said. “Let the great god Zeus be the judge. If he says your work is better than mine, I shall stop weaving forever. But if I’m better, you have to stop.”

music with it. His name was Karim.

One fine day, while he was practicing his favourite song he heard a loud splash from the sea. Right before his eyes, he saw the princess of the sea coming out of the water. She sat on a rock nearby and listened to Karim's beautiful music.

When he had finished, she asked him if he could take a journey to the bottom of the sea. He agreed. She then gave him a strange brightly coloured mixture to drink. She explained that the mixture would allow him to breathe in the water.

In the sea, Karim saw seahorses, colourful corals and lots of other beautiful sea creatures he had never seen before. When both of them were in the sea king's big palace, Karim's sharp ears heard weeping sounds. He asked the Princess who they were and why were they crying. A tear trickled down the princess' cheek and she explained that the Sea King was dying and the sea princesses were weeping.

Karim went to see the sea king. The king's eyes were closed and he looked as if he would die soon. Karim felt sad too and he started to play a song called "Be Happy".
