PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Can/Am Youth Services, Inc. does business as ROSE HILL and was established by a group of local citizens in 1988. It has a mission to work with youth whose lives have become unmanageable because of a dependency on alcohol or other drugs.
ROSE HILL is a small, modern, residential rehabilitation facility located in rural Northern New York. Our thirty-bed facility allows for an intensive staff ratio of 2:1. The adolescent is engaged in the treatment process by completing an Orientation Process three to five days in duration.
Rose Hill has a unique therapeutic structure developed specifically for youth. Chemical dependency and adolescents are the business of ROSE HILL. This singular purpose gives us the flexibility to respond to the statements made by adolescents: “I will test every limit, and hope beyond hope that someone will stand their ground, even while I curse them; I AM SPEAKING AS LOUD AS I CAN.” At ROSE HILL we listen, and we call adolescents to wellness and recovery.

ADMISSIONS
Admissions to ROSE HILL can begin with a call to the Admission Office at (315) 764-9700 or by faxing a chemical dependency evaluation to (315) 764-9868. Evaluations can also be mailed to the address below.
All calls and correspondence will be held in the strictest of confidence, as will be subsequent treatment. After contacting the office, the Admissions Director will discuss treatment at ROSE HILL, and the appropriateness of this program for the adolescent in question.
The Admissions Team will review the application and evaluation. If it is approved, an admission date will be given, or an approximate waiting time. If care exceeds the program’s potential, options will be provided.

FAMILY SERVICES
It is our belief that chemical dependency is a family disease, and so the focus of the family services program is assisting families in working towards a new level of family health. Family services include:
¾ Orientation and education for family members
¾ Ongoing support by phone
¾ Family sessions twice monthly, or as needed
¾ Negotiation of a post-treatment behavior contract
¾ Referrals, as needed, for ongoing family counseling
¾ Coordination of family services with your referral source
EDUCATION
Within the first few days at Rose Hill you will meet with many staff members; one of them will be the teacher. You will sit down with the teacher to discuss your educational past, as well as to design a personalized education plan for your stay at Rose Hill. This plan is generally developed around one of three options:
¾ Homework coordinated with your home school
¾ GED preparation
¾ College/Vocational preparation
Residents at Rose Hill are involved in two hours of education each weekday. During this time you will be working on one of the above listed options. You will also learn concepts and theories designed to help you get in touch with the “sober” way to live a happy, healthy, more fulfilling life.
RECREATION
As a member of the Rose Hill community you are asked to participate in several activities. These activities will help you understand the dimensions of the disease using hands-on problem solving techniques.
The Recreation department at Rose Hill functions with two primary goals for the residents. First, we show you how to have fun and enjoy life without the use of chemicals. Second, we give you ideas for the use of your free time when you are no longer using drugs.
Some of the physical activities in which you may be involved include hiking, biking, horseback riding, weight lifting, swimming, bowling, fishing, and skiing, as well as some of the traditional sports. You may also have the opportunity to exercise the mind with trips to museums and art galleries, or a once in a lifetime trip to the Lake Placid Olympic Training Center to enjoy the bobsled, luge, or speed skating clinics.
