As a general design and implementation guideline, a default configuration has been chosen for all the packages installed. Typically, the default settings are also utilized where the only changes being made are to match computer names, domain, IP address, etc. MySQL is the chosen database package. AVNotes has been tested and is currently running on Version 3.23.46-1. Due to the standard implementation of the database code, later versions of MySQL should still be compatible.

The mobile solution has been built as a very Thin / Lite system which operates through the wireless Internet GPRS network with no requirement for any installation or download on the end user’s hand-held device. The information sent to the device through the GPRS network is as minimal as possible, to reduce the delivery of GPRS data transmission as well as overcome the barrier of 9600baud speed. In this way it meets functional requirements in providing a fast, mobile data communications solution.

Mobile end-users have the type of interface they have come to expect and the speed to make the solution truly functional, as there is no download of heavy images through the GPRS network. It is an ASP solution allowing the PDANotes product to be modified from a host server location, as opposed to requiring users to download “software upgrades”, saving time and money.

This is the AVNotes.com Desktop version that operates using an Internet browser from any desktop or laptop PC.

AVNotes.com enables lap-top business information from anywhere there is Internet access – home, office, airport, web café or Wi Fi ‘hot-spot’ by logging in with user name and password. The end user’s user name and password are the same for both the PDA version and the Desktop version of AVNotes.com.

To establish a videoconference, click on the name of the user you wish to conference and select the “Audio Visual Conference” option. You are then connected to the other user using IP to IP technology and Microsoft NetMeeting.

When an AV Conference is initiated with another user, IP address is automatically detected the other party is notified by an Audio ringing tone and a Conference request box.
