Explore the Church’s conviction that life here now is preparation for an extraordinary world that is yet to come – a supernatural destiny. Bishop Barron presents the Catholic vision of death, judgment, heaven, hell and purgatory.
The vision of the Church sees beyond this world and invites us to consider a world without end. Bishop Barron shows how this vision is supported by the mystery and truth of the death and resurrection of Jesus.
A valuable preparation for Lent and Easter!
Join us for this informative, award-winning video presentation and discussion.

Catholicism, Part 10: World without End
Page Three February 2, 2020
Dear Kobe,
Thank you for being an inspiration not just to me but to many others, especially those, like me, that grew up watching you. Your work ethic and how you put your all into something was inspiring and influenced
generations. Your mastery of the game of basketball was beautiful to watch not just because of the flashy moves and the great shots made but because it showed your passion and the hard work you put in the gym when no one was watching. Thank you for picking yourself up when you did fall, admitting fault and growing from these experiences into trying to become a better person. Thank you
for the “mamba mentality” you showed the world of never giving up and pushing yourself past your limits and pushing those around you to be their version of themselves. Thank you for being a man of God and thank you for being a Catholic basketball player that shared my faith. Thank you for showing that family is important in how you spent time with your daughters and wife, especially after your retirement. Thank you for going to Sunday Mass the morning of the tragic accident. Thank you for
all the fadeaway shots. Thank you for all the emphatic dunks. Thank you for all the dazzling crossovers. Thank you for carrying my team, the Lakers, when needed. Thank you for all your fierce comebacks you led. Thank you for the most missed shots in NBA history, showing us you have to take shots in order to make them. Thank you for 81 points. Thank you for 62 in 3 quarters. Thank you for your streaks of 40 and 50 point games.
Thank you for 60 in your final game. Thank you for all those buzzer beaters and game winners. Thank you for hitting the two freethrows with a torn achilles tendon. Thank you for leading USA to 2 gold medals.
Thank you for 5 championships. Thank you for your 20 years with the Lakers. Thank you for being a
different animal but the same beast. Thank you for inspiring all the NBA players today. Thank you for making me yell “Kobe!” every time I throw a crumpled up piece of trash into a trash can. Thank you for making me love basketball. It’s time for you to rest in the eternal kingdom of the Heavenly Father with your daughter.
Rest up Kobe. I think you deserve it.
Love,
Fr. Louis Sung
May Kobe and Gianna Bryant, John and Keri and Alyssa Altobelli, Sarah and Payton Chester, Christina
Mauser, and Ara Zobayan rest in the eternal peace of Christ.

“Mary and Joseph took Jesus up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord…” Luke 2:22
In today’s Gospel reading Mary and Joseph bring Jesus to the Temple and watch as their little Baby Boy is prayed over and
lifted, presented to the Lord. What a beautiful tradition to present your
son or daughter to the Lord no matter what their age. This week gather as a family
and present your child/children to the Lord.
Make the Sign of the Cross on their forehead and pray,
Father, inexhaustible source of life and author of all good,
we bless you and we thank you for brightening our communion of love by your gift of children. Grant that our child/children will find in the life of this family such inspiration
that they will strive always for what is right and good and one day, by your grace, reach their home in heaven. We ask
this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

I'm no scripture scholar, but I heard something interesting on AM 930, the Catholic Radio station.
The people Jesus helped in the Bible stories, are people who asked Him for help: 'heal me', 'cure my servant', 'have pity on me', 'I want to see'.
We do well to take a cue from scripture.
Ask God for what you want, acknowledge His will be done and you will, in time, get a personalized answer.
Sign up to be a committed Adorer before the Blessed Sacrament in our Chapel.
Jesus is longing to spend time with you and lavish His graces upon you and your family!
Please call Donna Obcamp at (805) 551-2393 or email her at [email protected].

The importance of making rules - As parents, we want our children to see us as their allies and teachers, not just the people who lay down the law.
But sometimes, rules are more effective — rules are simple and easy to remember, and leave no room
for error. When it comes to your child’s safety, rules are critical. And when it comes to your child’s body,
rules can help them understand how to protect themselves from predators. Establishing rules about who can see or touch their bodies is an important part
of preventing child sexual abuse. For more information, request a copy of the VIRTUS® article
