Windows XP / Internet Explorer

1. Log on to your computer

2. You will need to connect to the following SSID: RGNS Net

3. Once connected to the correct SSID, Open IE and you will be directed to the registration page.

4. Click “Start” next to the “Rabun Gap Network Users” and fill in the following form, and then click the download button.

User name and passwords are the same ones you use to log into windows on a school computer.

5. You will then be prompted to run or save a file, save this file to your desktop and then run it from there. This file will check to make sure that your computer meets the anti-virus

requirements needed to use the RGNS Wireless Network. If your computer passes, you will see a page telling you that registration was successful and your wireless connection will be reset in order to join the network. If your computer fails, you will see a page telling you why it failed and links to correct the problem. Once you have corrected the issue, run the scan program on your desktop again. Once you have successfully registered, continue to step six.

6. You will now have to change the following items in IE:

Click on Tools – Internet Options – Connections Tab – LAN Setting – Check

“Automatically Detect Settings” – Ok

Click on Advanced Tab and scroll down to the “Security” section and un-check the

“Enable Integrated Windows Authentication” option if selected and click “Ok”

7. Restart Internet Explorer

8. Use your school User Name and Password when prompted in the following format:

rgns_tech\<username>

password

9. Check the remember password box and click “Ok”

Windows XP / Firefox

1. Log on to your computer

2. You will need to connect to the following SSID: RGNS Net

3. Once connected to the correct SSID, Open Firefox and you will be directed to the registration page.

4. Click “Start” next to the “Rabun Gap Network Users” and fill in the following form, and then click the download button.

9. Check the option to remember your user/password in your keychain and click “Ok”

MAC OS X / Safari or Camino

1. Log on to your computer

2. You will need to connect to the following SSID: RGNS Net

3. Once connected to the correct SSID, Open Safari or Camino and you will be directed to the registration page.

4. Click “Start” next to the “Rabun Gap Network Users” and fill in the following form, and then click the download button.

5. If your computer passes, you will see a page telling you that registration was successful and your wireless connection will be reset in order to join the network.

7. Open up the “System” application and click on “Network”. On the “Proxies” tab, make the following changes:

Check the boxes next to Web Proxy and Secure Web Proxy

You will need to manually enter the web proxy information below:

o Address: 10.1.5.30 o Port: 8080

Apply the settings and open Safari or Camino

8. Use your school User Name and Password when prompted in the following format:

rgns_tech\<username>
