In extraordinary times like this, a health crisis that puts almost everything in jeopardy has also renewed our perspective on the true meaning of longevity. With COVID-19 vaccines being developed at breakneck speeds, we remain cautiously optimistic about the future of healthcare. How has advancements in preventive health, target treatment and healthtech paved the way for the next decade and beyond? While we are already living longer, can we also live better?

The real cost of healthcare
Sharing of the ASEAN landscape and implications for investors
Providing financing for healthcare system amid a global pandemic is a challenge for governments. What are the tangible and intangible costs of the COVID-19 pandemic? How can public and private sectors work together to cushion cost impact on the coronavirus?
Healthspan vs. lifespan: How to live longer and better
What is the root cause of chronic diseases like cancer, Alzheimer’s and cardiovascular diseases? The answer is simpler than what we think: it’s ageing. With a larger population growing older in developed nations like Japan and Singapore, it is projected by the World Health Organization that there will be 2 billion people over 60, up from 900 million in 2015. And while people are living longer, have we overlooked the significance of living better? Join Professor Brian Kennedy, Director of the Centre of Healthy Longevity at the National University Health System (NUHS) for a breakout session on his insights on ageing and how to overcome its effects.
Sustainable development goals on healthcare
We will explore emerging solutions in Asia, and how investors can mobilise the healthcare sector to make it work better for all.

David A. Sinclair, Ph.D., A.O. is a Professor in the Department of Genetics, Blavatnik Insitute, and co-Director of the Paul F. Glenn Center for Biology of Aging Research at Harvard Medical School. He is best known for his work on
understanding why we age and how to slow its effects. He obtained his Ph.D. in Molecular Genetics at the University of New South Wales, Sydney, in 1995 and did his postdoctoral research at M.I.T. with Dr. Leonard Guarente where he co discovered a cause of aging for yeast as well as the role of Sir2 in epigenetic changes driven by genome instability and aging.
In 1999 he moved to Harvard Medical School and has primarily focused on understanding why we age and the role of protective enzymes called the sirtuins, which respond to changing NAD+ levels, exercise, and caloric restriction (CR). The Sinclair lab was the first to identify a role for NAD biosynthesis in the regulation of lifespan and first showed that sirtuins are involved in CR’s benefits in mammals and identified the first small molecules that activate SIRT1 (STACs). His lab is alos working on epigenetic changes as a driver of aging and the use of reprogramming factors to reset the age of cells and tissues. He is the New York Times bestselling author of Lifespan (2019), has published over 200 scientific papers, is a co-inventor on over 50 patents, and has co-founded biotechnology companies in the areas of aging, vaccines, diabetes, infectious diseases, immunity and cancer.
