The aim set by the authors was achieved. Further studies will be aimed on the following stages of the verification of the results obtained by calculating the EES velocity for new entries in Subcompact cars NHTSA database as well as for other classes of vehicles. The authors plan to build a statistical tool allowing for more accurate determination of the EES velocity through the analysis of the deformation of the profile features function, that will yield results of higher accuracy than the currently used model of measurement of deformation in 6 points.

requirements of aviation regulations. In the fi nal phase of the strength tests, the project leader will proceed to the integration and testing of systems in laboratory conditions, since the plan assumes the use of Commercial-Off -Th e-Shelf (COTS) elements. Th erefore, such components as electric motors, a combustion engine (if hybrid-system solution is selected), control system, autopilot, batteries, regulators and propellers will be selected and purchased. Maximising the use of COTS elements will signifi cantly reduce the operating costs of the UAV, and signifi cantly facilitate future maintenance. In the next stage, the joint partner will start work on the dedicated IT system for acquisition and processing of data collected during the fl ights over the gas supply networks. Practically simultaneously, the leader will begin fi eld tests of real models and then the demonstration prototypes. Field testing will be conducted in an open and wooded area. For the last six months, the UAV will be equipped with an IT system and the fi nal results will be verifi ed. Similarly to the previous stages, information exchange between consortium members will become crucial, and will aff ect the project success – it will take place via the website (with unlimited access granted solely to consortium members and general access to anyone interested in the project).

The Parameterization of the Torque on a Regulating Ring and the Optimization of the Guide-Vane Mechanism of a Bulb Turbine

The Parameterization of the Torque on a Regulating Ring and the Optimization of the Guide-Vane Mechanism of a Bulb Turbine

A reduction of the torque on the controlling ring by 7% does not look like much, at first. But it does reduce the cost of a guide wheel and the hydraulic equipment. The energy consumption for operating the guide wheel is also reduced. Another of the results of the successful optimization is the stimulation for further work in this area. This would be with multi-objective optimization, which can also be performed in Pro/E. Optimizing of the mechanism with several objective functions with more variables and more constraints would be useful, primarily for building in an elastic guide-vane link that requires its own length. The distance of the controlling ring from the pivot point of the guide vanes would be optimized in this case.

Building a strategy for the development of a university using the methodology of strategic sessions on the example of the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź

Building a strategy for the development of a university using the methodology of strategic sessions on the example of the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź

The team working on solving the problem must equip themselves with small cards (fiches). These cards are used to write down ideas. Each team member working on the problem has to write down as many ideas as possible, but the basic rule is to write one idea per card. Writing down ideas in this way gives every team member the opportunity to express their opinion, because there is no possibility for the leader to dominate the group or for those team members who have a low level of assertiveness to break through with their ideas. Writing down also guarantees that no ideas will be lost during further stages of work. After the generation of ideas is completed, the next step is to organize the information. The team has to organize the cards, making them into groups of the same thematic categories. The work with the diagram ends when the team has put all the ideas in order. The next step, i.e. the selection of specific ideas, will be the result of the methods described later in the article.

The possibility of overcoming barriers in international cooperation in the area of R&D from the point of view of a research unit, based on the example of the Institute of Aviation

The possibility of overcoming barriers in international cooperation in the area of R&D from the point of view of a research unit, based on the example of the Institute of Aviation

Taking into consideration the barriers in international cooperation for Polish entities in the area of R&D, it is necessary to point out that the model of cooperation adopted by ILOT and GE efficiently reduces the above-mentioned limitations. In course of cooperation both ILOT and GE have worked out good practices of international cooperation within the R&D area, which can be useful for other Polish organizations planning, or already carrying out similar projects. The utilization of the experiences of the Institute of Aviation can thus verify the assessment of barriers in international cooperation in the area of R&D with Polish participation, or may help work out mechanisms reducing the transactional costs of cooperation. As a result, this will make it possible to raise the activity of Polish companies and research units in international cooperation in the area of R&D.

An Introduction to the Theory of Numbers

An Introduction to the Theory of Numbers

Quite recently there have been a number of results in a somewhat different direction by Brauer, Nagel, Skolem, Redei, and Kanold. Redei’s method is particularly interesting. He uses a finite projective geometrical analogue of the fundamental theorem of Minkowski on convex bodies to prove that for p ≡ 1 (mod 4), at least 1 7 of the numbers up to √ p are residues and at least 1 7 are non residues. Our own recent contributions to the theory are along these lines. We shall outline some of this work.

The Problem of the Valuation of the National Wealth of Russia

The Problem of the Valuation of the National Wealth of Russia

Russia over the last little more than 100 years has experienced many upheavals of revolutions, wars, arms races, technical and technological modernizations, changes in politics and economics. All this affected the qualitative and quantitative state of the national wealth, its value terms in statistics. In general approach, the dynamics of the content of the national wealth is seen through the passage of successive links in the chain: resources - their value on the market - the amount of stocks - the time and conditions of the assessment. In this regard, each of the outlined above approaches to the definition of the essence of national wealth and its value in its own way reveals that chain. And there is not always a direct correlation between the “visible” potentials and those that become result of certain human activities, their attitude to work, country and life.

E-Learning program “Introduction to the Science of Folk Culture”: Evaluation of the semester course “Introduction to Folklore”

In this part of the research, the aim and expectations (pre and post) of the six-month course were investigated. More specifically, the investigation focuses on the motives and expectations of participants in the semester course associated with new knowledge and skills of the subject, skills in information and communication technologies, the certificate of participation, access to educational resources etc which trainees would acquire during their studies. Overall, a general observation that we can draw from the results suggests a high concentration of response rates in the "I am interested" and "I am very interested" options. This shows a high rate of expectations and expected goals but also a high rate of achievement of the original goals and expectations.

THE ROLE OF UNMANNED AERIAL VEHICLES IN THE FORMATION OF A SECURE MILITARY SUPPLY CHAIN

THE ROLE OF UNMANNED AERIAL VEHICLES IN THE FORMATION OF A SECURE MILITARY SUPPLY CHAIN

At the current technological development level, UAVs are remotely controlled by operators and need adequately trained personnel capable of installation, maintenance and service of a flying platform and its systems, i.e. sensors and weapons. The operator’s work is dependent on the sustainment of UAV communication systems, through which they can control platforms and collect relevant information from the battlefield. It is assumed that communication systems should ensure the guidance of UAV and keep image transmission in real time, which is difficult to achieve at the current level. This is especially important because of the necessity of long-term work of UAVs in the context of the force protection of logistic points and supply convoys. Therefore, no less important than aerial platforms are sensors and communication equipment which may have a decisive influence on the overall design of the system. The use of UAVs sensors have to balance the need of high resolution and sensitivity required with the requirements of the smallest possible system, which must be adjusted to the available platform without increasing weight. In the case of imagery surveillance, UAV parameters depend on the compilation of the flight altitude with the resolution and sensitivity of used sensors.

Introduction to the use of belatacept: a fusion protein for the prevention of posttransplant kidney rejection

Introduction to the use of belatacept: a fusion protein for the prevention of posttransplant kidney rejection

Abstract: The development of new immunosuppressive drugs for kidney transplantation resulted both in better short-term outcomes and in decreased metabolic, cardiovascular, and nephrotoxicity risk. Belatacept belongs to a new class of immunosuppressive drugs that selec- tively inhibits T-cell activation by preventing CD28 activation and by binding its ligands B7-1 and B7-2. The result is an inactivation of costimulatory pathways. A comparative analysis of the BENEFIT and BENEFIT-EXT datasets showed belatacept regimens resulted in better cardiovascular and metabolic risk profiles than did cyclosporin A (CsA) regimens: belatacept likewise outperformed CsA in terms of lower blood pressure and serum lipids and less new onset diabetes after transplantation. About 20% of belatacept-treated patients developed adverse effects which included anemia, pyrexia, neutropenia, diarrhea, urinary tract infection, head- ache, and peripheral edema. At present, belatacept does not seem to predispose patients to a higher rate of infection than CsA maintenance immunosuppression. The risk of posttransplant lymphoproliferative diseases was higher in Epstein–Barr virus (EBV)-seronegative patients than in EBV-seropositive patients, but the risk may be reduced by use of a less intensive regimen and avoidance of EBV-negative patients and of patients whose pretransplant EBV serology is unknown. Belatacept provides a new option for immunosuppressive therapy in kidney transplan- tation, but needs further evaluation in terms of the late effects that may derive from prolonged blockage of the costimulatory system and the induction of tolerance status.

A Survey on the Amount of Positive Result of DWI in The Patients Suffering From TIA and the Correlation of this Patients With ABCD Scoring

A Survey on the Amount of Positive Result of DWI in The Patients Suffering From TIA and the Correlation of this Patients With ABCD Scoring

can be beneficent for determining the risk factor of the next ischemic and stroke. Patients with high ABCD score should be hospitalized and healed, while patients with lower ABCD score can be healed as an outpatient treatment. The ABCD2 is the corrected initial ABCD scoring . Studies show that the ABCD2 scoring can predict the stroke with a high precision and in the case of TIA, strongly predicts stroke within 24 hour, as it was determined in the study that 76% of the patients with a relapse, had a ABCD2 score of 5 and higher than 5. Many researches has been implemented in this case, such as: Crisostomo et al, in 2003 in which they studied DWI and determination of passive ischemic TIA attack. They demonstrated in their into-past looking study that DWI was beneficent to determine the patients suffering from ischemic (DWI is also beneficent in determination of acute ischemic damages). They also showed that the capability of determination precision of DWI is higher than MRI (13). Oppenheim et al in 2000 had a research entitled a survey of false negative result of DWI in acute ischemic strokes. In this study which was implemented on 139 hospitalized patients suffering from acute ischemic stroke, the items of false negative DWI was surveyed. The results depicted that the rate of false negative DWI in the PC-tias (19%) is meaningfully higher than false negative DWI in the AC-tias (2%). Also they described that the results of DWI for PC-TIA patients have not enough accuracy 14 . A study was done by Asimos et

The days of poetry are running out

The days of poetry are running out

But, it is true that humans had no knowledge about rhythm or rhyme when they started writing poetry. Rhythm has been an instinctive feature of the humans at the time of giving their speeches a permanent shape. As a result, not only epics but also ethics, law and history have been composed in poetry from generation to generation in ancient times. We all know about the great epics which were enriched by the poets from various ages. Some poet gifted with the extraordinary poetic license might give those epics the form with which we are acquainted now. Mankind’s maximum growth in the field of thought is found in those epics. The reason is that either there is no need for everybody to protect the day to day happenings or our brain cannot store that volume of content. So, the epics of the ancient period are replete with those kinds of similes or the supreme level of imagination which doesn’t conform to the reality and makes us think what kind of reality has given rise to this imagination 6 . Our material consciousness

Features of the Formation of the Corporate Identity of the Staff

Features of the Formation of the Corporate Identity of the Staff

According to Ogloblin V. modern enterprises consider the culture as a powerful strategic tool that allows to orient all units and individuals for the common goals, mobilize the initiative of employees and ensure productive interaction. The corporate culture is one of the mechanisms to coordinate individual goals with the overall purpose of the company, forming a common cultural space that includes values, norms and behavioral patterns shared by all employees. Therefore, the result and consequence of management of the corporate culture are as follows: corporate patriotism, loyalty of employees, devotion to the organization and an increase in the level of non-financial motivation of the staff (Ogloblin, 2010).

The Challenge of Change: A Case of Introduction of Genetically Modified Cotton in the Kingdom of Eswatini

The Challenge of Change: A Case of Introduction of Genetically Modified Cotton in the Kingdom of Eswatini

Hybrid cotton that is currently grown by Eswatini farmers is no longer producing high yield as it used to do in the past years. The product has reached a decline phase which is characterized by high production cost, low yields, and heavy pesticides application requirements. From a management point of view a product in decline phase needs to be phased out and replaced because it will be fool hardy to rejuvenate the product (Kotler, 2012). Cotton acreage has drastically reduced from 30,000 hectares to merely 3000 hectares (Cotton Board, 2013). Correspondingly, the number of cotton farmers in Eswatini has also decreased from 9000 to 3000 in the past 6 years (Cotton Board, 2013). The sector’s capacity to create employment directly, in cotton farms and indirectly,in the textile industry, and ginning, spinning, and weaving of fabric has gone downdrastically. This has been aggravated by labour migration from rural areas to the cities (Thomson, 2012). The country has to find strategies of filling the demand gaps created by dwindling cotton production over the years and cheaper technology to continue producing enough cotton to meet increasing demand. Opportunities that are not utilised when they arise will always be taken up by one’s competitors (Bimha & Bimha, 2018). Therefore, it is the researchers’ conviction that the introduction of genetically modified cotton seed is one of the viable options to tackle the cotton industry’s prevailing challenges. There is an urgent need to ascertain stakeholder willingness, capacity requirements and readiness to adopt genetically modified cotton technologyto replace hybrid cotton seed which has passed the maturity phase and is no longer economically viable.
