v ServeRAIDManager
TheServeRAIDprograms comewithyourserver.IfyourserverhasaServeRAID controllerinstalled,you mustusetheServeRAIDConfigurationprogramto define andconfigureyourdisk-arraysubsystembeforeyouinstallyour operating

Using the ServerGuide Setup and Installation CD
TheServerGuideSetupandInstallationCDprovidesstate-of-the-artprogramsto detecttheservermodelandhardware optionsthatareinstalled,configuresthe serverhardware,providesdevicedrivers,andhelpsyouinstallyouroperating system.Forinformationabout thesupportedoperating-systemversions,seethe labelontheCD.

v TheintegratedSCSIcontrollerwithRAIDcapabilitiesinyourserversupports only RAIDlevel1 witha hot-sparedriveinstalled.InstallinganoptionalServeRAID
v Tohelpensuresignalquality,donotmix driveswithdifferentspeedsanddata rates.
v Youcansetupamirroraftertheoperatingsystem isinstalledontheprimary driveonly ifyouareusingtheintegratedSCSIcontrollerwithRAIDcapabilities.
Youmust ensurethattheprimarydrivehasthelowerSCSIID(forexample0).
Important: Ifyou usetheintegratedSCSIcontrollerwithRAIDcapabilitiesto configureaRAIDlevel1(mirrored)array afteryou installthe operating system,youwillloseaccesstoany dataorapplications thatwere previouslystoredonthesecondaryphysicaldriveof the mirroredpair.
v Toupdatethefirmware andBIOSfor anoptional ServeRAIDcontroller,you must usetheIBMServeRAIDSupport CDthatcomeswithServeRAIDoption.
v Ifyouinstall adifferenttypeofRAIDcontrollerinyourserver,usethe
configurationmethodsuppliedwiththeRAIDcontrollertovieworchange SCSI settingsfor attacheddevices.
Using the LSI Logic Configuration Utility program
Completethefollowingstepsto starttheLSILogicConfigurationUtilityprogram:
1. Turn ontheserver.
2. When the prompt <<< Press <CTRL><C> to start LSI Logic Configuration Utility >>> appears,pressCtrl+C.If youhave setanadministratorpassword, youarepromptedto typethepassword.
3. Usethearrowkeystoselecta controller(channel) fromthelist ofadapters;
then, pressEnter.
4. Follow theinstructionsonthescreento changethesettingsof theselected items;then, pressEnter.TheDevicePropertiesandMirroringProperties choicesproduceadditionalscreens ofparameterstoreviewor change.

Using ServeRAID Manager

Using ServeRAID Manager in startable-CD mode
Theinformationinthissection focusesonusingtheServeRAIDManagerprogram instartable-CDmodeto configureyourcontroller.For informationaboutinstalling ServeRAIDManager, seethedocumentationontheIBMServeRAIDSupportCD.
When youruntheServeRAIDManagerprogramfromthestartable IBMServeRAID Support CD,youareusingstartable-CDmode,inwhich youcanconfigureyour controllerbeforeyou installyouroperatingsystem.
ToruntheServeRAIDManager programinstartable-CDmode,turnontheserver;
then, inserttheIBMServeRAIDSupportCDintotheCD-ROMdrive.Ifthe
ServeRAIDManagerprogramdetectsanunconfiguredcontrollerandreadydrives, theprogramautomaticallystartstheConfigurationwizard,andawindowsimilarto thatshown inFigure1opens.
Note: IftheintegratedRAIDcontrollerhastwochannels,it willappearinthe ServeRAIDManagertreeastwo controllerobjects.However,youcan configureonlyonearrayandoneRAIDlevel-1logicaldrive.
Using Expressconfiguration: Expressconfigurationautomaticallyconfiguresyour controller.It createsanarraybygroupingtogetherthefirsttwophysicaldrivesthat appearintheServeRAIDManagertree,andit createsaRAIDlevel-1logicaldrive.
Completethefollowingstepsto useExpressconfiguration:
1. In theServeRAIDManager tree,click thecontroller.
2. Click Expressconfiguration.
3. Click Next.The“Configurationsummary”windowopens.
4. Reviewtheinformationthatisdisplayedinthe“Configurationsummary”window.
Tochangetheconfiguration,clickModifyarrays.
5. Click Apply;then,clickYeswhenaskedif youwantto applythenew configuration.Theconfigurationissavedinthecontrollerandinthephysical drives.
6. ExitfromtheServeRAIDManagerprogramandremovetheCDfromthe CD-ROMdrive.
7. Restart theserver.
