3.4.1 Manage Local Folder
3.4.1.3 Delete Local Folder
Delete Local Folder option allows you to delete an already existing local folder. However, you are not allowed to delete the automatic folders that are pre-built into the system. In case you are allowed to manage the local folders, you will see a Manage Local Folder option on the Advanced Options screen. Refer to below screen:
The below screen provides a sample picture of the Delete Local Folder form as it appears on your screen. The title of the form viz. Delete Local Folder is displayed at the top. This is followed by a message that says - * Mandatory Field(s) must be filled in. This indicates that the field marked with asterisks must be filled-in and cannot be left blank.
Delete Local Folder form contains only one field as indicated below:
Local Folder Name – This field refers to the name of the local folder that you wish to delete. Once you select the Local Folder by clicking the Select Folder button, the name of the selected folder is displayed in the corresponding text-box.
The field has been super scribed with asterisk (*) mark indicating that it should be compulsorily filled-in.
Besides, you will see the following buttons on the form:
Select Folder – This button takes you to the Select Local Folder form, which allows you to select the folder that you wish to delete..
Delete – This button allows you to delete the selected folder.
Cancel – This button enables you to abort the Delete Local Folder operation and will take you back to the Advanced Options screen, from where you chose to open the Delete Local Folder form.
To be able to delete a Local Folder, follow the steps given below:
1) Open your Panchayat Portal Page (see the section on Visit Other State PR/
Panchayat Sites for details). Login with your UserId and Password. Refer to the section on Login for more details.
2) As you successfully login, the Portal Page displays an Advanced Options button.
Click this button to open a screen that displays a set of advanced options. In case you are allowed to manage the local folders, you will see a Manage Local Folder option on the Advanced Options screen.
3) Click Delete Local Folder placed under Manage Local Folder option. This opens up the Delete Local Folder form.
4) Click Select Folder button to select the local folder that you wish to delete. This opens up the Select Local Folder form.
5) Select the Portal Page and Navigation Portlet from the respective drop-down lists.
As you select a portal page and navigation portlet, a tree of folders/sub-folders for the selected navigation portlet is displayed to you.
6) Click the folder/sub-folder that you wish to delete. In case deleting of the selected folder is not allowed, a message: “Deleting this Folder is not allowed” is displayed to you. See the list of Messages given at the end of this section for more details.
7) Click the Confirm button to confirm your choice or click Cancel button to abort your selection.
8) In case you chose to confirm your selection in the previous step, you are taken back to the Delete Local Folder form and the folder that you selected in step 6 is displayed in the Local Folder Name text-box.
9) In case you chose to cancel the operation in the step 7, the system takes you back to the Delete Local Folder form without saving your selection.
10) Click the Delete button to delete the selected folder or click Cancel button to abort Delete Local Folder operation.
11) In case you chose to delete the local folder in the previous step, a message: “Click [OK] to confirm deletion or [Cancel] to cancel the Delete operation” is displayed to you.
12) In case you chose the click OK in the previous step, the selected local folder is deleted from the system and a message: ”Local Folder deleted” is displayed to you.
As you click OK, you are brought back to Delete Local Folder form to enable you to delete any other local folder, if you desire.
13) In case you chose to cancel the operation in step 11, the delete operation is aborted and you are brought back to Delete Local Folder form.
What happens when a Local Folder is deleted?
1) The deleted local folder and all the subfolders & content, if any, underneath it (or any of its sub-folder(s)) are no longer visible on the portal page in the navigation portlet where it was placed.
2) However, the content, if any, placed under the deleted folder or any of its sub-folders stays in the local system and you can retrieve it using Advanced Search, if you are allowed to do so.
3) The deleted folder and all the sub-folders underneath it, if any, are not available to you as parent folder(s) when you go for creation of a new folder.
4) You will not be able to view the deleted folder and all the sub-folders underneath it, if any, in the list of local folders in case the Local Folder field is visible to you while creating the content item, using Create Content Item. Refer to the section on Create Content Item for more details.
As you delete a local folder, you may be prompted with one of the following messages:

Manage User option is available under the Advanced Options. Under this module you can perform the following activities: User Privileges and Delete User. When you are allowed to Create User account for other users, you will see Create User Option under Advanced Options screen under the heading Manage User.
