3.4.1 Manage Local Folder

3.4.1.2 Renaming Local Folder

After a local folder is created using Create Local Folder, you may wish to change the name of the folder. Rename Local Folder option allows you to change the name of already created local folder.

However, you are not allowed to rename the automatic folders that are pre-built into the system. In case you are allowed to manage the local folders, you will see a Manage Local Folder option on the Advanced Options screen:

The below picture provides a sample picture of the Rename Local Folder form as it appears on your screen. The title of the form viz. Rename Local Folder is displayed at the top. This is followed by a message that says - * Mandatory Field(s) must be filled in. This indicates that the fields marked with asterisks must be filled-in and cannot be left blank.

Rename Local Folder form contains two fields as indicated below.

Local Folder Name – This field refers to the name of the local folder that you wish to change. Once you select the Local Folder by clicking the Select Folder button, the name of the selected folder is displayed in the corresponding text-box.

New Local Folder Name - This field refers to the new name of the local folder. You can type the desired name in the prescribed text-box.

Besides, you will see the following buttons on the form:

Select Folder – This button takes you to the Select Local Folder form, which allows you to select the folder that you wish to rename.

Save – This button allows you to save the entered data.

Cancel – This button enables you to abort the Rename Local Folder operation and will take you back to the Advanced Options screen, from where you chose to open the Rename Local Folder form.

To be able to rename a Local Folder, follow the steps given below:

1) Open your Panchayat Portal Page (see the section on Visit Other State PR/

Panchayat Sites for details). Login with your UserId and Password. Refer to the section on Login for more details.

2) As you successfully login, the Portal Page displays an Advanced Options button.

Click this button to open a screen that displays a set of advanced options. In case you are allowed to manage the local folders, you will see a Manage Local Folder option on the Advanced Options screen.

3) Click Rename Local Folder placed under Manage Local Folder option. This opens up the Rename Local Folder form..

4) Click Select Folder button to select the local folder that you wish to rename. This opens up the Select Local Folder form. .

5) Select the Portal Page and Navigation Portlet from the respective drop-down lists.

As you select a portal page and navigation portlet, a tree of folders/sub-folders for the selected navigation portlet is displayed to you.

6) Click the folder/sub-folder that you wish to rename. In case renaming of the selected folder is not allowed, a message: “Renaming this Folder is not allowed” is displayed to you. See the list of Messages given at the end of this section for more details.

7) Click the Confirm button to confirm your choice or click Cancel button to abort your selection.

8) In case you chose to confirm your selection in the previous step, you are taken back to the Rename Local Folder form and the folder that you selected in step 6 is displayed in the Local Folder Name text-box.

9) In case you chose to cancel the operation in the step 7, the system takes you back to the Rename Local Folder form without saving your selection.

10) Click inside the New Local Folder Name text-box and type the new name of the local folder.

11) Click the Save button to save the details or click Cancel button to abort Rename Local Folder operation.

12) In case you chose to save the details in the previous step, a message: “Local Folder was renamed successfully” is displayed to you. Click OK to continue. As you click OK, you are brought back to Rename Local Folder form to enable you to rename any other local folder, if you desire.

13) In case you chose to cancel the operation in step 11, you are brought back to Rename Local Folder form without saving the details entered by you.

What happens when a Local Folder is renamed?

1) The local folder with the changed name is displayed on the portal page in the navigation portlet under which it was created. To reach to the portal page from Rename Local Folder form, click the Back button. This takes you to the Advanced Options screen. Once again, click the Back button on the Advanced Options screen to reach to the portal page. On the portal page, you may need to expand the folders in the navigation portlet by clicking on the folder name to locate the folder that you have successfully renamed.

2) The folder that you have renamed will be available to you as a parent folder when you go for creation of a new folder.

3) You will also be able to view the renamed folder in the list of local folders in case the Local Folder field is visible to you while creating the content item, using Create Content Item. Refer to the section on Create Content Item for more details.

Messages

As you rename a local folder, you may be prompted with one of the following messages:
