1.3 QUALITY ASSURANCE

had been substituted for "should" wherever "should" appears.
D. For conflicts in the provisions of the ACI publications, ACI 301 shall govern. For any conflicts between the ACI publications and this specification, this specification shall govern.
PART 2 PRODUCTS
2.1 FORM MATERIALS
A. Conform to ACI 301.
B. Plywood forms: APA B-B Plyform Class I sound undamaged sheets.
C. Lumber: spruce-pine-fir #2 or better; with grade stamp clearly visible.
D. Steel Forms: Minimum thickness to support weight of concrete with minimum deflection.
E. Form Ties: removable or snap-off metal, of fixed or adjustable length.
2.2 REINFORCING STEEL
A. Reinforcing Steel: ASTM A615, 60 ksi yield grade billet steel deformed bars, uncoated finish.
B. Welded Wire Fabric: Plain type, ANSI/ASTM A185; in flat sheets; uncoated finish.
2.3 CONCRETE MATERIALS
A. Cement: ASTM C150, normal-Type 1 Portland, grey color.
B. Fine and Coarse Aggregates: ASTM C33.
C. Water: Clean and not detrimental to concrete.

2.6 CURING MATERIALS
A. Water: Clean and drinkable.
B. Membrane Curing Compound: ASTM C309.
C. Polyethylene Film: ASTM D2103, 4 mil thick, clear color.
2.7 CONCRETE MIX
A. Mix concrete in accordance with ASTM C94.
1. Compressive Strength-(7days): 1500 psi.

PART 3 EXECUTION
3.1 FORMWORK EXECUTION
A. Verify lines, levels, and measurement before proceeding with formwork.
B. Hand trim sides and bottom of earth forms; remove loose dirt.
C. Align form joints.
D. Do not apply form release agent where concrete surfaces receive special finishes or applied coatings which may be affected by agent.
E. Coordinate work of other Sections in forming and setting openings, slots, recesses, chases, sleeves, blots, anchors and other inserts.
3.2 REINFORCEMENT
A. Place, support, and secure reinforcement against displacement.
B. Locate reinforcing splices at points of minimum stress.
3.3 PLACING CONCRETE
A. Notify Owner a minimum of 24 hours prior to commencement of concreting operations.
B. Install vapor barrier under interior floor slabs on fill. Lap joints minimum of 6 inches and seal.
Do not disturb vapor barrier while placing reinforcement.
3.5 FINISHES
A. All exposed edges of concrete shall be chamfered ¾”, unless noted otherwise.
B. Vertical concrete surfaces exposed to view, both interior and exterior, shall receive a smooth form/smooth rubbed finish per ACI 301 5.3.3.3b & 5.3.3.4a, i.e., patch tie holes and defects, remove all fins, wet surface and rub with carborundum brick to achieve uniform color and texture. Use no cement or grout other than that generated by the rubbing process itself. This finishing shall take place no later than the day following form removal.
C. Vertical concrete surfaces not exposed to view, both interior and exterior, shall receive a smooth form finish, only, per ACI 301 5.3.3.3b, i.e., patch tie holes and defects, remove all fins. Provide any additional concrete finishing necessary to apply whatever finish material is called for to cover the concrete surface.
D. Trowel finish surfaces of all floor slabs unless indicated otherwise on the Foundation Plan or the Room Finish Schedule.
3.6 EXISTING WORK
CONCRETE 03001 - 3
A. Where new concrete is dowelled to existing work, drill holes in existing concrete insert steel dowels and pack with non-shrink grout.
B. Prepare previously placed concrete by cleaning with a steel brush and apply bonding agent in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.

1.3 QUALITY ASSURANCE
A. Lumber Grading Agency: Certified by ALSC.
B. All preservative pressure treated wood products shall be clean and free of all surface deposits.
C. Each piece shall be indelibly ink STAMPED with the QUALITY MARK of an approved independent third party inspection agency having a follow up testing and inspection service at the treating plant over the quality of the treated product, and whose service is certified by an approved overview agency such as AWPB (American Wood Preservers Bureau)
D. Quality Mark Stamp shall include the following in a legible format: Logo of the overview agency, logo of the inspection agency, the quality standard to which treated, the retention of the preservative, the purpose for which the product has been treated, the words "DRY" or
"KDAT" (when applicable), and the letters "TSO" (treating service only)-(if applicable).
E. All treated lumber products specified for structural uses shall bear an indelible ink stamp, signifying that the lumber has been marked by, or under the supervision of, an inspection agency certified by the ALSC and conforms to the requirements of the applicable grading rules.
1.4 REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS
A. Conform to applicable code for size and type of fasteners requirements.
B. Conform to UL requirements noted on Drawings to achieve rating indicated.

3.1 FRAMING, FURRING, AND STRIPPING
A. Erect wood framing, furring, stripping and nailing members true to lines and levels. Do not deviate from true alignment more than 1/4".
B. Construct members of continuous pieces of longest possible lengths.

1.3 REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS
A. All Millwork shall be provided by an AWI member.
1.4 SUBMITTALS.
A. Submit Shop Drawings indicating materials, component profiles, fastening methods, jointing details, finishes, and accessories to a minimum scale of 1-1/2 inch to one foot.
B. Submit Product Data of each product used.
C. Submit two samples 6 inches X 6 inches in size illustrating wood grain and specified finish D. Submit two samples 6 inches long of wood trim
E. Submit fabricator's installation instructions for each product.
F. Submit instructions for use of adhesives, attachment hardware, and finish hardware.
G. Submit color samples of simulate marble for selection of color.
1.5 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING
A. Store materials in ventilated, interior locations under constant minimum temperatures of 60 degrees F and maximum relative humidity of 55 percent.
PART 2 PRODUCTS
2.1 LUMBER MATERIALS
A. Softwood Lumber: PS 20; Custom grade in accordance with AWI; maximum moisture content of 6 percent; Pine species for interior species; with flat grain, of quality capable of painted finish.
B. White Birch Hardwood Lumber: FS MM-L-736; Premium grade in accordance with AWI;
maximum moisture content of 6 percent, of quality capable of transparent finish. Where wood receives a painted finish, use clear Pine with a flat grain.
FINISH CARPENTRY 06200 - 2 2.2 SHEET MATERIALS
A. Softwood Plywood: PS 1; Standard Sheathing Grade, Group 1, Appearance Quality;
Douglas Fir species, with face veneer of rotary cut, tight grain.
B. Hardwood Plywood: ANSI/HPHA HP; Premium Grade in accordance with AWI; veneer core material; Birch species, with face veneer of vertical grain, rift cut.
C. Wood Particleboard: Composed of wood chips made with waterproof resin binders of medium 45 pound density; sanded faces; below government standards for formaldehyde content.
2.3 PLASTIC LAMINATE/ HDPE MATERIALS
A. Plastic Laminate: 0.050 inch General Purpose and 0.028 inch Vertical Grade; color, pattern, and surface finish by Architect-Engineer.
B. Plastic Laminate Backing: High pressure paper base laminate without a decorative finish;
0.020 inch thick, smooth surface finish.
C. Material schedule for plastic laminates: See Finish Plan for a schedule of colors.
D. Provide HDPE high density polyethylene resin surface material for benches and surfaces as indicated on plans, color as selected.
2.4 ADHESIVE
A. Contact Adhesives: FS MMM-A-130; solvent release type.
B. Wall Adhesive: Solvent release, cartridge type, compatible with wall substrate, capable of achieving durable bond.
2.5 ACCESSORIES
A. Nails: Size and type to suit application, coated finish.
B. Bolts, Nuts, Washers, Blind Fasteners, Lags, and Screws: Size and type to suit application; galvanized finish.
C. Lumber for Shimming and Blocking: Softwood lumber D. Primer: primer sealer as specified in Section 09900.
E. Wood Filler: Solvent or Oil base, tinted to match surface finish color.
2.6 FABRICATION
A. Fabricate to AWI Premium standards using Grade A materials.
B. Shop prepare and identify components for book match grain matching during site erection.
2.7 SHOP FINISHING
A. Shop finish work in accordance with AWI 'Factory Finishing' Section 1500.
B. Transparent Finish: AWI System Number 5; Premium.
C. Opaque Finish: AWI System Number 400B, Premium.
PART 3 EXECUTION
3.1 EXAMINATION
A. Verify that surfaces are ready to receive work and field measurements are as shown on Shop Drawings.
B. Verify mechanical, electrical, and building items affecting work of this Section are placed and ready to receive this work.
C. Beginning of installation means acceptance of existing conditions.
FINISH CARPENTRY 06200 - 3 3.2 PREPARATION
A. Before installation, prime paints surfaces of items or assemblies to be in contact with cementitious materials.
3.3 INSTALLATION
A. Install work in accordance with AWI Premium quality standard.
B. Set and secure materials and components in place, plumb and level.
C. Install components and trim with coated nails at approximately 12 inches on center.
D. Cover exposed edges of plywood or particleboard shelving where indicated with 3/8-inch thick hardwood edging. Width of edging to match thickness of shelving.
E. Apply plastic laminate finishes where indicated. Adhere with adhesive over entire surface.
Make joints and corners hairline. Match patterns. Slightly bevel edges. Cap exposed edges with plastic laminate of same finish and pattern. Apply laminate backing sheet on reverse side of plastic laminate finished surfaces.
F. Install hardware in accordance with manufacturer's instructions and Section 08710.
3.4 TOLERANCES
A. Maximum Variation from True Position: 1/16 inch.
B. Maximum Offset from True Alignment with Abutting Materials: 1/32 inch.
3.5 PREPARATION FOR SITE FINISHING
A. Set exposed fasteners. Apply wood filler to match finish color in exposed fastener indentations. Sand work smooth.
B. Site Finishing: Refer to Section 09900.
3.6 PROTECTION
A. Protect finished installation under provisions of Division 0 and 1.
B. Correct all defects per Architect-Engineer approval.
