SIGNAGE PART 1 GENERAL

1.1 SUMMARY

A. Section includes interior room signs;

1.2 REFERENCES

A. Comply with current edition of Michigan Barrier Free Design.

1.3 SUBMITTALS

A. Division 1 - Submittals: Submittal procedures.

B. Shop Drawings: Indicate sign styles, lettering font, foreground and background colors, locations, overall dimensions of each sign. Provide schedule indicating each.

C. Samples: Submit one sample of each sign type.

D. Manufacturer's Installation Instructions: Submit installation template and attachment devices.

E. Color: Submit standard color palette to Architect for letter and background selection.

1.4 QUALIFICATIONS

A. Manufacturer: Company specializing in manufacturing Products specified in this section with minimum three years documented experience.

1.5 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING

A. Division 1 - Product Requirements: Product storage and handling requirements.

B. Package signs, labeled in name groups.

C. Store adhesive attachment tape at ambient room temperatures or as recommended by tape manufacturers.

1.6 ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS

A. Division 1 - Product Requirements: Environmental conditions affecting products on site.

B. Do not install signs when ambient temperature is lower than recommended by manufacturer.

C. Maintain this minimum temperature during and after installation of signs.

PART 2 PRODUCTS

A. Raised letter signs: Used for room identification.

1. Base material: 1/8” thick backplate, solid color, acrylic plastic.

2. Characters: Contrasting color of background, cut letters applied to top surface.

Unless noted otherwise on plan - 1” high numbers, ¾” high room names, ¾” high removable teacher name tag. Computer generated with precise edges and form.

3. Edges: Radiused.

4. Character Font: Helvetica complying with Michigan Barrier Free.

5. Braille: Grade II Braille applied by the Raster TM method or engraved into the sign.

B. Accessories:

1. Tape Adhesive: Double sided tape, permanent adhesive PART 3 EXECUTION

3.1 EXAMINATION

A. Division 1 - Project Management and Coordination: Verification of existing conditions before starting Work.

3.2 INSTALLATION

A. Install signs after surfaces are finished, in locations indicated on Drawings.

B. Position sign 60 inches from finished floor to center of sign.

C. Field verify active leaf of double doors and mount sign in compliance to Michigan Barrier Free.

3.3 SCHEDULES

A. Interior Signs: Refer to room finish schedule in drawing set for sign type and location.

Provide signs at all interior doors.

1,4 SUBMITTALS

I. Submit Shop Drawings indicating partition layout and dimensions, panel and door sizes, door swings, elevations, anchorage and mounting details, and finishes.

J. Submit Product Data for components, hardware, and accessories.

K. Submit three samples 6 x 6 inches in size illustrating panel colors and patterns.

L. Provide a sample of each type of hardware.

M. Submit manufacturer's installation instructions under provisions of Division 1.

1.5 REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS

A. Conform to ANSI A117.1 and applicable codes for provisions for the physically handicapped.

1.6 FIELD MEASUREMENTS

A. Verify field measurements are as shown on Drawings.

B. Verify in field before starting manufacturing.

PART 2 PRODUCTS

2.1 ACCEPTABLE MANUFACTURERS ARE:

B. Substitutions: Under provisions of Division 1.

2.2 MATERIALS

SOLID PLASTIC TOILET COMPARTMENTS 10155 - 2

A. Solid Plastic panels; one inch thick.

B. Headrail: 1 x 1-5/8 inch Stainless steel.

2.3 ACCESSORIES

A. Pilaster Shoe: ASTM A167, Type 304 stainless steel, 3 inch, high with adjustable screw jack; at ceiling and at floors.

B. Attachments, Screws, and Bolts: Stainless steel, theft proof type, heavy duty extruded aluminum brackets.

C. Through Bolts and Nuts: Stainless steel with tamperproof heads.

2.4 HARDWARE

A. Hinges: Non-ferrous continuous hinges by Roton or approved equivalent, adjustable for door close positioning, 1 1/2" long; coordinate proper length on Shop Drawings.

B. Latch and Keeper: Thumb turn door latch, door strike and keeper with rubber bumper.

C. Coat Hook: Cast alloy hook with rubber bumper tip.

2.5 FABRICATION

A. Fabricate partitions by forming solid plastic sheets with radiused edges. Finish edges convex.

B. Router cut openings and recesses as required to receive hardware and accessories.

C. Thickness of Partition Panels and Doors: 1 inch.

D. Thickness of Pilasters: 1 inch.

E. Thickness of Benches and counters, backsplashes and supports: 1 inch.

2.6 FINISHES

A. Color to be selected from available manufacturer’s colors PART 3 EXECUTION

3.1 EXAMINATION

A. Verify that openings are ready to receive work.

B. Verify field measurements are as shown on Drawings.

C. Verify correct location of built-in accessories.

D. Beginning of installation means installer accepts existing conditions.

3.2 ERECTION

A. Erect in accordance with manufacturer's instructions and per Detailed Contract Drawings.

B. Install partition components secure, plumb and level.

C. Attach panel brackets securely to walls, and floors, using appropriate anchor devices.

D. Attach panels and pilasters to brackets with through bolts and nuts. Locate headrail joints at pilaster center line.

E. Anchor urinal screen panels to walls with two panel brackets and to vertical pilaster anchored to floor and ceiling.

F. Provide 1/2 inch space between wall surface and panels or pilasters.

G. Provide for adjustment of floor variations with screw jack through steel saddles mounted to pilaster bottom edge. Conceal floor and fastenings with pilaster shoes.

H. Equip each toilet stall door with top and bottom hinges, and door latch.

I. Install door strike keeper on each pilaster in alignment with door latch.

J. Equip each toilet stall door with one coat hook and bumper.

K. Provide 2”x6” backing above drywall surfaces not more than 24 inch O.C. Apart.

3.3 ERECTION TOLERANCES

A. Maximum Variation from Plumb or Level: 1/8 inch.

B. Maximum Misplacement from Intended Position: 1/8 inch.

3.4 ADJUSTING

A. Adjust and align door hardware to uniform clearance at vertical edges of doors.

Clearance space not to exceed 3/16 inch.

B. Adjust door hinges so that free movement is attained and will locate in-swinging doors in partial open position when unlatched. Return out-swinging doors to closed position.

3.5 CLEANING

A. Clean work under provisions of Division 1.

B. Remove protective coverings.

C. Clean surfaces and hardware.

3.6 PROTECTION OF FINISHED WORK A. Protect finished installation.

B. Field touch-up of finished surfaces will not be permitted. Replace damaged components.

1. Manufacturer's printed installation instructions for each specified product.

2. Documentation of Manufacturer's Qualifications, specified in 1.5 of this Section.

F. Closeout Submittals: Warranty, issued and executed by manufacturer, and countersigned by Contractor.

1.5 QUALITY ASSURANCE

A. Manufacturer Qualifications: Minimum five years documented experience producing products specified.

B. Source Limitations: To the greatest extent possible products shall be provided by a single manufacturer.

A. Ship products in manufacturer's standard protective packaging with vinyl coating on exposed surfaces.

B. Storage and Protection: Store products in manufacturer's protective packaging until installation.

1.7 SEQUENCING

A. Supply locations, dimensions, and other pertinent details to installing Contractor for coordination of blocking, support and recess size and locations required for accessory installation.

1.8 WARRANTY

A. Manufacturer's standard warranty against defects in product workmanship and materials.

B. Manufacturer's 15-year warranty against silver spoilage of mirrors.
