1.5 QUALITY ASSURANCE

A. Applicator: Company specializing in gypsum board systems work with five years documented experience and approved by manufacturer.

B. Fire-Resistance-Rated Assemblies: For fire-resistance-rated assemblies, provide materials and construction identical to those tested in assembly indicated according to ASTM E 119 by an independent testing agency.

C. STC-Rated Assemblies: For STC-rated assemblies, provide materials and construction identical to those tested in assembly indicated according to ASTM E 90 and classified according to ASTM E 413 by an independent testing agency.

D. Lead Lined assemblies: Provide materials and construction identical to those tested in assembly indicated according to ASTM B749-03 by an independent testing agency.

1.6 REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS

A. Conform to applicable code for fire rated assemblies in conjunction with this Section.

B. Contractor shall follow applicable UL Designs for fire rated assemblies.

C. Contractor shall follow applicable code for lead lined assemblies.

1.7 SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

A. Acoustic Attenuation STC for Interior Partitions Between Units and Halls: S.T.C. rating (50-54).

B. Conform to applicable code for fire rated assemblies: as noted on plans PART 2 PRODUCTS

2.1 ACCEPTABLE MANUFACTURERS - (GYPSUM BOARD SYSTEM) A. U.S. Gypsum System.

B. Gold Bond Gypsum System ( C. Georgia Pacific.

D. National Gypsum.

E. Substitutions: Under provisions of Division I.

2.2 BOARD MATERIALS

A. Impact Resistant Gypsum Board: ANSI/ASTM C36; 5/8 inch thickness, maximum permissible length; ends square cut, tapered edges, tough rock or equal.

B. Moisture Resistant Gypsum Board: ANSI/ASTM C630; 5/8 inch thick, maximum permissible length; ends square cut, tapered edges.

C. Cement Board, reinforced, moisture resistant sheathing as indicated on plans.

D Lead Lined Gypsum Board, Fed. Spec. SSL 30D Refer to plan for location and thickness.

2.3 ACCESSORIES

A. Acoustical Insulation: See Section 07210 Insulation Materials.

B. Acoustical Sealant: Non-hardening, non-skinning, for use in conjunction with gypsum board;

manufactured by U.S.G.

C. Corner Beads: At external corners including window, and door openings provide metal corner bead with smooth rigid nose and perforated and knurled metal flanges.

D. Where drywall abuts or intersects dissimilar construction, provide square edge semi-finishing casing bead, ‘JAMB X’ or Equal.

E. Provide control joints #093 as called for on plans or at minimum 30’ intervals of straight wall runs.

F. Fasteners: Type “W” drywall screws except screws at ceilings to be Type “S” drywall screws.

G. Adhesive: ASTM C557 or GA 216 – Perf-A-Tape Compound.

H. Joint Reinforcement: Perf-A-Tape Compound.

I. Lead covers for all fasteners used with lead lined drywall.

PART 3 EXECUTION

3.1 INSPECTION

A. Verify that site conditions are ready to receive work and opening dimensions are as indicated on Shop Drawings.

B. Beginning of installation means acceptance of existing surfaces.

3.2 ACOUSTICAL ACCESSORIES INSTALLATION

A. Place acoustical insulation in partitions tight within spaces, around cut openings, behind and around electrical and mechanical items within or behind partitions, and tight to items passing through partitions. Place acoustical insulation where shown on plans.

B. Install acoustical sealant within partitions in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.

C. Install acoustical sealant at the perimeter of acoustical gypsum board walls.

3.3 GYPSUM BOARD INSTALLATION

A. Install gypsum board in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.

B. Fasten gypsum board to furring or framing with screws. Space screw fasteners 12 inches o.c. at each support in the field of the board and 8 inches o.c. at all butting edges (stagger adjacent 8-inch spacing.) Screws: Power-driven with an electric screwdriver to provide a slight depression below the surface of the board. Do not drive screws closer than 3/8 inches to edges and ends on wallboard.

C. Place control joints consistent with lines of building spaces as indicated.

D. Place corner beads at external corners, windowsills and kitchen pass through. Use longest practical length.

E. Treat cut edges and holes in moisture resistant gypsum board with sealant.

F. Fire rated walls – fasteners to be spaced and installed per assembly requirements.

G Install lead plug covers over all exposed screwheads prior to finishing lead lined drywall.

3. 4 JOINT TREATMENT

A. Tape, fill, and sand exposed joints, edges, and corners to produce smooth surface ready to receive finishes.

B. Feather coats onto adjoining surfaces so that camber is maximum 1/32 inch.

C. Erect in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.

3.5 TOLERANCES

A. Maximum Variation from True Flatness: 1/8 inch in 10 feet in any direction.
