GFI MailArchiver Archive Assistant cannot be installed on the Microsoft®Exchange Server.
NOTE
When using a web-filtering tool, this must be configured to allow all HTTP requests between GFI MailArchiver server and GFI MailArchiver Archive Assistant. Ensure that the GFI MailArchiver server’s IP address, NETBIOS name and DNS name are not blocked by the web filter. For more information, refer to:

To disable or enable GFI MailArchiver Archive Assistant:
1. Log on to GFI MailArchiver with a user that has administrative privileges. 2. From theConfigurationpage, selectArchiving Method.

8.2.4 Changing the GFI MailArchiver Archive Assistant tab availability
By default, the GFI MailArchiver Archive Assistant tab is visible and available to all users when they log in GFI MailArchiver. To disable users from seeing it:

8.2.5 Installing GFI MailArchiver Archive Assistant manually
1. Open GFI MailArchiver.
2. ClickEmail Client Accesstab.
3. FromArchive Assistantarea, clickDownload Archive Assistant. The following file is downloaded to your machine: gfimailarchiverarchiveassistant.exe.
4. The installation wizard should now start automatically. ClickRunand follow the wizard to install. 5. If the installation wizard does not start automatically, locate and double click the file downloaded in step 3 above.
NOTE
To verify successful installation, check that Archive buttons are now visible within Microsoft Outlook®.
8.2.6 Installing Manual Archiving Through GPO in Windows®Server 2008
1. On the GFI MailArchiver server, open the GFI MailArchiver installation folder. 2. Go toMailArchiver > Outlook.
3. Locategfimailarchiverarchiveassistant.msiand save the package into a shared folder on your network. Ensure that the shared folder has read properties. Take note of the folder path for later use.
4. ClickStart > Administrative Tools > Group Policy Management.
5. ExpandForest > Domains >domain name. Right-click the domain name and selectCreate a GPO in this domain, and Link it here...
6. Enter a name for the new Group Policy Object (GPO). For example: GFI MailArchiver Archive Assistant. ClickOK.
7. Right-click the newly created Linked GPO and clickEdit.
8. In theGroup Policy Management Editorwindow, expandUser Configuration > Policies > Software settings > Software Installation. Right clickSoftware Installation > New > Packageto configure the GPO to install on log in.
9. Enter the network path of the shared folder that contains the GFI MailArchiver Archive Assistant MSI package. ClickOK.

When selecting the location of the msi file ensure that this is done through ‘My network locations’ so that the share name in GFI MailArchiver includes the full network share location rather than the local path.
10. In theDeploy Softwarepop-up, selectAssignedand clickOK.
11. The new package is now added underSoftware Installation. Double click the package to load the properties.
12. In theDeploymenttab, selectInstall this application at logon. 13. ClickApplyandOKto close the window.
14. In theGroup Policy Managementwindow expand Forest > Domains >domain name> GFI MailArchiver Archive Assistant
15. In theSecurity Filtering Pane, clickAdd.
16. InSelect User, Computer or GroupaddDomain Usersand clickOK.
17. InGroup Policy Management, expand Forest > Domains > Group Policy Objects. Right click GFI MailArchiver Archive Assistant and clickEdit.
18. In theGroup Policy Management Editor, expandGFI MailArchiver Archive Assistant > User Configuration > Windows Settings > Scripts.
19. Double clickScripts. In the right window pane, double clickLogon.
20. Open the GFI MailArchiver installation folder (default path C:\Program Files (x86) \GFI\MailArchiver) and openOutlookfolder.
21. Locategfiapps.admand open the file in notepad.
22. Change theDefault URLto the GFI MailArchiver URL (for example: DEFAULT "https://192.168.7.125/MailArchiver". Save and close the file. 23. InGroup Policy Management EditorclickAdd.
24. In the pop-up window, selectbrowseunder Script Nameand locate the GFI MailArchiver installation path.
25. Select thegfiapps.admfile. Then clickOpen, clickOK, clickApplyandOKto close the window. 26. The set up should now be complete. GFI MailArchiver Archive Assistant will be installed theNext
time each client machine is started.
To check installation, verify that the GFI MailArchiver Archive Assistant toolbar is visible in Microsoft Outlook®.

8.2.7 Configuring GFI MailArchiver Archive Assistant
When GFI MailArchiver Archive Assistant is installed, default settings are sufficient for the add-in to operate. However, various settings can be customized according to the user’s preferences.
To change default settings: 1. Open Microsoft Outlook®.
2. In the Microsoft Outlook®ribbon, click Archive Assistant. 3. From the drop down menu, clickSettings.
