The URSN Screen

About This Screen

Use the Registration/Vehicle Identification Number Owner Scroll (URSN) screen to find a vehicle identification number (VIN) or registration information. This screen displays all VINs and registrations attached to that person.

The only required field on this screen is NAME L (last name). To display the customer record, enter all or part of an owner’s name. You can also enter any of the following fields to narrow your search and limit the number of records that display:

¤ NAME F (first name)

¤ NAME M (middle initial or initials for Sr., Jr., etc.)

¤ DOB (date of birth)

¤ REG STATUS (registration status)

Another field, VIN DISPLAY, allows you to determine what type of information you want to display on this screen. For example, you can elect to display the vehicle

identification number or registration information (plate type, color, registration number, and registration status).

The URSN Screen

Field Descriptions

Function Enter the function code URSN and press Enter to display the URSN screen.

MSG Displays system-generated messages.

PG Displays the page number of the current scroll screen.

Name L: Enter the registered owner’s last name to display the record. You can enter part or all of the name. If you enter just part of the name, all customers whose name begins with the letters you enter display.

F Enter the registered owner’s first name or initial. Use this field to narrow the search and limit the number of records that display.

M Enter the registered owner’s middle name or initial. Use this field to narrow the search and limit the number of records that display.

DOB Enter the registered owner’s date of birth (MM/DD/YYYY).

Use this field to narrow the search and limit the number of names that display.

Vin Display Enter Y (yes) to display the VIN associated with the owner's registration. Leave this field N (no) to display the plate type and color, registration number, and registration status, but no VIN.

Note: Except for Y, characters in this field do not display after you enter all selection information and press Enter.

Reg Status Enter the appropriate primary registration status to display owner information or VIN numbers only for registrations having that status. Use this field to narrow your search and limit the number of records that display. Leave this field blank to display owner information or VIN numbers for all registration statuses.

After you enter the information in the required fields and press Enter, the following fields display with data, if applicable.

Owner Name/DOB Displays the owner’s name and date of birth. The owner’s

name, address, and DOB are listed with each line of registration or VIN information.

Street/City Displays the street and city/town portions of the owner’s address.

ST Displays the state portion of the owner’s address. For a complete list of valid state, Canadian, and foreign codes, see Appendix B.

Vin/ Registration Depending on what you entered in the VIN DISPLAY field, Info displays the owner’s VIN or registration information. If VIN

DISPLAY is Y, the VIN displays. If VIN DISPLAY is N, the registration information (registration number, plate type, color, and registration status) displays.

Status Displays the primary registration status if registration information is entered.

Procedures

How to Inquire on Registered Owner Information

1. Type URSN in the FUNCTION field, and press Enter. The URSN screen displays with the following message:

2. Enter the person’s last name. To specify your search, you can also enter the first and middle name, date of birth, VIN display, or registration status. These fields are optional, however.

3. URSN displays all owners who match the information you entered.

If more than seven owner names are found, the following message appears:

F8 FOR MORE RECORDS

Note: To see more owner names, press F8 to display the next page of information. Press F7 to display the previous page of information.

4. To display a list of names that begins with a name already displayed on the scroll screen, move the cursor to the desired name and press F8. A new scroll page beginning with the selected name is displayed.

How to Transfer Information from URSN to URI

1. Type URSN in the FUNCTION field, and press Enter. The URSN screen displays with the following message:

2. Enter the person’s last name. To specify your search, you can also enter the first and middle name, date of birth, VIN display, or registration status; however, these fields are optional.

URSN displays all owners who match the information you entered.

3. Enter URI in the FUNCTION field, but do not press Enter.

4. Move the cursor to the owner you want to see on URI.

5. Press F4 to display the URI screen with detailed registration information. The URI screen displays registration and title information for the owner you selected.

When Wrong Person Information is Selected to Another Screen

If you carry over the wrong person to another screen, return to URSN and select the appropriate person. See "Return to URSN Screen."

How to Return to URSN Screen

To return to URSN, do one of the following:

¤ If you accessed URI by pressing F4, change the function code to URSN and press F11. (F11 returns you to the first page of the scroll.)

¤ If you accessed URI by pressing F16, press F11 or F16 again. (Both keys return you to the scroll page you selected from.)

Continue to select registrations on URSN to carry over and display in detail on URI, or go on to another function.
