Message from the Governor:

I want to thank everyone who helped out in 2015 and wish every member along with their families a safe and Happy New Year.

In the spirit of the New Year I ask you to give these questions serious thought.

Which of these are you?

Some members keep their lodge strong, while others just join and belong.

Some dig right in. Some serve with pride. Some go along just for the ride.

Some volunteer to do their share while some lay back and just don't care.

On meeting days some always show while there are those who seldom go.

Some always pay their dues ahead. Some get behind for months instead.

Some do their best. Some build, some make, some never give, but always take.

Some drag, some pull, some don't and some do.

Consider, which of these are you?

Moose Youth Awareness Program

I was invited to attend a Moose Youth Awareness Program meeting a few weeks ago, by a couple of amazing indi- viduals, and was very happy I attended. My first introduction was during the State Conference I recently attended this year. As soon as I became informed of this program and its purposes, I was hooked. So, I want to pay it for- ward and introduce it to those of you who haven’t yet heard, and for those of you who have, re-introduce you.

For more than 25 years, Moose International has organized high school students into a highly effective speakers bureau with the goal of educating preschool and elementary school-aged children on a variety of topics, including drug and alcohol abuse, child abuse, stranger danger, bullying and peer pressure and healthy habits and nutrition. This opportunity can also help a teen earn their community service hours for graduation, a merit badge for scouts and the possibility of winning a College Scholarship.

Participating Teens focus on creating Moose KidsTalks that give presentations to 4 to 9-year-old children in their communities. These Teens develop ways to empower children to make healthy choices, safe surfing, along with many others.

If you would you like any further information or like to join me in getting the word out about this wonderful program there is a great informational brochure that is located to the right of the front doors into our Social Quarters. Please come and see me for any questions or ideas you might have! I am extremely excited and thrilled to be part of this amazing program.

“The future rests in the hands, hearts, and minds of our children. Without a doubt, members of the Loyal Or- der of Moose and the Women of the Moose will continue to provide assistance to make our com- munities a better place for families to live and for children to grow.”

Wishing you all a Blessed Day.

ADMINISTRATOR’S CORNER

We will be leaving for the Newport News Moose State Convention on January 22nd and return back home January 23, 2016. We are looking forward to hearing new information for the 2016 Moose year, and of course, seeing all the Moose members from Virginia. I wish you all could go to the Convention. They are always a lot of fun.

You are still doing a good job getting new people to sign up as Moose members. And, thanks again for all your vol- unteer service for the Lodge. It really makes Dale City Moose a great place to visit.

Some important dates in January 2016 to remember:

Saturday, January 9th at 11am is the District 4 Meeting held at the Centreville Moose Lodge. Plan on attending and help Dale City Moose Lodge win the Attendance trophy!

Saturday, January 16th, 8am-2pm, is the TIPS training class, held at the Centreville Moose Lodge. Price to be de- termined. If you plan on attending, contact the Centreville Moose Lodge in advance. (All alcohol servers need to take this class.)

Saturday, January 30th, at 11am, is the Dale City Moose Legion Meeting, to be held at the Dale City Moose Lodge.

Come out and help build up the Dale City Moose Legion again. These meetings can be loads of fun.

May you all have a Happy and Healthy New Year! Be SAFE. I look forward to seeing you in the Lodge.

Bob Agnew, Administrator
