Connecting the speakers and antennas of the

“GIGA JUKE” Music Server

This operation is performed on the “GIGA JUKE” Music Server.

Note

DO NOT plug the power cord into a wall outlet until instructed to do so.

Follow the steps below to connect the supplied speakers and antennas to the “GIGA JUKE” Music Server.

Connect the speaker cords to the speakers.

Make sure the metal leads (not the part covered with vinyl insulation) are securely inserted into the speaker terminals.

Connect the speakers to the unit.

Make sure the speaker cords are correctly matched with the projections on the SPEAKER terminals, and then insert the cords firmly into the SPEAKER terminals.

Make sure to keep the speaker away from the antennas as they may produce noise in the radio reception.

Connect the AM loop antenna.

Make sure to keep the AM loop antenna away from the unit or other AV equipment as this may produce noise in the radio reception.

Connect the FM wire antenna.

Use a commercially available 75  coaxial cable to connect the unit to an external antenna.

Connect the DAB wire antenna (UK model only).

With a DAB external antenna, you can enjoy a more robust DAB reception (optional). It is recommended that you use the supplied DAB wire antenna for strong reception areas only. 75  coaxial cable with F male type connector will be needed to install the DAB external antenna (optional).

GB To listen to audio data on your “GIGA JUKE”

Music Server with the “GIGA JUKE” Wireless Player, you need to connect these devices through a wireless station.

With the NAS-SC55PKE, you can connect the devices over a wireless network through Instant (S-IWS*) connection, allowing you to play audio data stored on the “GIGA JUKE” Music Server through the speakers of the “GIGA JUKE” Wireless Player placed in a different room. * S-IWS (Sony Instant Wireless Audio Setup) is a

function that can connect and set up a wireless network automatically by turning on the power of the devices.

This operation is performed on the “GIGA JUKE” Music Server, the “GIGA JUKE” Wireless Player and the wireless station.

Note

You may encounter setup difficulties if the “GIGA JUKE” Music Server, the “GIGA JUKE” Wireless Player and the wireless station are located too far from each other. If you do, place the devices closer to each other.

Turn on the wireless station.

 Attach the supplied stand to the wireless station.

 Confirm that the operation mode switch (located at the rear of the wireless station) is set to “AUTO”.  Use the 5V AC power adaptor (supplied

with the wireless station) to connect the wireless station to a wall outlet.  Confirm that the POWER indicator is lit.

Wait until the INSTANT indicator lights up and the AOSS indicator turns off. (This may take several minutes.) If this does not occur on the wireless station, press the RESET button. Use something with a pointed tip, such as a small pin, to press the RESET button.

Connect the “GIGA JUKE” Music

Server and the wireless station.

 Connect the supplied wireless adaptor to the USB port on the “GIGA JUKE” Music Server using the supplied USB extension cable.

 Connect the power cord of the “GIGA JUKE” Music Server to a wall outlet. The “GIGA JUKE” Music Server automatically turns on, makes the initial settings (the display shows “Checking System Please Wait”), and then turns off. The initial settings may take a few minutes depending on the condition of the “GIGA JUKE” Music Server. Do not disconnect the power cord while the initial setup is in progress. Doing so may cause the “GIGA JUKE” Music Server to malfunction.

 Press  (power) to turn on the “GIGA JUKE” Music Server.

The “GIGA JUKE” Music Server starts connecting to the wireless station. When the connection has completed, this is indicated by a pop-up window.

Language displayed on the screen depends on the language that is set on the “GIGA JUKE” Music Server. For details on the display language setting, see page 11.

Connect the “GIGA JUKE” Wireless

Player and the wireless station.

 Use the 12V AC power adaptor

(supplied with the “GIGA JUKE” Wireless Player) to connect the “GIGA JUKE” Wireless Player to a wall outlet.

 Press  (power) to turn on the “GIGA JUKE” Wireless Player.

The “GIGA JUKE” Wireless Player starts connecting to the wireless station.

Language displayed on the screen depends on the language that is set on the “GIGA JUKE” Wireless Player. For details on the display language setting, see page 11.

When “Instant (S-IWS) setting with wireless station is completed.” appears, press / to select [OK] and press ENTER. The name of the “GIGA JUKE” Music Server (e.g., “NAS-S55HDE”) appears in the server selection display.

If the name of the “GIGA JUKE” Music Server does not appear, press  to select [Update info] and press ENTER.

Connection between the “GIGA JUKE” Music Server and the “GIGA JUKE” Wireless Player is completed.

GB Choose either the Instant (S-IWS) connection or AOSS connection to connect the devices to the

Internet, though the AOSS connection is recommended when connecting the devices to the Internet together with a computer. Connecting the devices to the Internet enables the “GIGA JUKE” Wireless Player to receive Internet radio (web radio). For details on how to use this feature, see “Listening to the Internet radio on the “GIGA JUKE” Wireless Player” (page 16). For other features of each devices while connected to the Internet, refer to “Features on this unit” in the operating instructions for the “GIGA JUKE” Music Server or “Features of this unit” in the operating instructions for the “GIGA JUKE” Wireless Player.

Note

Using the Instant (S-IWS) wireless connection may lower the security level of your home network. To obtain a security level higher than that of the Instant (S-IWS) connection, the AOSS connection is recommended.

Use the network (LAN) cable (supplied with the wireless station) to connect the wireless station with the device (such as a broadband router or a hub) that is connected to the Internet. For details on how to set up the broadband router, refer to the operating manual for the broadband router.

Set the operation mode switch on the wireless station to “MODE 2”, and then connect the wireless station to a broadband router.

On the “GIGA JUKE” Music Server, perform the AOSS connection by pressing SETTINGS and selecting [Network setting] – [Manual setting] – [Wireless LAN setting] – [Access point setting] – [Automatic setting : AOSS] using / and ENTER.

Follow the instructions that appear in the display.

On the “GIGA JUKE” Wireless Player, perform the AOSS connection by pressing SETTINGS and selecting [Network setting] – [Manual setting] – [Connection setting] – [AOSS] using / and ENTER.

Recording a CD to the HDD Jukebox of the

“GIGA JUKE” Music Server

You can record audio data from a CD to the “GIGA JUKE” Music Server.

This operation is performed on the “GIGA JUKE” Music Server.

Press CD on the “GIGA JUKE”

Music Server and place a disc into

the disc tray.

The disc tray slides out.

Load a disc with the label side up.

The disc tray closes when you press CD again.

The unit automatically starts searching for the latest title information for the disc from its database and over the Internet if connected to the Internet. If title information cannot be found, it will not be displayed.

Press HDD REC.

Tracks are recorded in MP3 audio format and a bit rate of 128 kbps. To change the recording settings, refer to “Setting up the unit for recording or importing” in the operating instructions for the “GIGA JUKE” Music Server.

automatically changes to the main display of the CD function.

Playing the HDD Jukebox of the

“GIGA JUKE” Music Server

This operation is performed on the “GIGA JUKE” Music Server.

Press HDD on the “GIGA JUKE” Music

Server.

Playback starts from the track you last played or recorded. Track name Playback indication Time information (elapsed time) Artist name Album name, etc.

To play tracks in different listing

Press  repeatedly to select “Mode” directory, press / to select the desired listing mode, and then press ENTER.

You can select from [Album], [Artist], [Genre], [Recording source], [Folder], or [Playlist].

You can use the “GIGA JUKE” Wireless Player to play audio data stored on your “GIGA JUKE” Music Server.

Before you can do this, you must first connect the “GIGA JUKE” Wireless Player to the “GIGA JUKE” Music Server.

This operation is performed on the “GIGA JUKE” Wireless Player.

Note

If standby mode on the “GIGA JUKE” Music Server is set to “Standard (power save)”, the “GIGA JUKE” Wireless Player will not be able to connect to the “GIGA JUKE” Music Server.

Confirm that the name of the “GIGA

 Press  to go to the next directory up. If you press  after reaching the highest directory, the display returns to the playback window.

 Press  to go to the next directory down. * Items are displayed in the language that is set on the

“GIGA JUKE” Music Server.

Note

If the connected “GIGA JUKE” Music Server contains a large amount of audio data, it may take a while for the display to change while the unit is searching for a track.

display, and then press / to

select the track you want to play.

The unit starts playing the selected track and the playback display appears.

You can listen to Internet radio broadcasts offered on the Web by Live365 and SHOUTcast on the “GIGA JUKE” Wireless Player. To listen to the Internet radio, the wireless station or the wireless LAN access point has to be connected to the Internet. For details on connecting to the Internet, refer to “Connecting to the Internet” on page 9. For details on Internet radio services, refer to the supplied “Internet Radio service on “GIGA JUKE” Wireless Player”.

This operation is performed on the “GIGA JUKE” Wireless Player.

Note

If the clock is not correctly set, you will not be able to obtain the list of radio stations compiled by the Live365 website. See the Operating Instructions of the “GIGA JUKE” Wireless Player on how to set the clock.

The unit changes to the Internet Radio function.

If you select [SHOUTcast] in step

2, press / to select the desired

genre, sub genre, station, and then

The unit starts receiving the selected radio station.

Notes

 The service contents mentioned in this manual are current as of July, 2008. These contents are subject to change or cancellation without notice.

 If after selecting a radio station the unit does not connect within one minute, “Cannot connect to the radio station.” appears in the display. If you select [OK], the playback display appears with no sound.

Other operations

This operation is performed on the “GIGA JUKE” Music Server.

Notes

 If the AC power adaptor is supplied with the “WALKMAN” it is recommended that you operate it on house current. When operating the “WALKMAN” on batteries, make sure the remaining battery power is sufficient. We do not guarantee against malfunctions, transfer failures, or destruction of audio data caused by shortages in battery power.  Make sure that you do not disconnect the USB cable

during the transfer of tracks to a “WALKMAN”. If you do, the unit or “WALKMAN” may malfunction.

Transferring audio data from the HDD Jukebox of the

“GIGA JUKE” Music Server to a “WALKMAN”

Connect a compatible “WALKMAN”

to the USB port on the top of the

“GIGA JUKE” Music Server.

Refer to the operating manual of the “WALKMAN” as well.

1GB If a problem occurs when connecting, follow the

below procedures. For other problems see the operating instructions of each devices.

The Instant (S-IWS) connection is not possible (“Wireless LAN Instant (S-IWS) Connected.” does not appear in the network setting display of the “GIGA JUKE” Music Server).

The “GIGA JUKE” Wireless Player cannot connect with the “GIGA JUKE” Music Server (the name of your “GIGA JUKE” Music Server does not appear in the server selection display of the “GIGA JUKE” Wireless Player).

 Do the following procedure.

1 Disconnect the 5V AC power adaptor from the wireless station, and then check the operation mode switch on the wireless station is set to “AUTO”. If the supplied network (LAN) cable is connected to the wireless station, disconnect it.

 Reconnect the 5V AC power adaptor, wait for a while, and then press the RESET button.

Use something with a pointed tip, such as a small pin, to press the RESET button. Wait until the INSTANT indicator lights up and the AOSS indicator turns off (this may take several minutes). If this does not occur on the wireless station, press the RESET button again.

3 If a network cable is connected to the “GIGA JUKE” Music Server, disconnect it.

 Connect the wireless adaptor to the USB port of the “GIGA JUKE” Music Server.

 On the “GIGA JUKE” Music Server, perform the Instant (S-IWS) connection by pressing SETTINGS and selecting [Network setting] – [Auto setting] using / and ENTER. Or, press SETTINGS, and then select [Network setting] – [Manual setting] – [Wireless LAN setting] – [Access point setting] –

[Automatic setting: Instant (S-IWS)] using / and ENTER.

Troubleshooting

 On the “GIGA JUKE” Wireless Player, perform the Instant (S-IWS) connection by pressing SETTINGS and selecting [Network setting] – [Auto setting] using / and ENTER. Or, press SETTINGS, and then select [Network setting] – [Manual setting] – [Connection setting] – [Instant (S-IWS)] using / and ENTER.

The “GIGA JUKE” Music Server or the “GIGA JUKE” Wireless Player cannot connect to the Internet.

 Do the following procedure.

1 Disconnect the 5V AC power adaptor from the wireless station, and then set the operation mode switch on the wireless station to “MODE 2”. If the supplied network (LAN) cable is connected to the wireless station, disconnect it.

 Connect the wireless station to the

broadband router with the supplied network (LAN) cable.

When connecting the wireless station and a broadband router, connect the supplied network (LAN) cable to the INTERNET port on the wireless station (see the figures on pages 9 and 10).

3 Reconnect the 5V AC power adaptor, wait for a while, and then press the RESET button.

 If a network cable is connected to the “GIGA JUKE” Music Server, disconnect it.

 Connect the wireless adaptor to the USB port of the “GIGA JUKE” Music Server.

 When performing the Instant (S-IWS)

connection:

On the “GIGA JUKE” Music Server, press SETTINGS, and then select [Network setting] – [Auto setting] using / and ENTER. Or, press SETTINGS, and then select [Network setting] – [Manual setting] – [Wireless LAN setting] – [Access point setting] – [Automatic setting: Instant (S-IWS)] using / and ENTER.

When performing the AOSS connection:

Do step 2 of the “AOSS connection” procedure in “Connecting to the Internet” on page 10.

 When performing the Instant (S-IWS)

connection:

On the “GIGA JUKE” Wireless Player, press SETTINGS, and then select [Network setting] – [Auto setting] using / and ENTER. Or, press SETTINGS, and then select [Network setting] – [Manual setting] – [Connection setting] – [Instant (S-IWS)] using / and ENTER.

When performing an AOSS connection:
