JOB SUMMARY: Teach approved preschool curriculum and insure that students

JOB SUMMARY: A professional school counselor develops, delivers, and maintains a data driven, comprehensive developmental counseling program addressing the academic, career, and personal/ social development of all students.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Deliver guidance curriculum in collaboration with classroom teachers and other appropriate professionals;
Provide direct and indirect services to students, at least 75% of time spent providing direct services;
Provides counseling for students on an individual and group basis in the effort to solve personal problems, and provide developmental, preventive and remedial guidance and counseling programs to meet academic, social, emotional and physical needs;
Obtains and disseminates occupational information to students; Organizes orientation program for new students entering school;

EVALUATION: Performance in this position will be evaluated by the assigned administrators and in accordance with WV State Code §18A-2-12, WV State Board Policy 5310, and MCBOE Policy C.2.3, Performance Evaluation of School Personnel – Administrative Procedures JOB SUMMARY: The Social Worker will serve as a home/school liaison for students and families. This individual will work in tandem with the school counselors and administration to create plans to support students on an individual basis who are in crisis or having academic, attendance, social, emotional or behavior issues in the classroom. The Social Worker will also assist with increasing family engagement through workshops, home visits, mentoring and working with outside agencies to improve the student/family environment. The Social Worker may not be used in any capacity which is not approved, in advance, by the Director of Federal Programs. Evaluation of the Social Worker will be conducted by the Director of Federal
Programs with input from the schools’ principals. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work in collaboration with school administration, counseling staff, nurse, psychologist, Attendance Director and instructional staff to identify at-risk students.
Work with the school counselor and administration to create individualized plans that support students who are in crisis and/or have academic, attendance, social, emotional or behavior issues in the classroom.
Provide professional counseling support to identified families/students in crisis. Work with Attendance Director, teachers, counselors and administration to improve
student attendance and decrease tardiness by assisting with home visits, regular, documented contacts with student and families, and acting as a broker to obtain the services needed by these families to improve student attendance.
Work with school-based personnel and outside agencies to decrease discipline referrals and infractions; increase family engagement activities; and increase involvement with community members.
Work with teachers to establish relationships with community and business leaders to become mentors and tutors to students.
Assist staff in the development and implementation of appropriate discipline procedures. Incorporate a variety of strategies to insure on-going family and community engagement
that insures sustainability.
Maintain documentation and evidence of these activities through logs, sign-in sheets, etc. and be able to compare program success to beginning and end data points. Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, county policy and
administrative regulations.
Maintain professional work habits.
Maintain professional competence through continuing education activities provided by Mason County Schools and/or self-selected professional growth activities.
