2021 BOWIE BAYSOX GAME NOTES

About the Last One: Playing a mid-week afternoon game, Bowie fell 5-2 to Richmond on Wednesday. Bowie's two runs came courtesy of an Adley Rutschman home run, his 16th of the season. Kyle Stowers went 3-3 with a walk, but the rest of Bowie's lineup was held fairly quiet. All four of Bowie's pitchers allowed at least one earned run in the contest.

Stowers Power: In 24 games in July, Kyle Stowers is hitting .364 with six home runs, nine doubles, 12 RBI, 16 runs scored, and 32 total hits. He is the only Bowie batter who has played more than two games in July who has a batting average above .300 for the month, and his OPS is 1.127.

Brnovich on the Bump: Right-hander Kyle Brnovich has been one of Bowie's best starting pitchers lately, as he has not allowed an earned run in his last two starts and gone 5.0 innings in each. His last start was his best with the Baysox. He threw five scoreless innings against Hartford and allowed just three hits while not walking a batter and striking out 10. In the Other Corner: Starting for Richmond on Thursday night, in his first season at Double-A, will be right-hander Trenton Toplikar. It will be his 11th start and 15th appearance of the season, and he holds a .295 batting average against with a 1.66 WHIP.

It will also be his third start against Bowie this season. In his first two, he combined for 6.0 innings and five earned runs, with four of the five coming in his second and most recent outing against the Baysox on July 6th.

This Day in Baysox History: Current Baysox manager Buck Britton went 2-3 with an RBI on July 29, 2014 as Bowie beat Akron 5-1.
