What is a state?

State- an area organized into a political unit,

ruled by an established government that controls its internal (domestic) and foreign affairs.

A defined territory.

Has a permanent population.

Sovereignty- a state has this when no other

state controls its internal affairs.

In the last 50 years (post WWII), the number of
