Jorge leaves his moto-taxi business in the suburbs of Lima and his family to seek fortune as a miner, reaching the highest and most dangerous Andean gold- mine in Peru.
Lost under a glacier in the mountains, La Rinconada is “the closest city to the sky”. It attracts thousands of seasonal workers like Jorge, seeking a lucky strike and a better life.
Here starts a journey full of presages, where reality and magic blends together, where the myth of richness is built over a sacrifice: every now and then, miners mysteriously disappear, since gold belongs to the Devil, El Tio de la Mina requires sacrifices.
The gold rush at the times of neoliberalism, a descent to hell, mirroring a relent- less world where everything and everyone is expendable in the name of profit.

Yusuf and his best friend Memo are Kurdish pupils at a boarding school se- cluded in the Anatolian mountains. When Memo falls mysteriously ill, Yusuf is forced to struggle through the bureaucratic obstacles put up by the school’s repressive authorities to try to help him. When the adults finally understand the seriousness of Memo’s condition and try to get him to the hospital, the school is cut off from the world by a heavy snowfall. With no way out and now desperate to find help, teachers and pupils engage in a blame game where grudges, feelings of guilt and hidden secrets emerge, as time ticks merci- lessly on.

Together with cellist and composer Giovanni Sollima they start a journey through Italy performing in the main cities to end up in Sicily, 1.500Km southern, for the last show in the magnificent Palermo theater.

A painter living with her parents: Gulbîn is trying to make her own way in life, while obsessively painting a portrait of her mum with inspiration from Whistler’s Mother. The mother models for her daughter while trying to insulate her house from the noise of the bombs to no avail. The father, whose health is deteriorating, tries to reimagine his war-stricken city with old photos.
