The Collaborative on Academic Careers in Higher Education (COACHE) is a consortium of over 150 colleges and universities committed to making the academic workplace more attractive and equitable for faculty. Founded in 2002 with support from the Ford Foundation and Atlantic Philanthropies, COACHE is based at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Membership in COACHE begins with surveys of tenure-‐track and tenured faculty job satisfaction. The report that follows provides senior administrators with a diagnostic tool for identifying areas of strength and concern, among demographic subgroups, and compared to peer institutions.
