Safe Haven Sunday Prayer

Loving Father,

Thank you for the gift of marriage and family life. We entrust to you our home, where our marriage and family lives and grows. We ask you to make it a safe haven for all who live and enter these walls. May our home truly be a holy place for both young

and old to be formed in the truth regarding life, love, sex, and marriage. May each of our members be protected from and guided in seeking to avoid pornography, while embracing the freedom and purity of life in Christ. If there are past wounds that have occurred due to the availability of pornography on our family’s devices, lack of awareness of parents, or

because of indifference, we ask you to send forth your Spirit to heal, bless, renew, and consecrate this home as a safe haven with your son Jesus Christ at the center of our lives, today, tomorrow, and always. We

ask this through the intercession of the Holy Family of Nazareth, Saints Joachim and Anne, the Sacred Heart of

Jesus, and the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Amen.

The icon depicting Saints Joachim and Anne (Parents of Mary, the Mother of God) embracing inside the Holy House was written by iconographer Reverend Father Thomas J.

Loya, Tabor Life Institute. Printed with Permission .

Endurance in Hope

Despite the negative messaging in the news media, the Church continues to work to fulfill its mission. The Diocesan Annual Appeal is how we as a diocesan community fund our commitment to do our part of fulfilling the mission. The good works continue as our story is told through the appeal, connecting with those who want to invest in the many good works. Thank you to all who continue to support this vital ministry.

Please consider a gift to the Diocesan Annual Appeal. What is not gifted through the Appeal, is charged directly to the Parish Operating Expense. Anything that is over the target, is given back to the Parish.

ROSARY

Please join us each Friday during the year at 11:00am in Church to pray for all the turmoil in

our world and also to thank God for all our blessings.

Pray and Eat!

In 2017 Immaculate Conception hosted a wonderful celebration with our Lutheran brethren called the "Commemoration" --we filled

our church beyond capacity with singing Catholics and Lutherans, a community of prayer

and song. You are invited to a small version of that ecumenical celebration on Sunday, March 24th at 3:00pm when St. John's Lutheran and Immaculate Conception again jointly host a Taizé Prayer Service, featuring Scripture, Songs, and Silence. This year's service is at St. John's, and it

will conclude with fellowship, bars and coffee. The entire service plus fellowship usually lasts about an hour. Enhance your prayer life in Lent and meet your neighbors! If you would like to participate more actively, there will be a joint choir and group of instrumentalists representing

musicians from both parishes, or you could make some bars! Otherwise, just come! For more information, see the flyers at the

entrances of church or contact Colleen at 715-672-5833.

In Search of Young Adults!

SPIRITUS is seeking Catholic young adults, 21-29 years of age, to join the SPIRITUS missionary team this August.

SPIRITUS ignites the faith in thousands of young Catholics through retreats and parish youth ministry each year! Missionaries live in community and travel to parishes and schools throughout Wisconsin; they receive training, formation, spiritual direction, lodging, food, a monthly allowance, health insurance and a $2,000 stipend upon completion of the 9-month program. It is a unique opportunity to serve our Lord and help young Catholics grow in faith. For more info, visit www.spiritusministries.org, or contact Rachel at recruiter@spiritusministries.org, or call 920-722-8918 x113.

A Note from the Parish Nurse:

them out! If you have any questions or

would like more information, please let

~ Gifts of Love ~

If you like to sew or create woodworking projects we need

volunteers. We have started a

special ministry making custom

caskets, small quilts and burial garments for infants and for

babies who die in utero or shortly after birth. We have contacts

with area hospitals who have a need for these items. This helps

bring closure for parents for babies to be buried with love and

dignity. Please contact Louise Rogers at 715-797-3428 or email

at loukenr@live.com, if you would like to help with this ministry.

GIFTS RETURNED TO GOD

Thank You!

What shall I say? I missed most of you. Snowed out again last weekend! Glad that none ventured out recklessly. No worry, the last of the snow for the Year! The order for Sunshine is given already, and it will arrive soon! Then, all can come to Church on weekends. I love to see you all; yes, every weekend! Don’t miss it!

The Rectory is going to be a busy place again. The diocese requests that Fr Thomas remains here till Easter for his initial training and preparation to undertake ministry in the diocese. Fr John Schultz who has undergone surgery will be also coming in soon. The Rectory will be another Rehab home for him. We shall provide him with tender loving care. Having these two holy men here around would be a blessing! Let us welcome them.

We continue to get a good taste of American cuisine through the delicious meals served to us. Thanks to the families! I truly appreciate the service of numerous volunteers- young and old, who make our community alive and active. Some elderly people continue to tell me how appreciative they are of the altar servers. Thanks to all the altar servers! I appreciate the parents who play a big role in all of this, as well. The involvement of the young under the tutelage of the elderly is a delightful sight! Oh, the Fish boil! Thanks again to the Fish boil volunteers on the past Friday!

Lent comes to tell us that holiness is possible for everyone. Are you growing in holiness? A life of devotion makes the care of the family peaceful, the love of husband and wife more sincere, the service of the public servants more loyal, and every sort of occupation by anyone more pleasant and more lovable. All of these stem from the recognition that God has loved us first and so dearly. It is this love that gives growth within us. No wonder, Lent is said to be the “Springtime” in the Church! Here in the Parish, we keep Safe Haven Sunday this weekend. Together, we shall make our homes safe for children and for all of us by creating awareness of the harms of Pornography. The booklet, EQUIPPED is being made available to parents with children. It provides great parenting skills to address the issue of Pornography, in a very caring way. Moreover, I encourage everyone in the Parish to participate in a 7-day text challenge to make their home a safe haven. Please take a bulletin for the details.

The readings on the second Sunday of Lent invite us to look at the amazing things God does for us .The story of Abraham, described in the first reading, highlights God’s work in his life. Do we see what God does in our lives? Often we look for the dazzling moments and signs, but sometimes, the recognition of God’s amazing work in us comes through tears, pain and failure we experience. Our prayer could be: Lord, wake us from the spiritual slumber that keeps us hidden from you! Our journey through Lent continues on…!
