Children’s Services Central is the Professional Support Coordinator in NSW and is funded by the Australian Government Department of Social Services, under the Inclusion and Professional Support Program.

Long day care services receive LDCPDP funding. This means the fee for professional development for long day care services provided by Children’s Services Central is not subsidised and is higher. (Funding rules but still great value!)

You can use LDCPDP funds to pay for all Children’s Services Central courses – anything in this handbook in fact!

Children’s Services Central does much more than delivering professional development courses. Go to the back page to find out out more!

Evaluations and certificates? These are all linked. After your course, we will send you a survey. After you complete the survey, you can download and print your certificate.

If you like the sound of a course and it isn’t in your area, let us know. We will try and provide the course near to you.

The courses with the codes? These courses link to competencies that contribute to accredited training such as a Diploma or Certificate.

Aboriginal Cultural Perspectives in

Education and Care: A Starting Point

151042

LEVEL: ALL

FEE: $33

Would you like to know more about introducing Aboriginal cultural perspectives into early childhood education and care? The Early Years Learning Framework and My Time, Our Place talk about children being connected with their world, respecting diversity and having secure, respectful and reciprocal relationships. Education and care services must understand and value of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and ensure that children have the opportunity to learn about the culture of Australia’s first people. In this course, we’ll be helping educators and directors incorporate this teaching into all practice and provide a starting point for your conversations and your work on culture and reconciliation.

Guiding Children’s Behaviour in FDC

151023

LEVEL: ALL

FEE: $33

This course for family day care educators will focus on positive guidance of children’s behaviour within the domain of social development. It is important that we acknowledge that children are learning a complex range of skills that continue to develop through to adulthood. This course explores the rights of the child, how educators can build positive relationships with children and family members, set and apply appropriate expectations and support children in attaining the skills required to self regulate. The course also links to the outcomes of the Early Years Learning Framework and provides opportunities for participants to learn: what influences behaviour, techniques for promoting positive behaviour, applying appropriate limits and guidelines, as well as identifying and reviewing behaviour that is challenging.
