Nonprofit  Publications,  from  About.com

                                    http://www.about.com

About.com,  which  is  part  of  the  New  York  Times  Company,  is  a   resource  for  a  wide  variety  of  content.    It  offers  a  list  and  description   of  the  “Top  7  Must-‐Have  Publications  for  Nonprofits.”

http://nonprofit.about.com/od/resources/tp/toppubs.htm     List  of  organizations  on  list  (with  descriptions  and  urls)

1.  The  Chronicle  of  Philanthropy

http://philanthropy.com/section/Home/172

This  bi-‐weekly  newspaper  is  packed  with  useful  information,  from  the  latest  news  about   philanthropy  to  management  to  fundraising  and  more.  It  is  a  prime  source  of  job  listings  as   well.

2.  The  Chronicle  of  Higher  Education   http://chronicle.com

If  you  are  in  higher  education,  you  may  prefer  the  Chronicle  of  Philanthropy's  sister   publication.  The  Chronicle  of  Higher  Education  is  a  lively,  weekly  collection  of  timely   information  for  those  in  colleges  and  universities.  It  is  also  the  premier  source  for  job   listings  in  the  industry.

The  only  problem  with  either  of  the  Chronicles  is  that  they  are  so  fat  and  full  of  relevant   information,  it  is  hard  to  get  through  one  of  them  before  the  next  shows  up.

3.  Stanford  Social  Innovation  Review   http://www.ssireview.org/

Strategies,  tools,  and  ideas  for  nonprofits,  foundations,  and  socially  responsible  businesses.   One  of  my  favorite  publications  and  one  I  read  immediately  upon  receiving.  Published   quarterly  by  the  Graduate  School  of  Business  at  Stanford  University.

4.  The  Nonprofit  Quarterly

http://www.nonprofitquarterly.org/

This  quarterly  magazine  is  a  good  place  to  turn  for  in-‐depth  discussion  of  key  issues  facing   the  nonprofit  community.  Very  research  based,  the  longer  publication  cycle  allows  for   editorial  review  and  more  detail  about  any  given  issue.

Calling  itself  a  "cross  between  a  journal  and  a  magazine,"  The  Quarterly  strives  to  give   balanced  coverage,  context,  and  various  viewpoints  about  the  role  of  the  nonprofit  sector.

5.  The  NonProfit  Times   www.thenonprofittimes.com/

6.  Contributions  Magazine:  The  How-To  Source  for  Nonprofit  Professionals   http://www.contributionsmagazine.com/

This  magazine  publishes  every  two  months  and  is  a  good  source  of  practical  tips  and  advice   on  a  broad  array  of  fundraising  topics.

The  magazine's  website  has  a  "How-‐to"  library  that  is  accessible  to  non-‐subscribers.  These   are  articles  that  have  previously  appeared  in  the  magazine.  Very  useful  resource.

7.  Grassroots  Fundraising  Journal   http://www.grassrootsfundraising.org

This  bi-‐monthly  journal/magazine  has  been  around  since  the  1980s  and  provides  practical   tips  on  fundraising  at  the  grassroots  level.  Happily  serves  the  smaller  organization  with  a   strong  bent  to  social  justice  issues
