INTRODUCTION TO THE SALES DIRECT LINK MODULE

The Sales Direct Link module provides t he Next Generat ion sof t w are® user w it h a method of allow ing your sales f orce and int ernal personnel t o access your Next Generat ion sof t w are® system via an Internet connect ion. Wit h t his module, you can set up your sales organizat ion and give t hem t he capabilit y t o inquire on t he stat us of orders, check product availabilit y, view cust omer account inf ormat ion, sales hist ory, enter and update orders or quot es.

All w eb pages are dynamically built and displayed by means of t he lat est brow ser t echnology using eit her Microsof t Explorer® or Firef ox®.

SECURITY FOR B2B AND DIRECT SALES LINK MODULES

First t here must be internet access w it hin your building via rout er. Your router must be on t he same LAN as your Unix RS/6000 comput er. The LAN IP address of the router w ill be t he gatew ay f rom your RS/6000. Your Stat ic Public IP address w ill be on t he WAN side of the rout er. Your Rout er w ill have t o be conf igured w ith NAT (Net w ork Address Translat ion) w here you w ill be def ining port s like 80, 23, 21 et c. These port s must be NAT' ed f rom the Public IP t o t he IP address of t he RS/6000.

SSL and SSH w ill be conf igured on t he RS/6000. SSL (Secured Socket Layer) is a prot ocol t hat t ransmits your communicat ions over the int ernet in an encrypt ed form. SSL ensures that t he inf ormat ion is sent , unchanged, only to the server you int ended to send it t o. Munics recommends Verisign™ as t he originator f or the SSL certif icat e. SSH (Secured Socket Shell) is a prot ocol that allow s you t o encrypt all dat a t raveling f rom your comput er t o t he server or ot her comput ers using dif f erent t ypes of encrypt ion algorithms. It is similar t o t elnet but t he t raf f ic it passes over t he net w ork is encrypt ed. Of course this means t hat SSH has to be running on the RS/6000 Server as w ell as t he client s connect ing t o it . This prot ocol is mainly used f or rlogin, telnet and f tp.

You w ill be using t he IBM HTTPServer w hich runs apache. The Net w ork connect ion to the internet should be provided by a t rusted ISP (Internet Service Provider). The Web Servers that are accessible f rom t he Internet should be prot ect ed against unlimit ed access. This is usually done by protect ing t he connect ion bet w een the ISP and t he Web Server w it h a f irew all or a screening router. A screening rout er is basically a rout er t hat has some screening rules def ined for t he purpose of prot ect ing the systems t hat are behind it. For example, denying all t raf f ic that originat es f rom t he side t hat is not t rust ed and t ries to make connect ion t o unspecif ied ports on t he secure side.

The securit y w ould be handled w it hin your f irew all/screening rout er/Window s Server et c. Once you get t hrough t he securit y you now have access to the RS/6000 w it h a login and passw ord. The login and passw ord t he RS/6000 is asking f or gives you access t o t he UNIX box/Next Generat ion

Sof t w are/Dat abase. The ot her part s of t he securit y w ould be handled by your ow n Net w ork Administ rator/ISP/Web Company w hich w ould be grant ing access to your Netw ork.

Int ernet – Your ISP – Your Web Company – Your Rout er – Your Firew all/screening router – Your Window s/Novell Server – Now t he RS/6000.

As you can see, bef ore any login/passw ord prompt or any request hit s t he RS/6000, it must f irst get t hrough all of t he other securit y check point s. By t his w e mean t hat anyone can access your w ebsite w w w .samson.com, but 1st t hey must get t hrough your f irew all/screening rout er and Window s Server.

At t his point they can then access t he MUNICS syst em using t he B2B or WSP (cust omer & salesrep w eb applicat ions) providing t hey have a valid ID and PASSWORD w hich you cont rol. In t he B2B and Sales Direct Link Module, t his assignment is cont rolled by t he syst ems administ rat or and not by t he end user, like in some B2C syst ems.

(5)

Release NGS-6.30 WSDL - 5 You, t he Next Generat ion administ rator, also cont rol t he programs t hat display on t he navigat ion bar menu. In the B2B and Sales Direct Link Module you decide w hat programs each person that logs int o t he syst em w ill be allow ed to use. For example, if you set up t w o logins f or the company-- loginone and logint w o--you may w ant loginone only t o have access t o t he Order Stat us View and Account Overview View and not have access t o t he Order Ent ry Capabilities. On t he ot her hand, you may w ish to have logint w o only access the Order Ent ry Capabilit ies and not see any Account Overview inf ormat ion. You decide w ho get s access t o w hat programs. Also, keep in mind t hat t he only program that act ually w rit es t o t he disk is the Order Ent ry Program.

When you allow an end user to ent er orders, you have another level of securit y on a cust omer by cust omer basis:

1) Allow only quotes t o be ent ered, or

2) Allow orders t o be ent ered and automat ically placed on hold, or

3) Allow orders t o be ent ered and automat ically passed t hrough t o your normal mode of generat ing picking t ickets.

The customers using your B2B applicat ion can and probably should be your " pref erred" cust omers.

They can view t heir order st atus, credit info, t racking #' s (f or t heir ow n account only) w hich is a huge benef it f or them. They cannot updat e an exist ing order.

Nobody can get access direct ly to the MUNICS system unless they have an IP address that your rout er allow s. E.g. w e at MUNICS can get into your system via t he int ernet because w e have an IP address t hat your rout er recognizes as MUNICS. Nobody can duplicate that address because you must physically be in our system f irst and of course w e have all these levels of f irew all, int ernet, rout er, applicat ion access ment ioned above.

Also, last but not least , you have t he added security w it hin our applicat ion t hat def ines your users and w hat programs they have access to (SSM), as w ell as t he funct ions allow ed w it hin the program. A person must have a valid user id and passw ord and then have securit y t o t he program t hey w ant t o use.

IBM HTTP/APACHE WEBSERVER

The f irst step is t o have t he IBM HTTP/APACHE WEBSERVER product loaded onto your Host computer. This product creates t he " ht t p server environment " or " w eb environment " (i.e. your internal w eb server) on your in-house comput er system. All int ernal IP addressing w it h your net w ork w ill be " linked" up w it h t his product thus creating an Intranet. Once t his has been accomplished, the ext ernal IP addressing (t he WAN side) w ill be mapped and t ranslat ed w ith t he int ernal IP addressing to create t o link f rom your host syst em t o t he Int ernet . You should have an exist ing sit e t o link up t o. Obt ain a domain name, if you have not already done so, w ith an Int ernet service provider (ISP). Once you have est ablished a domain name you need t o create a static w eb page. This w ill become your " home page" .

The next step in set t ing up t he IBM HTTP/APACHE WEBSERVER product is t o creat e UNIX directories to store w eb f iles t hat are needed f or displaying informat ion t hrough t he brow sers. The directories may vary but w ill st art w it h " /usr/HTTPServer/htdocs/(customer)" . Addit ional direct ories w ill be set up under t he /(cust omer). Cust omer is your customer name e.g.

" /usr/HTTPServer/ht docs/munics" .

SETTING UP THE SYSTEM

When set t ing up eit her t he B2B system or Sales Direct Link system on a client ' s machine, make sure t he f ollow ing has been completed:

• From the latest development area (Munics f50) copy everything from the follow ing libraries:

(6)

/usr10/mis407/WEBLOAD - t his contains scripts to set up t he required tables

/usr/HTTPServer/4ge - t his library contains all of t he " Web" programs f or Sales Direct Link or B2B, depending on w hich one you' re set t ing up.

/usr/HTTPServer/cgi-bin - t his library contains script s to execut e t he " Web" programs

• For WSP setup, WSPM (Sales Direct Link Maintenance) in library usr10/mis407/mis_w sp/progs must be loaded and the pgc record added w it h a direct ory pat h of WSPPROGS. Forms must be sent f rom t he /usr10/mis407/mis_w sp/f rms library

• For B2B setup, B2BM (B2B Maintenance) in library /usr10/mis407/mis_b2b/progs must be loaded and t he pgc record added w it h a directory pat h of B2BPROGS. Forms must be sent f rom t he /usr10/mis407/mis_w sp/f rms library

COMMUNICATIONS REQUIREMENTS

Communicat ions requirements need t o be review ed w it h t he cust omer. A Stat ic DSL line is one of t he choices. A " st at ic" line is required because a permanent IP address get s assigned w hereas w ith a " dynamic" DSL line, t he IP address changes constant ly. A stat ic T1 line can also be used, but unless a cust omer already has one, t he T1 lines are expensive.

Once the " Web" environment has been creat ed and t he set up completed, you can begin t o use or cosmet ically tailor w eb pages f or your specif ic company.

CREATING START UP PAGES

It all start s w ith sett ing up a link t o your system host ing t he Next Generat ion Sof t w are®(i.e. your internal w eb server). The link may be est ablished by coding a hyperlink f rom one of your exist ing int ernet w ebsit e' s pages (perhaps your home page), t o t he IP address of t he syst em host ing t he Next Generat ion Sof t w are®(i.e. your internal w eb server). Or simply by placing a " short -cut" t o the IP address of t he system host ing t he Next Generat ion Sof t w are®, on t he pc that w ill be using t he applicat ions.

Release NGS-6.30 WSDL - 15 USING CSS STYLE SHEETS

The Next Generat ion Web programs allow you t o ut ilize pow erf ul CSS st yle sheets. A CSS (Cascading St yle Sheet ) st yle is a group of format t ing at t ribut es that cont rol t he appearance of a range of t ext in a single document or can be used to cont rol many documents at once. It essent ially allow s you t o cont rol the w ay your pages w ill look to your users. You can create CSS st yles to cont rol the f ont , font size, alignment, background color, hover color, and most t radit ional t ext f ormat t ing at t ribut es to ensure a more consistent t reat ment of your page appearance w ith dif f erent brow sers. Most brow sers (version 4.0 and above) now support CSS st yles. Earlier brow sers w ill ignore t hem.

Your syst em came pre-loaded w ith a def ault CSS style named, " mis_st d.css" locat ed in t he " /css"

directory. The full directory pat h w ould be /usr/HTTPServer/htdocs/company/css, w here /company w ould be w hat w as init ially set up on your system during installat ion. This standard css cont rols all w eb programs f or all the various w eb modules, you purchased f rom Munics Inf ormat ion Systems. If you choose t o, you may change t his f ile t o match any color or f ont scheme you desire. This w ill give your pages the same look as other w eb pages you may have already developed. You can even create individual CSS st yles for each program of each applicat ion you purchased. For example, if you purchased the Part ner Relat ionship Manager program, you could creat e a document under the above direct ory w ith the name " mis_st d_w ebprm.css" . If you purchased t he b2b module and w ant t he order program t o be dif f erent , t he name under the above directory w ould be

" mis_st d_w ebshop.css" and so on.

The Web programs search t he direct ory in the f ollow ing manner:

As soon as a " call" is made f or a program, say " prm" , the program w ill search direct ory /usr/HTTPServer/ht docs/company/css/mis_std_prm.css if it can' t f ind t hat f ile it w ill look for /usr/HTTPServer/ht docs/company/css/mis_std.css if it can' t f ind t hat f ile, it w ill t hen display w hat is " hard coded" in the program it self .

NOTE: CSS st yles do not cont rol the navigat ion menu bar w hich is a f rame t hat displays on t he left hand side of each page in t he w eb applicat ion you purchased. The menu bar is cont rolled by program " WSPM" for t he Part ner Relat ionship Product and t he Salesman direct link or by " B2BM"

f or t he Business t o Business product . See document at ion sect ion f or t hose programs.
