Click here to learn more about Pearson - Powerschool.
SNAP Health Center + PowerSchool = A Powerful Partnership
PSNI and Pearson Education, Inc. have partnered to bring school districts the preferred solution for school nurse software. Because Pearson recognizes the complexities of the school health clinic, the sensitivity of medical data, and the need for software that is designed specifically for school nurses by school nurses, they have selected PSNI to be an Independent Software Vendor (ISV). This relationship will provide PowerSchool districts the best alternative for the school health clinic, and will enhance technical support and student data interface solutions.
PowerSchool is the fastest-growing, most widely used web-based student information system (SIS), supporting more than 8.5 million students in 50 states and over 50 countries. A large portion of our customers use
PowerSchool in conjunction with SNAP Health Center. It only makes sense that two leading software vendors foster a relationship where the customer reaps the benefits.

The Immunization Corner
All SNAP state immunization setups have been posted and/or updated for the 2011-2012 school year.
Are you up-to-date in SNAP? To find out, click Library
/ Immunizations / Import Setup. Choose your state and
preferred setup if there are multiple options. If you are up-to-date, you will receive a confirmation message.
NOTE: Updating your program to version 4.3.0 does NOT update your immunizations requirements. One person in a networked district, e.g. nurse leader, needs to import the immunization requirements.
When we post or update state immunization setups, a notification is sent via email to anyone in the state who has provided a valid email address. You can sign up to receive immunization emails at the Member's Area: select My Info / My Preferences / Check the box: Send Immunization Email.

How do I correct a visit error once the visit is permanently locked?
The Visit Log and Med Log become permanently "locked" each day at
midnight. Once locked, all information contained in visits or med
administrations cannot be deleted or edited. This locking mechanism
ensures all documentation is secure and no changes can be made. If
you forget to include important information in a visit or med admin that
is more than a day old, it is possible to append a note. To do so, open
the visit log of the day the original log was created. Open the visit log
you wish to append by double clicking on it. Click on the Memo Pad
icon at the bottom of the screen. For security purposes, when you
append an old visit or med admin, SNAP Health Center automatically
stamps the note "Appended" with the current date and user name.
Verifying and/or activating recent purchases
If you recently purchased a SNAP Health Center School, User, IHP
License, or State Report Generator you can confirm that your order has
been processed at the Member's Area/My Info. You can also activate a

Mosby Drug Database
Did you know that you have access to a comprehensive database that
supplies you with up-to-date, objective, and reliable drug information?
The Mosby Drug Database is linked within SNAP Med orders,
providing you with instant access to thousands of U.S. approved
pharmaceuticals indexed by generic name, trade name, international
brand name, and drug class.
The Mosby Drug Database is not updated during SNAP upgrades.
Periodically, you need to update/import the Mosby Drug Database.
This may be done directly from within SNAP. Please be patient during
the import as the Mosby database contains a large amount of data.
1. On the main menu bar, select Library/Drug Names/Import
Setup/PSNI Website
2. Depending on the speed of your computer, the
import may take up to 10 minutes
3. When the import is complete, a message
appears stating the import was successful
4. Click [OK] - Mosby Drug Database is now
available to use
5. On the main menu bar, select Library/View Edit

6. Click [Alphabetize Library], click [Yes], click [Done], click [Yes] to
close window
Using the Mosby Drug Database
The Mosby Drug Database can be accessed either when transcribing
a new med order or when administering a medication. Simply click on
the [Drug Info] button in either screen, and your computer automatically
launches your web browser to display the drug information. Only the
drug information for the current drug will display. If the drug selected is
not found in the Mosby database, the button will not be available.
Refer to the Medication Log chapter of your SNAP Health Center
User Guide for more information.

Report Generator
SNAP’s Report Generator is one of the most valuable tools available
to nurses, but many times it is the least used tool. The Report
Generator can be accessed from the main menu bar in SNAP. You can
select from two report styles, Presentation or Tabular. It may not be
readily apparent, but this tool is capable of generating over 200
reports. These reports can be statistical or student specific, and you
can report on almost anything you have entered into SNAP for as long
as you have had the program.
The Report Generator is a perfect way to analyze your environment
and needs. For example, you can determine if you need additional
help by reporting the average number of visits during the winter months
as opposed to spring and fall. Or find out how many students received
a bandage or a PRN med to determine the quantity of your next supply
order. These reports can be used to support your needs when asking
for supply, additional office help, or to simply demonstrate the workload
taken on by the school nurse office.
There are several resources available to assist you in learning this
powerful tool. First and foremost, don’t be afraid to open this program
and test it out. After you have selected the reporting items, you can
check the Preview box before you click search, then you will simply
click close, and the report will not be saved or printed. You will be
amazed by the amount of information that can be retrieved.
Customizing your libraries and pull down menus allows you to report
on almost anything you want.
Resources for the Report Generator
1. At the Member’s Area there are 10 downloadable How Tos
2. Review chapter 15 in your hard copy User Guide. Access the
User Guide electronically: Start/All Programs/SNAP/Health
Center Manual.
3. Refer to chapter 14 from the Main Menu bar in SNAP: Help/Help
4. Web Training: SNAP Reports and Group Processing. Click here
